Hot tub/jacuzzi was out of service during our stay and the beach was closed due to "bacteria" in the Chesapeake Bay ( E. Coli and other coliforms ). Indoor pool was evacuated due to lightening in one cloudbank at sea (no thunder, just lightening in a cloud bank, no rain). Bright red stains on the carpet in front of the bathroom. I immediately went to the front desk as soon as I entered the room, the first day, and saw the stains....I didn't want to pay for staining the carpet when the stains were already there. Pets not allowed. Save some $$$$, don't get the buffet breakfast (not a continental breakfast) at the hotel's restaurant (The Tradewinds). Maybe the a la carte selections would have been tastier. The pool there used to be a heated pool, it is no longer a heated pool (I guess because it's summer). Bayview room does not overlook the bay, you need a Bayfront room for that.

Hot tub and pool were outstanding. Carpet is old and shabby, bedroom should have newer beds. Great location, fantastic pool and hot tub, fantastic restaurant. Would stay again.

The hotel seems to show it's age. The room that I got was old and quite frankly very worn. Carpeting was wrinkled, and repeating myself just old and worn. Not a place that I would want to stay again. I would rather have stayed at a hotel similar to a Red Roof Inn. The standards seem to be a lot higher in the quality of the rooms.

People at the front desk were very friendly! Calling the front desk for towels or the sort received a pleasant response, and we received them within an hour. The pool was very nice and never crowded. The private beach area was excellent, with chairs and umbrellas to rent, and the option of playing volleyball. The hotel restaurant was very classy with excellent food. We loved the room with the seperate living and sleeping areas, and the private balcony. My only complaint was a burnt out light bulb that, after asking the front desk twice, still didn't get replaced. That wasn't enough to put a damper on our fun. Overall, we loved it! We will be staying there again!

We enjoy staying here, away from the more crowded oceanfront hotels, which are only 10 minutes away. Hotel is all suite, with free underground parking, and an excellent restaurant. Very good value for the money.

Lots of space in the room. The resort was wonderful. The room had plenty of space and we loved having a microwave/fridge in the room. There was plenty of parking on site. The resort was clean and staff was friendly.

All was well until we entered the room. Although a true suite, you enter directly into the bedroom. As such, ALL noise in the hall is way too close to your sleeping area. The walls and door do NOT provide any significant sound proofing. So, if you do stay here, and you desire sleep, you be best advised to wear significant ear plugs.

I stayed in Bayfront suite. The location of the room was excellent. We had panoramic view of beach from the 8th floor. One could enjoy sunrise. Balcony was O.K. The bayfront building has 2 elevators. One of them was not working. Waiting for an elevator on the 8th floor was not a joke. Even when the elevator came to 1st floor, it was full with people from basement/parking lot. I would have walked if I stayed lower than 5th floor. The suite was quite large with a large refriegerator and microwave. The indoor pool was not heated much. I was not able to take a toddler to the pool due to the temperature. It was good that I asked how much I was being charged when I checked out,; Trade Winds (the restaurant at the hotel) charged us even though we did not dine there. This was not documented on the express check out paper that I got early in the morning, but added afterward. It took about 5-10 minutes to resolve this matter. I would consider staying again only if both elevators work and I get the same quality room. By the way, the parking lots are small; rather narrow for a minivan.

I was so very please with my stay at The Virginia Beach Resort Hotel and Conference Center. The staff proved helpful and curteous before we even arrived. We got in very late and lost our way and they gave precise directions and was quick with getting us checked-in. It was hard to believe that the staff, at that time morning, were still so pleasant and couteous. The room was exceptional. It was very peaceful and didn't hear any noise outside in the hallway. I must say we all had a restful sleep when we were sleeping. I also enjoyed the amenities located there including the the private beach. Everything was maintained quite nicely and enhanced the already high regard I carried for the establishment. I must also mention that the courtesy shuttle to the oceanfront was dynamic. I would recommend this resort to anyone who enjoys good clean fun and efficent, couteous staff. I am actually planning my next trip soon and will be staying again. I was so very pleased....all around.

