Do not stay here! We had the 2 bedroom separate building and there was a horrible smell!! The girl at the desk came out and said that she couldn't smell anything. Then we noticed that there were many air fresheners to try to mask the odor - they must know about it! This affected our whole outlook on the city.

This hotel was a taste of old Itlay, cleverly maintaining the character of the old palazzo, while providing all necessary comforts. If arriving at the station take a taxi we walked but it was a long walk with cases as we didn't know the way, but it was worth the journey as it was quiet and calm while the city centre was frantic.

Dependence was horrible!! Smell of sewer or mold. When we told the staff member at the front, she said that she didn't smell anything - made us feel like idiots. It was so bad that I could barely take a breath. Then we saw many plug-in air fresheners, so they were obviously aware of the problem. This impacted out entire outlook on Florence, and we will not be back.

A fantastic place to stay, a short walk to the heart of Firenza and a building of such great beauty and character. The kids loved their beds being on a mezzanine level in our room and the breakfast was to die for. Family friendly? - absolutely! My 10 year old son blushed every morning as his cheeks were kissed by the breakfast lady!! We'll definitely be back.

we stayed in florence at villa liana for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. the hotel is about 10 minute walk from the tourist centre which meant a walk or bus ride each morn and eve. the hotel staff was extremely helpful and our room spacious, clean and attractive. breakfast was a generous selection and i would recommend this hotel

Villa Liana was the perfect place for us. I have never had such peaceful and pleasant stay for such reasonable price. The people from the hotel was welcoming, just the required. The place is beautiful and quiet. Breakfast is very well served. Nothing to complain...

For my family ;myself wife 12 year old twins, this hotel was excellent. The staff were helpfull and friendly. Breakfasts were very good offering all that we needed. The room was spacious our twins loved the "upstairs bit". We would recomend this hotel to any family without reservation.

We found the staff a little rude and unhelpful, it was also a little noisy, but that's Italian drivers for you and their love affair with the horn! We weren't there to be best friends with the staff but they could work on their customer skills a little.

We stayed at the Hotel Villa Liana at the end of September 2007. We wanted a hotel that was within walking distance of the centre of Florence and this hotel is approx 15 mins walking distance from the Duomo so it was ideal. The surrounding area is very quiet and very much a residential area so it is easy to get a good nights sleep. Our room was on the top floor and was very spacious. The beds were well sized and comfortable and we particularly liked the frescos on the ceiling. This hotel does not have a lift and on our arrival the male receptionist brought our luggage to the room - no mean feat as it was 3 floors up. All of the staff, particularly the breakfast room staff, were courteous and pleasant. The breakfast was a banquet - we have never seen the like of it in a 3 star hotel in Continental Europe before. There aren't many local restaurants - two that we ate at and would recommend are: Rachel's Vegetarian Restaurant (turn left outside of the hotel and walk towards the Synagogue - it is next door and Acquacotta, via dei Pilastri 51r. We would definitely stay in this hotel if we were ever to return to Florence.

Plenty of space in the bedroom for the cot without having to squeeze. With children it would have been easier to have bath facilities as the shower recess was slippery for the toddler aged children (we were travelling with two under two). The location was perfect as were were out of the tourist area without having to walk too long to get to the main sights of Florence.

A beautiful place a bit off the beaten track (which we actually loved). Staff was friendly and welcoming. Room was beautiful with fresco on the ceiling. A little street noise in the front, but fine and quiet. Just be sure you can walk up a lot of stairs if you are on the top floor. Great meals just around the corner at Sapore, a fabulous non tourist fish restaurant. Pier Luigi on Piazza Rizzi was also great. a small park sits just a block from Liana and was a pleasant break from the hustle in the centro. The feeling was very neighborhood.

We stayed in a nice room in the back court, nice and calm. Charming surroundings. Small bathroom. Small tv in the room with only Italian channels! Nice breakfast with lots of food to choose between. We might come bach one day.

The location was great - close enough to walk to the sites, but far enough that you are out of the tourist nightmare. The breakfast was superb with many different choices. The room had a high ceiling and portable AC.

Compared with other properties we stayed at, Villa Lianna was a disappointment. The room was extremely small, and the bed was lumpy. The breakfast however, was very good. The location was not as convenient as I thought it would be and the neighborhood was a bit rough; which is not the fault of the hotel, but is something one might consider prior to booking.
