Even though this is considered a discount hotel you get a lot for a discount price. The room was great and the view was just breathtaking! We were so very pleased with everything. Not only did we have a big refrigerator in the room but there was also a pant presser in the room. The location was a few minute walking distance to everything, yet off the beaten path so it was nice and quiet! The breakfast had a huge variety and was excellent. There was also free internet use. Thank you Thon staff for making our stay so delightful.

Perfect location if you want to visit Bergen as a tourist. Basic hotel with basic facilities. However, internet facilities are not up to date. No wireless in the rooms.

We stayed here the summer of '08 and we couldn't be happier with the price and location. We took the shuttle bus at the Bergen Airport that takes you the SAS Radisson Royal Hotel also near the water, and we got off there since it was one of the stops; then, we walked 4 blocks from there to our hotel. Be careful, as there are a few Thon hotels! Bryygen is pronounced-Brew...gehn. We experienced friendly service, a comfortable room ( not huge nor luxurious), and a great full breakfast. The short walk to the waterfront area was perfect. The next day we took a short cab to the train station. We could have walked but we had a lot of heavy luggage. We wished we had more time than one day in Bergen; we would have stayed in the same location longer. Be prepared for one of the most expensive countries!

Thon Hotel Bergen Brygge is very well located in Bergen. It is within walking distance of all the major attractions of Bergen. The room was comfortable with nice cozy comforters on the beds. The big problem with the room was mold. The bathroom had a terrible smell of mold and triggered allergy symptoms. You could see mold on the walls of the bathroom. I asked to change rooms and was told I could the following day (3-day stay). But they never managed to find another room for us. They did send someone up to clean our bathroom more carefully. After that it smelled of both chemicals and mold. Staff seemed to view me as an inconvenience. I could not change hotels because everything was booked up.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in the summer of 2007. It was very conveniently located to Bryggen and all the happening places at the marina. Clean, budget hotel with courteous staff. Room was small but overall good value for the money. We only spent the nights there as Bergen and the surrounding fjiords kept us active for the entire stay. We recommend it for your couples on the go. If you want to lounge in a hotel, there are other places with more luxurious offerings.

Clean, well located hotel. Breakfast buffet was large with a nice variety of foods. Downside: About six steps up from the sidewalk and then four steps up from the reception area to lobby....no ramp...must drag luggage up by yourself. Near the old Bryggen section and fish market, lots of shops and restaurants.
