Didn't get the LCD tv in our room. Also could not book the king through the hotel but was able to do so online. They said the king rooms were sold out -- weird. Maybe their nice kings that were sold out had the LCD's? Fullest array of toiletries I have ever seen for a less than 5 star hotel. Great restaurants, close to everything. Far away enough from the bars and nightclubs but close enough to walk to. Very neat. A nice almost all-inclusive place. Oh, and had a business center with computers, printing, and faxing with free wi-fi. Glad we picked this to stay at!! Would stay again.

I would rate this hotel only as fair. The room for the price was adequate. I have stayed at the Matrix many times and expected that the Varscona would be the same. Vascona charges for water in your room - Matrix does not. My biggest disappointment was the small room available for the wine and cheese and breakfast. I landed up not staying for breakfast as I couldn't even get in the door! Tried several times. Do not even have to-go coffee cups. What a disappointment. Would never recommend anyone to stay here.

Stayed at Varscona from 10/1-10/3/2007. Pull up to the front of the hotel, on a side street, and unload your luggage in the lobby. They park your car for you. Give them 10-20 minutes and they bring it around when you need it again. The complimentary wine and cheese tasting was great; Concierge Room staff was welcoming and friendly - also had grapes, crackers, salsa...wonderful way to unwind at the end of the day. Murietta restaurant next door was wonderful - enjoyed their food a lot! The front desk staff was helpful and efficient. Loved that the Second Cup coffee shop was adjoining - very convenient. Beautifully furnished lobby, and room- loved the toiletries...smelled wonderful! Breakfast was good too. Good location to walk to surrounding shops and restaurants. Went to West Edmonton Mall first but we loved Old Strathcona better. Even close to the Antique Mall. Easy to get back to the airport too. I'd stay there again. Couldn't make the room colder but it was okay.

This boutique hotel has a great location on Whyte Avenue and has a wonderful wine tasting event every week night. Usually 2 reds and 2 whites, as well as a nice cheese plate. The noise could be bad depending room location. Ie. facing the street compared to facing the back. The buffet breakfast was also adequate: fruits, cold hard boiled eggs, toast, cereals, coffee, tea, juices etc. and also wait service. Only problem was with a wakeup call not being made, but otherwise staff was excellent. Has a great pick up location for airport limo service.I would stay here again.

I stayed at the Varscona for a week-long training course, and had this as one of the recommended hotels from the training company. The wine tastings after dinner-time were a nice treat. The location quite good, directly on Whyte avenue (which is the main strip of Edmonton that sees the most action). There is an Irish pub directly connected to it, adding to the convenience. I was happy with the included continental breakfast as well, with a pretty good layout of standard breakfast food (eggs, toast, muffins, etc.)
