The Principe Leopoldo Restaurant

To complete the offer of Villa Principe Leopoldo, that has been part of the Relais & Chateaux chain for several years now, we should not forgo mentioning its astounding cuisine that thanks to the great expertise of Chef Dario Ranza has received numerous awards. The restaurant is renowned for its quality and elegance and has received excellent mentions in several international guides like Les Grandes Tables, Gault Millau and Veronelli. Three quiet dining areas, well-distanced tables, marble and flower upholstery, Louis XVI chairs, linen tablecloths and an impeccable service are the ingredients for dining in style. When the weather is pleasant, guests can enjoy the Gazebo on the large terrace in front of a breathtaking view. Chef Ranza’s cuisine joins together the French experience with the genuine Italian tradition. The dishes are at once tasty but delicate; the menu is contrived according to the season, featuring both meat and fish, flavours from the vegetable garden and aromatic herbs. Do not miss the delicious deserts. Gabriele Speziale, 2° maître and sommelier, is of assistance in the selection of the best combinations, opening any bottle, even the best, for a glass of wine. The Limonaia, a terraced winter garden, full of flowers and with a view on the lake and the swimming pool is the ideal place to have breakfast in good weather.

Chef Ranza loves choosing his ingredients fresh from the market. His cuisine is a harmonious blend of classical light Mediterranean recipes and ones belonging to the Lombard tradition. Presentation is also very refined and contemporary. Recipes continue to evolve but risotto is always a great favourite. Although prepared in a myriad number of different ways and with various taste combinations, Chef Ranza always prefers using grand reserve carnaroli rice. His other specialties are represented by his Irish tender loin and grilled fruit deserts. The menu changes every six months and there is always the proposal of the day. The business lunch menu includes an entrée, a first course and a choice among three different second courses, and desert. The Principe Menu consists in five courses. The Surprise Menu consists in eight courses.
The ambience features warm, soft lighting and upholstery, comfortable chairs, well spaced out tables, beautiful tablecloths, classic silverware and several fine, crystal glasses of different shapes and sizes. The wine menu is almost monumental, offering a selection among the best wines. The customer is also enticed by a champagne menu. Service is extremely professional and directed by two expert maître sommeliers: Claudio Recchia and Gabriele Speziale. The Principe Leopolodo Restaurant is always open.
