Good location, only a short distance from the train station and near the quayside. Room decor was out dated, sheets had holes in and we felt it wasn't good value for the money at all- especially as it wasn't cheap. Overall, I expect more from 4 star accommodation.

Rooms dark and dismal. Staff helpful, but rooms we were shown require updating

A splendid building. Shame we were put in the smallest room with the worst view (everyone raves about the views - our was of a brick wall straight ahead, and a train track to the right). Room was tiny - we saw other rooms that were much larger. We paid £130 for 1 night's stay (a Saturday night), this did not even include breakfast, so poor valur for money. The positives were; friendly staff, free parking, good location, and on a Sunday you do not need to check out until 7pm which is an excellent feature (but sadly we were in a hurry so couldn't take advantage og this). I would recommend the Vermont in general, but not for a single Saturday evening stay, as too expensive, worst rooms, and no breakfast included.

Great location, right on Dean Street to access quayside. Didn't eat at hotel, no breakfast included in the cost which was a shame as the cost was higher than I wanted to pay. Staff were a great help, couldn't fault. Room a little crowded with furniture for my liking but was clean and comfy.

I choose the Vermont for its location, close to town and the quayside restuarants & bars. Unfortunately I was in a room on the 11th floor which was parallel with the signals for the intercity line. It was therefore very noisy all night. In addition the room was very hot so I needed to keep the window open.

The hotel was in an ideal location for us, ie, close to the train station, the shops and close to the arena which was the purpose of our visit to newcastle. We didn't eat at the hotel but when we were near the restaurant the food smelled wonderful!

Beware cathedral bells! The rooms on the front are single glazed and so you can heat the dear cathedral clock as it strikes every quarter hour throughout the night! However the night staff were very good and took me on a tour of vacant rooms to see which was quietest. Those elsewhere are very close to the railtracks however as there are not trains every 15 minutes and as these are secondary glazed I found this preferable. However this meant I was not be able to open window and there was no air conditioning. Otherwise no complaints.

Hotel slightly tricky to find but my partner telephoned the hotel whilst I was driving and he gave us clear directions and was waiting when we arrived, very friendly. Free secure parking was great. Room was ready when we arrived at 2pm, was adequate, clean and had comfortable bed, a quiet room. Excellent location for centre, and quayside and we would definitely stay here again. The late check out on the Sunday until 7pm was fantastic (for no extra charge). Didnt eat or drink there, so cannot comment.

I have to say the photos on the website for the Vermont are very misleading. We have not been to newcastle for a while but remembered it as being a reasonable up market place with a good bar and photos make it look almost boutiquesque. The problem was that thinking back this was about 10 years ago and it looks like the decor has not changed once in all that time. Now really quite grotty, in desperate need of revamp and not worth the money. Breakfast on room service also very poor for the hefty £14.50 -£16.50 price tag. I also asked if there was any chance of using internet to do an on line flight check in, to which I was directed to the train station - not exactly the height of customer service. all in all avoid if at all possible if you are looking for anything other than total bog standard.

Concierge was very friendly and professional. Reception seemed a little disinterested. Room was very tired - too much furniture and a horrible curtain in the shower - why do hotels in the 21st century insist on using unhygenic and impractical shoer curtains??

We arrived at 2pm on Friday afternoon and the room was not ready - had to go back again at 3pm requested room with a view of Bridges - got room close to railway line with no view. Breakfast too expensive at £16.50 each, used LLoyds bar nearby for breakfast, £2.49 each £1.09 for large coffee - cheaper for tea. Pot of tea for one in hotel £2.95. Thought rooms to be overpriced, customer service good but no one parked the car for us or came out to the car park to meet us as described on the hotel website

Great location above the keyside but far enough away that it wasn't noisey at all. They let dogs stay which is great as we had our little dog with us. We were looking for a big breakfast and the hotel only had a la carte cooked breakfast so we walked over to the Hilton.

Excellent location near the Tyne Bridge. Recommend requesting a Bridge View room. Poor choice of vegetarian options in the restaurant during time of stay. No air conditioning in the room. Excellent free parking facilities. Close to bars and restaurants. Friendly and welcoming staff. Not cheap, but offered good value.

This hotel can't compete for ambience with the Malmaison but is well-located and staff are helpful. There is a very loud church clock nearby which chimes every fifteen minutes throughout the night!
