This hotel is ok for a very short stay but everything (bedroom, bathroom, lift, breakfast area, reception) is very cramped, even by the standards of Parisian hotels. The hotel would be a pleasanter place to stay if the management gave a little more attention to making sure that everything worked (e.g. no plug in hand basin, one bedside light not working). They should also invest in a better coffee machine for the breakfast room -- cheap coffee in a French hotel is a false economy.

The staff were first class and very very helpful. As in many Paris hotels the room was small but it had everything we needed and was kept very clean. We would definitely return to this hotel for another stay.

Although the property was said to have historical significance, it was in much need of some tender loving care and refurbishment. Good location and easy to access.

Avoid room 1. It is right next to the breakfast area and you won't sleep after 7am. Overall a cheapish hotel with leaky bathtubs. Convenient but not more.

This hotel was okay, well positioned near the metro. The only complaint was that we did not receive our wake-up call the day we were leaving, and they tried to charge us for a breakfast we never had. The rooms were clean, but of course small. We also didn't realize we were in the porno district, I would stay somewhere else next time.

Rooms in Paris are small and this one was but we expected that. The air conditioning worked well and it was needed for our stay. We asked for a quiet room and recieved it. Breakfast was OK but is over priced, but this is Paris. We were unclear if breakfast was included in the price of the room, but it was not. Good location for sightseeing.

First stay in VVG - rooms small, but expect this in Paris. Staff very friendly. The hotel is on a small side street which locals don't seem to know about. Get off at Pigalle metro and walk down hill - 5 min walk.

We had a superior room but it is not possible to consider such a little room as a superior (however we also saw a standard room an it was even shorter!). We stayed 4 days and for 2 days nobody cleaned the soap in the bathtub. The hotel is in a very good position and near the metro.

Le petit déjeuner est servi par des femmes de ménage, en blouse et ...en savates. Lamentable.

My mother and I were on a 4 day city break, we had been to Paris previously and purposely chose this location, it is literally 5 mins walk from the Moulin Rouge and the nearest metro is Blanche there are lots of nice little restaurants locally particularly chartieres which is near to the the St George Metro, Monmartre and shopping areas are very close. We were not disappointed at all with the Villa Van Gogh despite some of the reviews the rooms were small (this is the normal in Paris)our room was perfectly big enough and most importantly CLEAN maid service every day. The staff were freindly and even printed some route maps for us. We would recommend the breakfast which had plenty of choice, although skip the room service very expensive and not great quality. We were in a front facing room and with the windows open on a saturday night you could hear people enjoying themselves - that is what you would expect, beds were very comfy and clean (they looked new to us). Overall we would definately stay here again we had NO PROBLEMS AT ALL and we are quite fussy. We had no problems and didnt even see any ladies of the night, meet any rude people or have anything to moan about. We would both recommend this accommodation for sightseeing couples, city breaks, students, mums and daughters etc. GIVE IT A CHANCE - WE DID AND IT PAID OFF we had a fab time - Thanks Venere x

Could be great to have a coffee machine in the room. CD reader included in the TV is much appreciated.
