We had a wonderful stay at Villa Oriana. We arrived during "siesta" time and could not find a taxi so a very kind policeman, Salvatore, took up to the B&B. We were greeted by Maria who made us a coffee and invited us into her kitchen to watch her aunties make strufoli (a typical Italian New Year's treat). She gave us maps and a magazine about things going on in Sorrento. We loved the orchard surrounding. The breakfasts were wonderful (fresh tomatoes, marmelades from the citrus on the property, fresh squeezed juice, and homemade cakes). It was a walk into Sorrento but we has wonderful weather and love to walk so it was not a problem. We were there for New Year's eve. Maria invited us and the other quests to the roof top to watch the fireworks. Amazing and beautiful. Solid fireworks from Naples to Sorrento. The view from the dining room is wonderful: the bay and Mt. Vesuvius.

Our host, Maria, was delightful!! The room was spotless, and the breakfast was superb!!! The views from the terrace breathtaking. Another bonus for our 9 year old daughter was that we were able to use the swimming pool at the hotel just down the road. A fabulous base from which to explore the whole area; from Vesuvius and Pompeii to Capri.

Our stay at Valla Oriana exceeded every expectation. It was the most welcoming, beautiful setting in our three week trip throughout Italy. The hospitality extended to our group was so warm and genuine. Signora Maria and Signore Giusseppe make every guest feel special and like a part of the family. And the sweet Ivana, who is spending her summer at Villa Oriana as concierge/hostess was charming and adorable. We wished she could come home with us! The setting is truly dreamlike-among the lemon and orange trees-overlooking the Bay of Naples and Mt Vesuvius. All this and The World Cup celebration in the village below! Everything I read about Villa Oriana was surpassed. Our room was pristine and elegant. The breakfast - delicious perfection and so personal. We felt trluy sad when it was time to leave and would return in a minute if it were possible. Susan Bartolini Baltimore, MD

We spent three nights at the Villa and had a wonderful stay with caring hosts, warm welcome and great breakfasts and room. We would highly recommend this place. It is a bit out of the centre of Sorrento but well worth the extra few kilometers. Good luck for continued success to Maria, Pepe and Pasquale!!

If you are lucky enough to be anywhere near Sorrento, stay in this charming property surrounded by lemon and orange groves. The warm hospitality of the family, is part of the experience you will never forget. The breakfast is beautifully set in a wonderful large room overlooking the sea and on a clear day you will have a view of Mt. Vesuvius. The homemade products which grace the table will have you yearning for Mandarin Marmalade for years to come! Hand-painted tiles in the luxurious bathrooms add to the high standards in decor.

You couldn't begin to ask for a better place to stay or any nicer people to stay with. Breakfast-Awesome. Hospitality-Awesome. View-more than Awesome. One rainy night when finishing dinner, the restaurant manager says, "The Oriana. I know it well." And he drove us back to the B&B. It really doesn't get any better than this place.

Wonderful welcome and hospitality superb throughout our 10 day stay. Breakfast delicious and view from balcony hard to beat. Maria really seems to enjoy making her guests feel at home. Only about 15 to 20 mins walk into Sorrento but road often quite 'busy'.

Very friendly and clean hotel with beatiful views and garden.Homemade cakes, freshly squeezed o.j. and garden grown tomatoes for breakfast. It was difficult to find, look for signs to hotel Christina. The villa is not walking distance from town and the parking is almost impossible in Sorrento. Next time I would've looked for something in town and on the sea.

What can one say but, Wow! The rooms are both clean and nicely furnished with antique furniture. The views of Naples Bay, extraordinary and the breakfest, included in the reasonable price for the quality is a tastefully laid out and delicious breakfest.

What an enchanting villa! We arrived at Villa Oriana exhausted after touring Italy for two weeks (running from one place to another) and this villa provided with a cozy respite from the vacation. There are not enough good things I can say about Villa Oriana to do it justice. First, it has a fabulous panoramic view of Sorrento and the ocean, which can be enjoyed from your room’s balcony. Second, if you are looking for a tranquil time, the lemon groves set the tone with its citrus smell. Just as fantastic is the homemade complimentary breakfast: chocalate cake (made without flour), natural lemonade (made from their own trees), delicious marmalade (again, made from their fruit trees), fresh (and I mean fresh) mozzarella cheese…and I better stop there because all this talk is making me crave the wonderful feast. Last but not least, is the extraordinary customer service provided by the owners of the villa. They truly go the extra mile to make you feel at home. Another important fact to know about Villa Oriana (and Sorrento for that matter) is that is an excellent hub to visit other places. You can stay here and take daily excursions to close by sights such as Pompeii, the Amalfi coast, Capri and so forth. Enjoy your stay…I know you will! Final notes: 1. Although we had to share bathrooms with other rooms, they were extremely clean. 2. Make sure you take a taxi to the villa, unless of course you want a good work out.

