before leaving for my trip i read the reviews about this resort. the reviews were mixed, some said the hotel was horrible and others said it was ok. i figured i would see for myself. now i know better! the hotel is broken up into two parts. one section is near the beach , the other section is across the street where the rooms are not that great! my room was on the ground floor, bugs would come from any opening. the air conditioner made a rattling noise all night long that would wake me up and it also leaked water. the maids only gave you two towels each day and i swear they would just pick the dirty ones from the floor and hang them back up because everytime my "clean" towels were just flung on the rack and they were always wet. the pool was dirty each day with leaves and cups that i saw from the previous night. the drinks were watered down at the bar and sometimes the bartenders didn't even know how to make the drink you ordered. i ended up losing weight on this trip because the food was terrible! if you waited for someone to take your drink order in the dining room you would be waiting all night! i would not reccommend this hotel to anyone!

I based my trip upon the reviews given by Yahoo reviews and I was sadly mistaken. Let me say this: I am not a high maintenance traveler, I'm actually pretty ghetto, but Casa Laguna was such a rip-off. I had bed bugs that literally bit my face and I had two huge bites on my face all day the second day. The rooms were dirty and had bugs in the bed and bathroom. The beer is terrible, not the local Presidente but some cheaper watered down junk. And the liquor comes straight from plastic jugs of the cheapest nastiest stuff you can find. Do you like Mojitos? They have ready-made mojjtos that come from a pre-made powder that they stir into water and then add rum... disgusting. That is pretty much how every drink is. All the drinks were so bad that I just got mine at bars outside of the resort. Further, the food is nothing worth writing home about either, actually substandard considering that DR has such a wonderful cuisine. They try to get you for everything, every penny. How can you relax in an environment like that? Usually, if I thought the place was bad I wouldn't say anything, but this was beyond the pale. The last straw was when i checked my credit card back in NYC to realize that they charged me double the rate plus all these additional hidden charges. Beware!
