Visitors to Rome travelling on a budget will appreciate the 2-star Vesta Residence Hotel, which is a family-run, quirky, pensione-style property. Offering a warm and relaxing atmosphere, the hotel's accommodation is pleasantly decorated in a modern and functional style, and all guestrooms are equipped with TV and bathroom with shower. Due to the nature of this hotel, breakfast is served in the room but friendly staff manage to make this a "home away from home" type of hotel. The Vesta Residence is located in the eastern part of Rome within walking distance of San Lorenzo Fuori Le Mura church, Villa Massimo and Villa Mirafiori. Moreover, the tube station Tiburtina (only 6 direct stops to the Colosseum) is a mere 2 minutes' walk away, ensuring guests are easily connected to all parts of the city. The reception is open from 08:00 to 23:00, therefore it is compulsory to advise the hotel in advance if guests plan to arrive before or after these times; on arrival at Tiburtina metro station, bear directly right along the pavement for apx 150 metres until reaching a large brown block. The hotel is located on the second floor, Scala (staircase) B.

Me and my husband stayed at this hostel from the 30 of April to the 3 of may 2008 and could not wait to leave. The staff were most unhelpful as they could not speak much English, the light was hanging off the ceiling in our room, also the plug behind the television was hanging off and the window did not open. Breakfast was almost non existent and the bathroom left a lot to be desired. This hostel is okay for 1 or 2 nights stay, but it is not ideal for a family. The only thing in its favor is that it is not too far away from the metro. Also if you stay here take some earplugs as the noise of the traffic will keep you awake all night.

There are a number of points which should be addressed by the hotel management: 1. Even the hotel is located within 2-3min walk from a train station it took from us ~40min to find the location of the hotel in dark after 7p.m. 2. The building in which the hotel located should have at least any information in front that the hotel is located inside of a secure building which is locked. 3. The room did not have a TV which is very unusual in our time in 21st century. 4. We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights and soup was not provided. It was actually provided on our request when we were checking out from the hotel. 5. We tried to make tea, but the kettle was leaking. 6. I have not received a [website] "Thank you" card when I checked into the hotel.
