Great location. Just catch the Bart from the airport and its and easy walk to the hotel. Cable cars run right near the hotel. Staff were extremely helpful. Nice clean hotel and well worth the money. Nice looking restaurant in hotel but did not have time to try it. Will definetly be staying there on our next trip to San Francisco.

Location was great. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms clean. A very good experience overall.

It had very interesting décor. We had reserved a queen and only got a double. Room had no view and was very tiny. We've stayed at the Hotel Monaco and were a little disappointed about the quality of this hotel being that they are run by the same company. Small rooms and the one we had a view of nothing but the air exhaust system, but it was nicely located in the heart of downtown San Fran. The creaking wooden floor were quaint. Had to wait a VERY long time for valet parking.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Noise from the street was noticeable (nightime buskers, picketing construction workers with loud hailer!)but added to the vibrant atomosphere of this part of town.

We just stayed at this hotel and really enjoyed the whole experience for our 2 night stay. The location is terrific for people who want cable car access, shopping, theatre, or just hanging out for the nightlife too. The hotel shares some loby space with the Kuleto's resturant, so access is very easy for their wonderful meals. The hotel is older, but has been recently upgraded in every way. Our King size bed fit into a moderately sized room just fine. The inner facing room was quiet at all hours. Bath room was smaller sized, but all new and had high- end luxery features. I believe the hotel is 7 flors high, and some other rooms did face to the front street (Powell). The price is very reasonable, hope it stays that way. Will stay again.

Yuck, pretty much sums it up. Let me start out by saying it was under remodel. We were walked to our room (which was the size of a closet). It was off of the main hallway, creepy!!! The bathroom was clean, which was nice (It was the only reason we stayed). Lastly there was a hole in the wall. I stuffed it w/ kleenex. If you're looking for a pampered get away this is not the place. I would never recommend it to a friend.

This boutique hotel was clean, and appeared to be recently updated. The rooms were a good size for San Francisco, especially the bathroom. The attached restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced for the area. There is also a wine/cappuccino bar in the lobby that is a nice way to finish the day. There is a business center in the lobby that allows guests to use the computer and has printer access. The staff were very friendly and check-in and check-out was quick and efficient. The hotel is 2 blocks from the public transportation station and from the start of the cable car line. It is also 1 block from Union Square. The rooms that face the street can be a little noisy if you are a light sleeper, but being able to hear some of the street musicians was classic San Francisco.

Location is convenient. The hotel did not run hot water late night and early morning. It is also very noisy at night because of constructions on Powell Street. The hotel is too noisy at night because of construction on Powell street that I woke up several times at night. Also, there was no hot water available at night and early morning. So I was not able to take a shower for 2 days. For a business trip, it may be a decent hotel. Otherwise, I would not recommend and stay again.

Loved our stay here. Stayed in an inside room - it was the quietest hotel room I've ever stayed in. Rooms are well appointed and nicely updated. Very comfortable feather bed. Yes, the room was small, but that's to be expected in a boutique-style hotel, especially in San Francisco. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very good value for the money. I would definitely stay here again.

The location of this hotel is great if you want to be close to shopping, theatre, or public transportation. The BART ride to the airport is only a block and a half away. The Cable car line runs right in front of the hotel and can be pretty noisy. If you are a light sleeper ask for a room that is not facing Powell St. The staff was great, the room was small but clean. The hotel has a great Italian atmosphere. They even have a computer with internet access for guests in the lobby. The reason they don't get a five from me is I was only asked for my room ID when entering the hotel once out of the three evenings. I would have liked to have been asked each night. You will definitely run into homeless people in SF, but I felt safer here due to the late night shopping crowd. I have read reviews of homeless people congregating around the entrance to hotels, this was not the case here.

What a great surprise. I was expecting to be disappointed with a crummy place, but it was very nice. The bathroom was all new and modern. The carpet was a bit dated, but the place was very clean. The espresso shop in the lobby had good coffee, was handy and inexpensive . The attached cafe was fine...we ate breakfast there one morning. Hotel is on the cable car line and a block from Union square the MUNI and BART. Very handy. Very friendly staff.

Great location and wonderful restaurant. Noisy street because right downtown. We loved it. It had a wonderful European atmosphere. Good lobby opening out into wonderful restaurant. Wine tasting in the evening at bar area where you could also have dinner. Also small bar area by fireplace where you could also have dinner. A great experience except for traffic noise.

