Villa Zuccari - a large villa surrounded by the countryside and vineyards of Montefalco - has been the Zuccari family residence since the end of the 16th century. The current owner - Paolo Zuccari - has transformed this impressive building into a Relais de Charme - with a 40, 000sqm park and a large swimming pool surrounded by a large magnolia tree - tall palms - enormous pines and a border of box-wood hedges. Your first glimpse of the interior of the hotel is the reception - a large and airy room enhanced by a hand-worked and painted 19th-century terracotta tile ceiling which was brought to light during the long and painstaking restoration. The main hall leads past this reception area to two cozy vaulted living rooms and the main dining room with its own original terracotta tiled ceiling and sun-coloured walls. The Winter Garden bar has a beautiful mural painted on the walls, and its light and airy atmosphere make it an excellent location to enjoy the hotel's bountiful breakfast - the hotel's owner prepares at times homemade pastries. The splendid restaurant is in the room where once the grapes were collected and processed - and here you can enjoy simple - traditional cooking with homemade pasta and splendid legume and grain soups accompanied by the magnificent Montefalco Rosso or Sagrantino DOCG wines.