We arrived at the villa exhausted. Maria took us under her wing and settled us on the terrace with homemade cookies and lemonade. The greeting area, eating area and terrace are picturesque. We awaited Pasqualae's arrival because there was a problem with our request for a room that was accessible to my elderly mother who uses a walker to walk. Pasquale arrived and was quite open about the miscommunication. He said he simply did not see our request on his email. The room reserved for us was down a flight of stairs from the main building. He immediately arranged for us to stay, for the quoted price, at the Hotel Christina, not even a half a block away. This hotel was beautiful and on the same street overlooking the Bay of Naples. Pasqulae brought us and our luggage to the hotel and made all of the arrangements. This hotel was handicapped accessible. The staff was nowhere as charming as Maria and Pasquale. In the morning we returned to a fabulous breakfeast at Villa Oriana. Maria made Caprese cake and everything was beautiful and delicous. The whole family was so nice to my mother and we loved them. They arranged for a cab to take us to the ferry in Sorrento to Capri that day, they allowed us to leave our car and excess luggage at the villa while we stayed overnight at Capri. They were superb hosts and we didn't even stay in the building. I plan to return here, these people were among the nicest we met on our trip.

Maria was a wonderful host. We had a fabulous time at Villa Oriana. Breakfast was all homemade and the walk up the hill was eased by the beautiful views and orchard. The map on verene.com is completely wrong however. It is about a 10 minute walk to Sorrento but even closer to the Sant´Agnello train station and bus stops to get everywhere. Loved our stay!!

We had a great stay here. The hosts and staff were very friendly and welcoming, we immediatly felt at home. The views were wonderful and the roof-terrace was great for a spot of sun-bathing. The breakfast was wonderful, all very fresh and tasty, especially the home-made cakes! We had a car so getting up the steep road wasn't a problem but I wouldn't fancy doing it on foot! If I ever return to the area I will definatly stay here again.

This was our 5th trip to the Naples/Amalfi coast area and our first stay in Sorrento. We normally stay in Positano or Amalfi. I was not disappointed with this B&B or the area. The B&B is in a beautiful setting and would have been difficult to find if I had not read thru the reviews in which other patrons gave some more detailed directions/land markers. Breakfast and coffee was terrific and our room/bath was quite clean and spacious. The owners are extremely friendly and attentive to their guests needs. I would highly recommend Villa Oriana.

This place is wonderful, and Maria, her husband Pepe, and son Pasquale are excellent hosts. Yes, the Villa is up quite a steep hill running off the main road, and yes, there was some noise from crowing cockerels & barking dogs in the morning. But that's preferable to the permanent buzz of vespas & other traffic if you're staying in downtown Sorrento. We were made to feel very welcome from the start, and on several occasions after coming back from dinner in town, we were invited into the family's kitchen for a late-night drink with their friends. The rooms are clean, comfortable & spacious, and the breakfasts on the terrace with the view of the coastline are fantastic (and set you up for the day). On the morning we left (for Naples, to catch a pre-booked onward train to Florence), Maria drove us down to Sant'Agnello station (which is all part of the "standard" service). When we got there & discovered that there was a local train strike, Maria bundled us back into her car & sped down to Sorrento harbour in time for us to catch the only ferry for Naples which would enable us to catch our onward train. I'm sure that is also "standard" service at Villa Oriana, but it wouldn't be at many other places. The location is an ideal base for exploring the main attractions of Naples and the Amalfi coast. And the setting of the accommodation within lemon & olive groves is charming. Sant'Agnello train station & local buses are a 10min downhill walk, and we found that taxi drivers in downtown Sorrento DO know where the Villa is (about 16 Euro away). And if you are arriving at Naples airport, Villa Oriana can arrange for a private car to pick you up & take you straight there for about 80 Euro. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Maria & family - Jonathan & Emma thank you for a wonderful time!

Locating Villa Oriana for the first time is a challenge, particularly at night! On only one night did we encounter a local taxi driver who knew precisely where it was. An instruction such as "At Saint'Agnello follow signs to Hotel Christina and then go past that hotel a further 100 metres" would have helped... We visited in mid October 2004, which co-incided with decidely changeable weather, virtually every evening treating us to spectacular thunderstorms, lightning and torrential rain. This is pertinent for the clients at Villa Oriana as if, like us, you choose to do much of your travelling on foot (i.e. from or to the Saint'Agnello railway station), you need to be aware that in these conditions the road up to the hotel becomes like a river bed! The climb on foot up to the hotel is really quite steep, though not too long - but it would not suit elderly clients unused to such physical hiking. The hotel itself was exactly as described, dicreetly concealed in a lemon grove on the hill-side, the staff very welcoming and helpful, delicious breakfasts with stunning views across the Bay of Naples. We were allocated a room in the separate building below the main hotel, which necessitated a climb through the lemon grove and up steps to the breakfast room - OK provided it's not tipping with rain! As forewarned by previous clients in these reviews, we were certainly treated to the sound of competing cockerals crowing each morning, and the odd dog barking, but frankly we did not find this intrusive or a problem. The room and bathroom were very acceptable if basic, also with great views across the bay to Vesuvius. Bath towels are not luxurious and fluffy, but more like huge tea towels - i.e. basic but adequate! The one serious omission we felt was the lack of tea-making facilities. A simple electric jug or kettle, with cups, tea and coffee would be a comparatively minor additional investment by the management, and would have made all the difference for us. We would imagine
