Tolcarne beach shacks june 09Had mixed views on staying in a surf shack at first as it sounded like it was going to be very basic. As it turned out it was very basic but very nice and the gorgeous weather made it a great weekend. Woke up at 9 in the morning and stepped over the wall straight onto the beach. Would recommend the places to anyone. Staff were very helpful and nice. Thanks alot.

On The BeachThe apartment was right on the beach with a fantastic view from the twin balconies of the main living area or from the skylight windows in the master suite. Beach was clean fine golden sand with the crystal clear Newquay water lapping over it. Surfers everywhere , relaxed atmosphere , sleeping with the windows wide listening to the surf was so restful. Bit of gripe about parking and access .NOT suitable for wheelchairs or the feint hearted due to the steep narrow access down the cliffs . 8 out of 10 for me.

Quirky, basic and brilliant! The Tolcarne Beach Shacks are so simple and gorgeous. We had a weekend of brilliant weather so spent much of the time outdoors, surfing etc and really only slept at the shack which was ideal. Not sure what we'd have done if the weather was poor as you really can't swing a cat. Not that I had any of mine with me. The lack of space is more than made up for by the experience - a couple of steps up from camping - and the view. You open the door onto the beach. Bliss. Only criticism is complete lack of drinking or eating implements - a kettle is provided in the communal kitchen but no cups / spoons etc. Not an issue if warned in advance but I thought it was self-catering ie: there would be some basic eating and drinking wares. We had to buy soke disposable cups in the end. Bathrooms are lovely. Staff are brilliant and the night security guy with Tye the dog is lovely. Him and the dog. We'll be back soon. With cups. Mx.

Probably the best value hotel I've ever stayed inTitle says it all really. Great quality rooms, unbelievable value for money, great location right on the beach, amazing views, great balcony, good size living space, not massive but easily big enough for a large group to pile into 1 apartment pre or post night out to eat and drink. It's about a 15 minute walk to the busier central part of Newquay which is great as it means you are near enough to the action to not have to bother with cabs, but far enough away that it isn't noisy at night. The beach was clean, sandy and not really that busy, considering we were there on a very sunny bank holiday weekend. The food in the attached restaurant/bar was good quality but portion sizes were quite small given what you were paying. But then I guess you're paying for the location really. Will definitely stay here again. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Excellent apartment and beachWe can recommend this two bed apartment to everybody who wants beautiful scenery and close to town location. Very clean flat with well equipped kitchen and comfort of two bathrooms. Tesco is around the corner so you can save a lot from self catering.

The most amazing place on earth! What can we say?! Three girl friends out for a fun weekend in Newquay, we were lucky enough to stay at these apartments. The road down to the apartment is a little steep and narrow, but worth it, the views from the balcony and upstairs room was litteraly breath taking. You felt like the sea came up to the windows, and the sand was literally on the door step. watching the world go buy, we almost didn't want to go out ever! You could look at the view forever. The facilities were perfect and very well equiped, 2 good sized bathrooms, althought the second bedroom with 2 single beds was a little cramped, but beds were comfortable. The steps up the cliff (all 139 of them) were a little breath taking on their own, but you soon got used to them and it was only a very short walk to the town and the station, or about a 10-15 min slow walk to the town centre for the bars and clubs. It was perfect - we didn't want to leave and we all want to go back! You must stay here!!!

rooms very nice, the steps up to the main road are killers and the road to the parking spaces is really narrow the entrance to the road was really small we could not find it at first, but seaviews really good would be really nice in summer. i would def go again.

What A View. The beach apartments are one of the best accomadations i have stayed in for a very long time. They were very clean, and were equipt for everything you would possibly need. Even though the down stairs living room and kitchen was a bit small for 4 adults it was fine as we were only staying the weekend. If I were to stay longer I would probably book the larger apartment. The upstairs bedroom was amazing with the windows opening out into mini balconies and giving a perfect view of the beach and sea! I would definately recommend staying here to friends and would stay here again.

Amazing Location!Couldn't have asked for a better location. Right on the beach (which in February half term was wonderfully deserted). 2 floor apartment, well equipped and very nicely decorated. Fantastic views, especially from the master bedroom. Our 2 daughters, 4 and 20 mths, loved it. Will definitely return again (probably in low season again......loved the peace & quiet at this time of year, and falling asleep listening to the waves).

This was a perfect locaton in terms of sea view i.e. right on the beach and is exactly as stated and the apartment was very well furnished, comforable and warm. We stayed in November particular for the dramatic sea and weren't disappointed. Only downside was Newquay being a bit restricted for decent places to eat but we did find some, and there are plenty of other places ie St Ives and Padstow in striking distance.
