Hotel was no where the star rating it was given. The staff was very impolite. The prices for the mini bar was very unreasonable

This hotel is in a great location on N St. and fairly close to a Metro stop. Felt pretty safe there and it was a great room. I only had to talk to the people at the front counter a few times and they were very helpful and friendly. I was able to check in a few hours early too. The only complaint was that it was a bit pricey. I had never been to DC before, so I didn't know a good place to stay. This is a good place to stay, but check prices first.

While the the location and the ""theme"" of the hotel are nice, the staff are in need of a refresher course in hospitality. The front desk was fine and knowledgeable enough. However, dealing with the service staff in the hotel restaurant/lounge was terrible. Not sure if it's under different management than the hotel, but its restaurant portion is certainly not up to the hotel's service level.

I enjoyed our stay very much and loved D.C. Nice room. I don't have much extra money and wish I could've spent more on dining in the area. It was our 25th wedding anniversary and had heard about great places to eat, but had to limit. The extra money saved daily would have added up and made a great dinner.

Had typically been a fan of Topaz. However, after they overcharged my credit card I contacted the manager who indicated he would correct the problem. After several weeks of waiting, no credit appeared on my account. Called the manager again -- still no response. Contacted Kimpton headquarters -- no response. What a horrible way to deal with customers - if this is the Kimpton standard I will never stay at a Kimpton hotel again.

Very relaxing hotel. Wonderful staff. Excellent location. I had lived in DC years ago and wish I knew about the offerings on this street...a great restaurant right across the street (the Gates). Also the bar was fun. Starbucks just down the street. Loved the free New York Times on Sunday.

The front desk staff was on a par with that of a five star hotel. They were friendly, thoughtful and helpful. A lot of hotels could learn what hospitality really means by spending a night at the topaz hotel.

It was situated in an area where the service entrance to the hotel was, as well as other service rooms i.e. Linen closet, towel chute, custodial closets etc. My main complaint about the room is that the air conditioner was broken. I told them about this on my way out in the afternoon & was told that sometimes it takes a while. When I came back at night, the room was warm. I tried to call the front desk, but the phone in the room did not work. I tried to use it several times. I decided to walk to the front desk & told them of my situation. The person told me that I needed to push the button a certain amount of times to make it work. I explained to him that I had pushed the buttons all different ways, to no avail. He said that he would follow me momentarily. Twenty minutes later, there was still nobody coming to help. Since I could not call, I walked down there again & he came back with me & told me that it was broken. That was obvious. He came back with a fan for me & said that they had no other rooms available for the night. Needless to say, it was not a comfortable stay at the Topaz Hotel, & it was quite warm at night.

Excellently located hotel. I don't think this is a family friendly place but definitely for couples. Very nicely decorated rooms with excellent amenities. Would be nice to have complimentary breakfast included though.

I would not return to this hotel for love or money, rated as a 3 star, I would rate 2. Rooms especially bathroom need painting.

Hotel Topaz is tucked away behind Dupont Circle. It's stylishly decorated, and the rooms are clean and well-laid out. Next door is the Tabard Inn which is a great restaurant. And across the street is the Iron Gate which is another good restaurant. It's quiet on that block of N street, though there's lots of action in any direction. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Great location, but staff could be more helpful room 210 is an old banquet room that actually still has a divider with a hole at the stop.

Good location and a comfortable room. Rather dated with its animal prints. Worst element was certainly the staff. No warm welcome, smiles or anything close to friendly social interaction.

My overall experience was great, and the staff was extremely pampering. I loved the Aveda products and the organic tea was absolutely awesome. You can tell they care about their hotel with the quality of products they use.

I stay in DC frequently and have stayed in many hotels. This is the first time I have stayed at the Topaz and the experience was wonderful. The room was clean and very big, especially for a DC hotel, and most places charge you for internet while the Topaz does not. The staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxing. I will definitely stay there again!
