The hotel was very clean and the staff was eager to please. My only negative is that I was unable to use the room phone to call out. I was constantly having to call the front desk in order to be switched out.

this is the second time i stayed at this hotel and have on both visits found the staff very frendly and helpful the hotel was clean in a very good spot had no worries or concerns on the safety side the breakfast is first rate the hotel did have both lifts out of order which been on the 6th floor was hard going when you are not a spring chicken but by morning the next day one was back working a big thank you the mutton curry was great just the way we like it and so was the party the hotel also did a curry for 20 people to take away as i was doing a 80th birthday party for my parents thank you all concerned and when im back in durbs i will be back to stay

Traveled to Durban for one week in May 2009. This was my first trip to Africa. The hotel was clean, the staff very willing to help, the restaurant and bar better than decent. The rooms were cozy and generally comfortable and quiet. The location isn't in the safest part of town. It's right on the beach and a great spot during the day, but my companion and I were advised not to wander around after dark near the hotel. I never felt unsafe, but we were definitely extra cautious (as you should be when traveling to South Africa - and any big city in the world). Needed to use an ATM one evening and a member of the staff walked with me around the block to the nearest one. He said I shouldn't go to an ATM alone. More expensive hotels up the beach were generally considered to be in safer areas. Buffet breakfast. WiFi (with voucher purchase) available in the rooms. The business lounge has to computers with internet, but the were both out-of-order for the length of my stay. I'd love to travel to Durban again and if I couldn't find a great deal on a hotel further up the beach then I would consider staying here again.

The hotel was ok. I'd recommend it for someone who is staying in Durban for a day or two. The main thing I didn't like was the location (the beach is not very clean). The hotel front desk staff were not very friendly. Overall the room was cheap so I can't really complain that much.

The manager of the hotel was very helpful and even accomadited my request for a sea facing room.

The people were lovely, free internet always a bonus. Breakfast was v good and the bar had a great friendly atmosphere and tasty snacks available till late. Unfortuanately as it is so close to the city centre (beachfront views) you do not feel very safe to walk around and are warned not to walk behaind the hotel which is a shame.

My experience was very good in this hotel and the service was excellent their breakfast was out of this world. They need to change towels they were very old and rough.
