This hotel claims to be a resort and spa. The entre hotel smells musty. AND the staff is aweful!! Not professional at all. The hallways are dark and dingy. The bed was aweful. I could feel a few springs. I was also told that the room had new pillowtop mattresses. I will never stay at this hotel ever. The price could be 30 a night and I would not stay again. I stayed at this hotel once before in 2004 and it was aweful then!! I thought they possibly remodeled!! Not remodeled at all. Same old musty musty hotel. With the unprofessional staff.

We read the bad reviews and thought we would give the Velda a chance, but They weren't lying. As soon as we walked into the lobby it looked fairly nice except something was wrong and they had caution tape everywhere. Then we had to go to the 3rd floor of the parking garage and the ramps were so steep we scrapped the bottom of our car ... Then we walked in the third floor access from the parking garage and the floor was extremely dirty. We took the elevator to the fourth floor it smelled like old, stale onion-rings. We walked in the room a very strange place. The room was about as big as a walk in closet but they were trying to fit two-full beds in it. The bathroom had a toilet paper holder on the back of the door and some little door that was open and you could see through into wall, which was full of dust. There was an iron burn on the floor and the sheets were old. The balcony had a little mildew. The only thing good about the room was the tv was pretty new, and the front desk staff was friendly. The pool area was also under construction or closure.

the hotel is old and the rooms are needing remodeling. The faucets in the bathroom leaked all night, the walls are so thin you can hear the people in the halls and on both sides along with tv's.

The location of the hotel was great...within walking distance to bath house row but slightly outside the main stretch so traffic wasn't as bad. The staff was helpful with directions and accomodations however we did have a few problems. We ordered a package deal with tickets to the theme park, tower and room. We picked up our tickets early since check was not until 3pm. When we got to the theme park the tickets would not scan and the attendant stated that the tickets may have already been used. Luckily, she let us in the park. We returned to the hotel a little after 3pm to check in and our room still wasn't ready. We waited for about 30 minutes until they finally checked us into a different room. The rooms definitely have not been updated but were fairly clean. The bathroom was tiny and extremely old (this was my main turnoff of the hotel). The hotel reminded me of the hotel from the shining and even looked like stuff was smeared on the walls in the hall. Overall it wasn't too bad, but I would rather spend a little bit more for more updated amenities.

We had a wonderful stay during our weekend getaway. The room was clean, the staff were very knowledgeable and accomodating. The non smoking room was next door to a smoking room and the smoke was VERY strong in our room and we have asthma. We could hear the guests next door conversing. No hot water one night for a shower. Overall, we had a wonderful stay."
