Called "rustic," this hotel needs updating. Rooms feel unclean after years of use. Heavy smell of cheap deodorizing products permeated the room. Pleasant front desk staff, lovely restaurant location, right on the Willamette River. Claim to fame is crab chowder @ $9/bowl. Flavor was ordinary, and I really had to search for the crab. The offer a buffet for $15 which is a better overall value, but again, the quality is just ordinary to my taste. Breakfast was a a little better, but nothing to recommend. The restaurant staff was pleasant. I won't stay at this hotel again, and probably won't eat at the restaurant again either.

For our Anniversary we went to the U of O football game and decided to say at the Valley River Inn that evening. The Valley River Inn offers a shuttle over to the stadium and back to the hotel for a minimal fee. This made the arrival & departure from the game very easy. The room was very nice and we had a wonderful stay.

Great place to stay by the river. The staff was very friendly and service great. We loved that they had an airport shuttle.

Even though the hotel allows dogs we never heard one baking. The staff was helpful and friendly. The restaurant was delicious and had a great view of the river. If you have a room overlooking the river, it doesn?t get any better than that. The rooms need to be updated and the carpet is too old for my liking, but if you get a room in the courtyard building they are better with new comforters. They have a very nice outdoor pool but it is not heated so keep that in mind if you have kids.

Staff amenable for handling problems in room. Our room was not what we ordered originally: balcony, handicap, river view, king size bed. Staff reduced rate as compensation. Food was excellent as was service. Maid service was willing to work around our schedule. We enjoyed this hotel, staff, and services.