Spacious rooms, well kept, except bathtub. Tub drained extremely slowly, water pressure painfully high.

The good: Private beach was very clean with plenty of room to "set up camp" and relax or swim. There was walk-up beverage and food service from the beach which was very convenient. The restaurant offered adequate fare with very good service. Nicely situated private balconies. Roomy living area with fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The bad: The pool and spa area was unattended and over-run with unruly kids making it impossible to enjoy these features. The bedroom is situated at the front of the suite and loud teenagers ran the halls until 3 or 4 am. All elevators doubles as service elevators and were very slow. We would probably stay here again...but not on a holiday weekend...and only on a lower floor

The lay-out of the room was the best thing about this stay: the smaller area with the beds is separate from the sitting area and there is a t.v. in both areas -- would work well for a family. On the downside of this hotel: the beds are not comfortable at all; the carpet seemed dirty (although the room itself was clean); and the furnishings a bit shabby. In addition the hotel charged 9.95 per day for internet access. In the room, you have to use a cable, wireless is only offered in the hotel lobby. Room service was extremely overpriced and they do not offer a free continental breakfast. If you add the extra fees for various things, you might be able to stay a nicer place and get a more comfortable bed. Would not stay here again.

Oceanfront location and pool; Balcony. Confusing floor layout. Lobby location was not convenient. We enjoyed our stay. Very family friendly. Beachfront location was a plus. The kids loved the indoor/outdoor pool.

The staff is world class, my baby boy got sick and I had to take him to the hospital, staff looked up the nearest children's hospital and gave me detailed directions in less than a minute. Everything turned out fine with son and staff gave me peace of mind with professional response. Location is great if you want to get away from the party crowd and have a nice time with the family. The whirlpool water is ranscid and stinks, but overall everything else is acceptable or above average. Nice big rooms.

This is a great place for the family. All rooms are suites with a view and can sleep 6. The only down side was the bedroom part was near the hallway which can be noisy. There is free activities for the kids 3 times a day. The pool is indoor and outdoor and very nice. The beach is private and on the bay which was warm and relaxing. We are going back next year.

It was dirty and rundown. It was totally unacceptable. It was dirty, smelled bad, the door to the balcony was painfully, obviously broken and was missing the whole lock section of the knob and the air conditioner hardly worked. It just was not a pleasant stay by any stretch of the words.

This is a great family hotel, especially for families with little children. The hotel is located on the bay and not the ocean front, so the surf is calm, which is greaat for the little ones. Also not near as crowded. The distance from the hotel to the beach is a short distance, which is great for the little ones who tend to get tired after along day at the beach and don't want to walk a long distance to get back to the room.

They're going to tear this hotel down at the end of the year. Overall it was not a good experience.

The size of the suite and the pool. Nice accommodations, very friendly and pleasant staff. Too far from beach.

Positive things: My kids LOVED it and they crowned me as "The Best Daddy EVER". All they wanted to do all day was to go down to the pool, then to the beach and back up to the pool again. The hotel was nice and had a good layout, three sides of the hotel have views of the bay because the balconies are offset and stick out past the hotel structure. The hotel is in a good location, there is a full grocery store across the street. The sun sets were beautiful and we often saw dolphins swimming out playing past the sand bar. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds and linens were soft and comfortable, the fold out bed was ok but it was , The kitchenette area was nice, the micro wave was very powerful but you need to rotate your food yourself or one side will be frozen and the burnt. There were plenty of towels down at the indoor/outdoor pool and the deepest part was 4? feet. The staff cleaned the beach every morning of any seaweed or other junk. There is a set of elevators on each side of the hotel, so waiting for one didn't take long. Negative things: The carpet in our room needed a good shampoo. During our stay, there was a fire alarm that went off, the staff was slow in reacting and responding to our questions. But they did clear out the hotel and check each room before giving the all clear to return. I would have felt better if the staff had more of a reflex reaction to the situation then to wait for a phone call to receive their orders.
