Renovated rooms but not outside the rooms or parking lot

A young girl at the reception desk was very nice. It was very dirty. Very dirty. Could not sit on balcony chairs because the dirt was so thick and could not look out of windows because the dirt was so thick. The toilet kept running and ice machine did not work. I would not recommend this hotel.

Old (1960's) Holidy Inn style. Needs to be updated.

Easy check-in and a very nice breakfast in the morning. They appear to be in the middle of some remodeling but this didn't interfere with our time there. No noise. Rooms are fine, nothing special but we didn't spend much time there anyway. Our only complaint would be the hardness of the bed. VERY firm, but some people might like that. The location near Timmerman's restaurant is wonderful as is the restaurant.

The continental breakfast was good, we made our own waffles they were good. Very outdated, windows in room were very dirty, stains on the carpets. Carpet very dirty and stained, very outdated, windows in room were so dirty, it was hard to see out of them.

The staff at this hotel are fantastic. Very nice and accomodating. Rooms here were very affordable, but there were also many signs of wear and tear throughout the hotel, such as a leak in the cieling in the lobby, the juice machine broken at the breakfast bar, etc. If you're on a budget, this is a great place to stay. If you require a true high class hotel, you might want to look elsewhere.

We stopped here mid trip. Front desk staff was nice and tried to be helpful. Resturant was closed before10! Gross black water. Hotel needs work looked like they were about to start!

Easy to find. Hotel was poorly maintained. This is an old hotel, poorly maintained, breakfast was substandard.

This hotel has a great pool area. The pool actually has a deep end (8 feet) and is large. They also have a whirlpool and sauna, and bathrooms/showers. The rooms are a bit small, but the price is right. They also have a very nice continental breakfast area. Most hotels only have a couple tables in a cramped area, but Timmerman's has a nice sized area with several tables. We will be back!

This trip was business and pleasure with my wife. We have stayed at this hotel last year and was fine. Apparently it is under new ownership, but there was no sign stating that, but me and wife noticed that it was. The room was small, no hair dryer as was stated that the rooms have one, toilet backing up and plunger didn't help, luke warm water for showering. The hotel was undergoing remodeling that we were unaware of.

Clean, good value. Facility is looking a bit dated. Facility is looking a bit dated, but the rooms & common spaces are clean and a good value.

For value and location - you can't beat this hotel! It is old and charming and the lobby fireplace was inviting. The rooms are minimal, but clean and well kept. The supper club had wonderful views and we were expecting 'The Rat Pack' at any moment. Great atmosphere -- felt like we were taken back in time. And the food was very good and good prices.

I was returning to Dubuque for a class reunion. When I saw Timmerman's as a choice for lodging, remembering that it was THE place for fine dining 40 years ago, and the fact it was $200.00 less expensive than the next motel noted, I decided to stay. It is under new ownership as of late last year; the rooms are somewhat dated, but clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. A free breakfast is included with several choices, e.g. waffles, toast, muffins, bagels, hot and cold cereals, juice, fruit, etc. The location is very convenient to Dubuque even though it is located across the river in East Dubuque, Illinois. I had no problems getting to where I needed to be within a ten minute drive from the hotel. I did not eat at the 'supper club' as it was known, only because I stayed at reunion activities too late in the evening. For an economical stay, I recommend Timmerman's.

The staff members were polite and friendly. The hotel was quiet and the rooms were attractive. The wireless internet service did not work in my room. The hotel is slightly older than most in the area. However, the pool area is clean and well-maintained. The free continental breakfast has a nice selection of items. The staff is polite, friendly and very helpful. The rooms are kind of small but very clean. My only complaint was that the wireless internet does not work in all rooms.

I had never heard of this hotel, but because of its close location to the Grand River Center and price I chose to give it a try. When I arrived, I was not sure what to think of it. Looks can be deceiving. Staff was really nice. I went into my room and it was outdated, but comfortable. I decided not to judge based on that they were renovating parts of the hotel. I slept that night (and the night after) better than I had ever slept anywhere else before. Staff made it feel more like home than a hotel. When I left I thought to myself "That was a great place"

The history. Room wasdark andcold mattress old. This is a old resort. Parts have been remodeled, some parts are still out of date.

I have had several occasions to have brunch at the restaurant in the past. This was my first stay at the hotel. The restaurant was great and as usual the view during dining was absolutely astounding. The wait staff was extremely polite and did their jobs well. We got to know a couple of the waitresses by name. We not only had brunch, but we did have dinner there as well. Both meals were wonderful. The hotel was nice, clean and relaxing. I had forgotten my bathing suit, so I was unable to take advantage of the pool.

Friendly service and nice pool area. The outside is very run down. Don't let the outside fool you, staff is friendly and they have a good breakfast. There are shuttles in and out of Dubuque.

The Timmermann's was located on a bluff overlooking the Misissippi and half the rooms had a great view. The restaurant was a short walk away and looked down on the river. Very quiet. Probably best during summer months as it is a resort. We did not use the indoor pool and noticed it was very clean but did not seem to be used much. Five minute drive to Dubuque but other than the golf course and restaurant, nothing within walking distance.

August, 2008
The location was good -close to a golf course and close to Galena. The hotel needs to be upgraded - it is very 60's. The television was very old and very small. There was no coffee pot or hairdryer available.
