The front desk person was very helpful. There where a lot of children enjoying the pool. The hallways where filthy! The carpet needs to be replaced in the room. This is a dated hotel. It is what it is.... Good location, not clean, hard bed, but cheap.

Close to destination. The area was not safe, beds uncomfortable, toilet paper is cheap, smoking oder was very strong,TV remote did not function well. I have stayed at better quality hotels/motels for much less then what I was charged here. Would never go back again. Did not feel safe staying at this hotel. Not worth your money. I would not even give it a star.

Every one is very nice and the place is looking a lot better. But they need to do something about the front desk guy, the breakfast was not stocked, we were out of coffie and he was sitting behind the desk talking on the phone(a personal call not business) for over 20 min. when i asked for more fruit he said breakfast was over in 20 min soi he was not putting more out. but its well worth the money even if you have to deal with people like that. my room was very nice I have a dog and there was no problems.

i had a really great stay here the staff was great and the hotel was well worth what i paid. i think some people just complain cause there haveing a bad day, but over all i would tell everyone not to always belive what other people say. there is lots of things to do and you dont need a car to get there which was good cause i arived in an airport suttle . there are fine dinning, parks, musems, my room was very clean and it looks like there cleaning up the place. i tell everyone i know to stay here when they come to sacramento.

The Vagabond Inn Sacramento Midtown was very run down. The hallways smelled of mold with the walls covered with patches of spackeling. The carpet in the room was spotty. The side of the mattress was torn with stuffing hanging out. The air conditioner would not shut off and the window screen had a large hole. The room was large and it did have two chairs and a desk. The location was near my conference and near several restaurants and fast food places.

I have stayed here before the new managment is great, but the moring front desk guy was very rude!! new managment has really cleaned the place up. the location is very good with plunty to do and eat. Houskeeping has really improved the room cleanlyness. When I come to sacramento this is the only place i will stay

For the money you pay it's a good room.

We had a bridge tournament at the Doubletree on Arden Way, so the location of this motel near a freeway entrance was a plus, but we will never stay here again. The carpets and drapes were dirty, and the walls looked like they hadn't been painted since the place was built, and it's an old building. House-keeping didn't even clean the coffee pot, and I'm sure they didn't vacuum before we got there. When I complained that our key often didn't work in the outside lock, the manager(?) just shrugged and said it did finally work. There were no minimum amenities that one usually expects in a bargain motel. The toilet handle had to be held down to get a flush; the sink backed up; the bathtub had been patched; the bathroom door wouldn't shut; we got only one hand towel; and the elevator stuck and opened its door four feet below the second floor. The fan in the bathroom was so noisy, we couldn't use the light over the mirror, which is on the same switch as the fan. Bathroom floor was sticky. That's all I can remember, but it's enough.

I got in very late and had to leave very early...I only spent 2 hours at hotel. Staff was helpful in letting me check in so late.

I have nothing negative to say about the hotel. It is great if your looking to go cheap. I expected it to be a bad hotel from all the bad reviews. Its in a decent area. Both rooms I booked were nice and clean. Didnt have any problems with staff.

My room had roaches I killed 5 one of which was in the hallway. My fire alarm kept beeping the maintence guy had to take out the batteries. My toilet overflowed twice did I mention the roaches. The staff was so rude the management was n/a. I have stayed at this location twice before and never have I had such an ordeal I will never stay there again. Folks beware don't go their is a Motel 6 across the street stay there.

first the hotel stinks of bad body odor masked with horrible perfume. then the girl up front refuses to say " you're welcome", everytime i said thank you she replied with "yeah". we get to our room and its dirty, when we tell the front desk she said "well the housekeeping said it was clean." the second room we get has a broken air conditioner and the oldest, smellest pillows you have ever laid your head on. i was so tired i waited to morning to change rooms and the rude man at the front desk said i should have changed rooms the night before.the rooms didn't have a fridge like the add says. i asked to speak with the manager.they told me to take a buisness card and call on monday, ican't bother him on weekends.and their "breakfast" would leave a starving man starving. this was the worst service and three room changes i have ever had.

"Arrived late Friday night, the couple ahead of us seemed to be engaged in a business deal. First room we were put in had two full beds; I had reserved two queens. Second room stank of old smoke. Questionable stains on the sides of the mattresses. Backside of the bathroom door had finger grime that hadn't been cleaned in ages. Bathroom floor and carpet were equally in need of some serious steam cleaning. Bathroom sink cracked and leaked through to the floor. Pool had been shut down by the board of health. Won't stay there again."

"Unortunately i did not read the reviews before booking. i just needed somewhere convenient and with wifi (which was horrible). The bathrooms are in need of upgrade, strange residence tht made me want to lock everyhting I had and keep my eyes on my rent a car. I thought midtown sacramento will have better hotels than that. ITs the capital for goodness sake. Please if you're looking for a good hotel that is comfortable this is not it."

"The hotel had street people going through the dumpster when I got up to go out the second morning. My door would lock when open and I needed my card to close the door. I never felt safe there. A convienent location for highways 99 and I 80, but I could not recommend this to anyone."

The location of the hotel is good as it adjoins both off-ramp and on-ramp for freeway. Makes it easy to get around. Hotel is old and needs to be upgraded especially in the bathroom area. Was not able to have a downstairs room as there was only smoking rooms on that level. Service was adequate.

While checking in hotel the desk clerk had radio blaring in the office and an attitude to boot as if i bothered her.;Kids whoes parents picked them up at hotel hanging oin the pool and spalshed us and used every curse word you can think of.Other than all that I have to say at least I had a lock on my door. Some scarey people staying on the 3rd floor.Overall i will be going somewhere else to stay next time I'm in town

"Weighted with the price paid, this was an average bargain overall. I asked for a non-smoking room but was given a smoking room or at least what used to be a smoking room. The odor was very apparent for a non-smoker. The shower was below average because of inconsistent water temperature. The sleep was good (but I was dead tired). Luckily, no fleas."
Date of Stay:
June, 2006
"I had two separate rooms. The non-smoking aspect is virtual. Hotel is older and shows its age. Busy downtown lots of traffic and bustle, equals noise. Breakfast, instant coffee, cherios, and vending machine pastries, did offer fruit. Rooms are econmical so you get what you pay for."
