I am well-travelled, so I'd like to think I know motels/hotels. Our room was super-small with barely enough room to even walk in (even without luggage), the room smelled of stale cigarette smoke, the carpet was dirty, the "manager" at the front desk was as incompetent as her staff (didn't know their head from their you know what), and the breakfast food was a joke. For the price we paid, I found that we could have had a much better room, seemingly better service, and definitely better food at about three other places in town. The view at this hotel -- advertised as the only one in town -- isn't worth any price. Better to get a good room with good food and hospitality and drive up to the monument for the best view of all -- right in front of you! By the way, the convenience store across the parking lot is expensive as all get out. Stop at a grocery store in one of the bigger surrounding towns to get your stuff before you head to Keystone. Evidently everything is a ripoff in this tourist trap.

Our room was never cleaned. The teenage staff made rude comments to our daughter. Upon check out they refused to give us a receipt and overcharged our credit card fraudulently.

From checkin to checkout, the staff was courteous, knew what to recommend for everything whenever I had a question. This hotel, the staff, the area, made my stay extremely enjoyable! The bed was comfortable, I slept very well, and the room was clean, neat, and housekeeping kept it that way for my entire stay! I will stay here again if I get a chance to come back to the area!

We had 3 kids and the room was pretty small. The street noise was easily heard from our room. The pool was not operational. Continential breakfast was pretty skimpy. It was close to the site we were going to be touring.

Check in & check out were "very easy" & the staff was so very friendly. We were just passing thru but we would stay again. Very nice & the "good" coffee & the fireplace & comfy furniture was a very nice addition as it was very cool & rainey. Spotless!!Breakfast was good in the AM & the whole hotel was just spotless.

The only thing I had reservations about was parking spaces. Not enough spaces, but it is located in a very good area. You can get to alot of places from there. Pretty centrally located. We even had a view of Mt. Rushmore from our room, stepped outside on veranda and saw the night lighting of Mt. Rushmore with the couple next to us.

The Travelodge at Keystone was an excellent value. We were not traveling to Mt. Rushmore to spend time in the hotel, but to spend time at the tremendous locations this hotel sits in the middle of. The rooms were simple, neat and clean. The staff was very helpful and courteous. It was a quiet place to catch a night's sleep and head out for another day of adventure's.
