Description:
The Hotel Villa Lecchi is located at 22 km from Siena and the principal art and cultural centers of the Province and Chianti Classico region. Set amid 5 acres of private and secluded gardens, this is the result of a careful refurbishment of an eighteenth century villa, once home to the old Florentine Ginori family whose coat of arms still graces the front facade in stone. The Hotel has 20 double bedrooms in the main villa, among them 3 suites and 2 junior suites, and 7 in the annexe former farm house. The restaurant situated in the adjoining gardens is ideal for alfresco meals. The hotel is run directly for the Canocchi Family who owns the property and the mother cooks typical Tuscan cooking with the fresh raw products of her garden. There is a reserved parking area for guests.

Although a bit tricky to get to with some tight corners and narrow roads it was more than worth it. We had a wonderful 2 days in a lovely room, with small annexe with a sofa and a spiral staircase up to the tower room which had 3 aspect views across Tuscany. It was absolutely beautiful and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. We opted for the 20euro set menu both evenings to avoid driving anywhere at night and this was served out on the patio as we watched the sun setting. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Villa Lecchi is a truly beautiful villa, completely restaured, with a breath-taking view from its' terrace on the Chianti hills. That is, when the villa is open, which happens only in the good season. During winter, the villa is closed, and if you happen to book a room, you will get a "farm room", i.e. in the building next to the villa (thereby autoatically downgrading your stay to a 2-star, which you should be aware of). Commenting on this won't help whoever plans to stay in the real villa in Spring-Summer of course. But still: Laura is a very kind and helping host, and she will prepare breakfast for you at her own place (forget fruit, yoghurt and cereals, here we deal with hearthy home-made, fully saturated fat and sugar- containing pies etc). Price is reasonable. There is a budget ristorante-pizzeria in the vicinity well worth a visit.

I highly recommend this property. For a family of four (teenage son and daughter) our reservations required 2 rooms; both were spacious quiet and clean. A car is required to have access to Siena and the surrounding area, but there is ample space for parking on the property. The quality of this property made it worth the effort to travel the 30 minutes required to visit Siena. The staff was cogenial and the owner made us feel welcomed. The beauty of the property itself, however, will make your stay there memorable. The hilltop setting alone, with its panoramic views of the countryside, is worth the price of admission. The villa is spacious and fits the property well. Villa Lecchi is somewhat isolated, but that seemed to be one of the attractions for a number of other guests.

At first we were worried when the hotel was so far out of town, but once we arrived, the location turned out to be a bonus. The food served in the restaurant was excellent, the room spacious with restored frescos and antiques. We will return again.

We were expecting an old farmhouse, but were amazed and delighted to find a restored 18th century Villa on a hilltop overlooking the Tuscan sunsets. Gorgeous setting and grounds. Laura is a ball of fire and very helpful. Huge bathroom - many tour groups arriving daily; wedding receptions often held there.

The only thing positive about this place is the view and location. The "restaurant" had no choices, plain green salad was too salty to eat, bruschetta from previous night appeared at breakfast! The service is mean-spirited,almost inhumane. Our room reservation was changed to an inferior room for two nights and our luggage was dumped in the lobby and stayed there all day until our return at 11P.M.The desk clerk merely watched as we struggled to get them to the 3rd floor (no elevator). On our last night the people in charge flatly refused our request to borrow wine glasses or even sell us a bottle of water. We were told if we wanted anything, we had to eat in the restaurant. How this place earned three stars is beyond me!