I booked my hotel on a budget and I came across Villa Florence and i thought why not....it's in the middle of union Square. It happened to be amazing. When you walk in, the first thing my boyfriend had said to me was "omg, how much did we pay for this....it looks SO expensive" The service was great too. The room was on the smaller side, but I didn't expect anything too big, it IS san francisco, everything's running on limited space. We requested to be by the window, and although it was noisy I personally loved it because it gave that whole city feel. But If your not into loud noise, request when you get there to get a room that is inside. I LOVED the hotel and will definetly be back the next time. For the price nothing beats this. PERFECT destination, and only two blocks away from bart.

I stay in SF often. All of the Union Square hotels leave something to be desired. So, I fully expected to be delighted with the talents of their webpage photographer and disappointed with the hotel. Not so. This place is my new favorite Union Square hotel. Lovely, spacious, clean, very friendly staff (at least in the evening). I would stay here again and will recommend it. I did not try the resturaunt, but it looked and smelled really good. The wine bar is so-so. The complimentary car service was never available in a reasonable amount of time. But with BART and the bus just steps away and cable cars right out the front door, I can't complain. As for parking, only the rich and the foolish bring a car into San Francisco, so expect to pay 40 (the going rate) for overnight parking. This is a three star that feels more like a four.

The Villa Florence is centrally located in Union Square near great shopping and restaurants. The staff was helpful, professional and polite. The room was clean and well appointed. After reading several reviews before we left for San Francisco, we were concerned about the room size. The room size was very adequate for two adults in a standard queen room. The only problem was the lack of a operational ice machine on each floor. We had to go from the 4th to the 2nd floor to get ice daily. The business center was convenient and accessible. I would recommend this hotel to anyone desiring to stay in downtown San Francisco.

Really liked the location and convenience. My visit was marred only by a group of other guests, nothing hotel could do. The hotel is right off of Union Square, very close to restaurants, public transportation, shopping, etc. Very nice, well-known restaurant on the premises. Room was decent size, staff was friendly.

The renovated Villa Florence more than lived up to my expectations. The room was comfortable but I can see how it would be a little tight for two. - especially the bathroom. The staff was extremely helpful and the restaurant as wonderful as I remembered it. I will definitely be back!

Given a downgraded room, likely because we had found such a great deal, but after viewing it, the concierge brought a room key for what was originally reserved. The Standard King was nice, but bed-centric, and nowhere for two to sit together but on the bed... a problem for those with back pain. The Deluxe King (executive) has a couch and coffee table, much more comfortable for romantic evenings after traversing the hills of San Francisco, and the extra table useful for work. The comfort and cleanliness was fantastic, there was more than ample closet space, and the bed comfort was superb. While we didn't dine at Kuletos restaurant, we used the cafe (croissants excellent!), choc. cake, cheesecake, salads all delicious. Commercial art galleries are just up the hill and to the left, and the Asian Art Museum at 200 Larking St. is world-class. Purchasing a 3-day pass to the trollies, street cars and buses was great, and some galleries give discounted admission if you show your passes. Just outside the hotel, catch the streetcars to romantic sites including The Palace of Fine Arts, or hiking up to Buena Vista Park. China Town offered some great views and food from the Trademark bldg., while lunching at the Cathay House. We had taken the Oakland Ferry to San Fran., and enjoyed the farmers' market and street musicians at the Ferry Bldg. on Saturday. No matter where we were, it seemed no trouble to get back "home" to drop off shopping and change, or refresh. Nights were so unexpectedly quiet... Sun. night I did hear faint drumming from street musicians, but no problem. There was no view from our room, but who cares! The hotel kindly kept our luggage before check-in, and after, as our flight was late in the evening.

the hotel was perfect if you wanted to stay away from the Pier locations. The trolley was just in front and close to the trolley turn around. Bart was very convenient from and to the airport. Stores, restaurant were just close by. Union Square a half block. Major dept stores, Macy' etc. within walking distance. Everything was very good. Only thing missing which is not important, was an ice bucket. :-)

Location. Very small room. Decent hotel overall, great location. Seemed more like a Euro hotel in size and amenities.
