Perfectly suitable! The Tree hotel was a great place to stay for my boyfriend and I to enjoy a night out in Oxford and not worryy about driving home. The room was clean, light and airy. The furniture was a little tired but we certainly felt comfy and the breakfast was nicely cooked!

OK - but not for the priceA pretty bog-standard lower-range hotel. I must admit that for the price (£72 per night for a double room) I had expected something a bit better. Also, there's a pub downstairs and our room was directly above it. I didn't manage to get to sleep until well after 11pm when things finally went quiet... We noticed the noise the moment we arrived, but were told the pub would shut at 10-10.30pm at the latest. It didn't. Very irritating, as if I'd known, I would have asked for another room from the outset...On the positive side, the staff were very friendly (or should I say 'was', there seemed to be just one guy running the place on his own).

Needs basic attentionThis accomodation is rated as 4 star g in late rooms which is according to aa policy ( it says in ratings explained) but the sign on the hotel is actually 2 star rated by AA and RAC, which is more accurate.Although previous comments had prepared me for slightly outdated rooms, it was very dissappointing to find that the net curtains in this room were so dirty, that I was tempted to rinse them through in the sink myself, also there was what appeared to be some kind of food sauce on the curtains. The hotel itself is in a beautiful spot, but be warned that taxis in and out of town were approx 7 - 8 pounds, tho there are buses available during the day.The staff were polite, and the breakfast was quite nice, but a one hour window of service from 7.30 til 8.30 was a bit inconvenient as well.

Great hotel, bad cancellation policyService and rooms were fantastic - however, make sure your plans are pretty fixed, the hotel operates a 4-day cancellation policy. However, for the size of room and facilities available, you'll be hard-pushed to find better value *anywhere*. Huge bathroom, massive double-bed, stacks of wardrobe space, room to stretch and great views from my window. Unfortunately all rooms are non-smoking but this isn't a setback, even for me with a 20-a-day habit.

Very nice. Very clean. Very good value for money. My single room was compact, but had everything I needed, and felt quite homely. A much nicer experience than walking into your local Travelodge.

Second time at this hotel, really friendly and helpful staff. Good location, a short bus ride into town and close to the canal for a morning walk. Easy for parking too.

The staff were very friendly with excellent customer service. The hotel was dated and needs modernising however was clean and good value for money given the price we paid. The room was very basic and needed a make over but clean and comfortable.

First impressions are lasting! The room we were shown had a hideous decor of pink bedding and ageing fittings. One of the single beds in the rooms had a selection of hairs still on the pillow and covers. Ensuite was very basic with vinyl flooring and small shower cubicle. We surrendered the keys and left for another destination. Definetely not deserving a 4* rating and more likely 2* in our estimates. Undertsand now why this hotel does not post photos of the rooms on the website and prefers to show food images instead. We decided to eat before leaving as it was lunch and we were starving. The bar was pleasant enough though not enough to keep us there for any longer than was necessary.

Regarding the food, we only had the breakfast, dinner looked good but we decided to eat in town. The only reason I wouldn't stay there again is that there are other places to try but it was a good stay. Thanks

When I arrived I had a pleasant welcome from the guy in the bar and the restaurant manager booked me in and explained where things were. Service here and in the restaurant was excellent! The food in the restaurant was really good and there's a nice atmoshphere in there - it's also inexpensive for the good quality and variety on offer. The rooms were immaculate, I've rarely stayed anywhere as clean. My only complaint is that on checking out I was served by a gruff man who showed no customer service at all who basically took my payment without showing any interest in me as a customer. The hotel lost score here but I would stay at the Tree Hotel again as hopefully this was a one off.

Found the staff great, helpful and friendly. The toilet however did not flush properly and was not fixed when reported, second room facilities were all working and fine.

We stayed at Tree Hotel for 2 nights. Had double room at front of hotel over bar area. Despite this it was very quiet. Room quite dated (1970s style corner bath, furniture etc) but was very clean and spacious. Perfectly adequate for our needs. Breakfast was very good and there were the weekend's papers to read which was nice. Had dinner in the restaurant (Annora) on the first night. Food was quite good though not everything was authentic and was pretty expensive for what it was (we had Thai food - rather strange Phad Thai which was tomato based!). Service however in both hotel and restaurant was exemplary. Location was great. Near to Iffley Lock. Very pleasant walk along tow path of river into Oxford. Nice pub on the way back that did great cakes! Taxi from train station was about £8 and minicab into town was abotu £4. Overall very pleasant stay and would go back.

Decor needs updating and decorating needs a single stylerather than a mix & match of styles. tv sets in rooms should be upgraded as well as fixtures & fittings in bathrooms. This done it will be a 'cool' hotel to visit. perhaps even just for the decoration & style! Fantastic food at therestaurant. Information about the hotel should be made available in all rooms.
