Nice location and full of character. Poorly stocked residents bar. No replacement of teas, biscuits, toiletries. Hotel generally in need of refurbishment and tlc.

Lovely Hotel - would recommendThe room was beautiful, the only problem being a missing mirror in the bathroom. The fire alarm went off at 07h00 on Saturday morning and my husband was rudely told to "go back to his room" because there was no fire. It seems that it was set off accidentally. Otherwise, the staff were lovely and the accommodation more than satisfactory.

I won't be coming here again! The Thistle Stratford upon AvonThe check in was perfunctory rather than welcoming. The bar at night was like a morgue and in the restaurant the waitresses were just sitting in a group chatting. Our room was dreadfully hot, the net curtains needed washing and the sash windows needed painting. the whole hotel has a tired, out of date, uncared for look about it. Breakfast was good but served by waitresses who seemed to find any request too much for them. The receptionist when we booked out was far more helpful. A disappointing stay in a hotel which seems to rely on its location rather than service and value for money.

ShabbyHotel needs a good facelift but according to staff, the hotel may be closing soon, so unlikely to get it!Terrible access for anyone with mobility issues.Room had peeling wallpaper and very faded furniture. Not been cleaned very well, and no tissues in the bathroom....when asked, told there we no tissues in whole of hotel!Good location for town centre and theatre.Staff very friendly and helpful.

Recommend !Stayed at the Thistle, £40 for a large double room on sunday evening !At that price you can't complain, right on the river and only £4 a day to park your car.Room was clean, very large with big bathroom.I have paid more elsewhere and had worse.Recommend !!!Nice on Thistle !!!

thistle stratfordOnly stayed one night, me and the wife out for a day at the races. Hotel room decor was a little dated, but very clean and everything worked fine. Staff were great.Location in the middle of the town, next to the river, perfect. Good value.

Nightmare in StratfordWhen I booked , not only did I tick the box for a Double Room I also added a note for a Double Room , I also stated I would arrive at 10 a.m > On arrival they didnt even have my Booking , saying that anything booked on a Saturday or Sunday doesnt appear on their Bookings until Monday , but said dont worry we have plenty of rooms available . I said good can I have mine now as requested . The reply was that no rooms would be ready before 2 , strange as she had already said they had plenty of rooms available . Anyway I disappeared and came back at 1.30 when they sais check in isnt until 2 because checkout is at 12 and they need that turnaround time . Then they gave me a room and it was a twin , i went back downstairs and reminded them I had booked a Double , they said they cannot guarantee any bed requests . So I took the twin room which was small , dirty , dusty and generally unpleasant . I go to Stratford once or twice a week and hope that the SWANS NEST hotel has rooma available next time as everything there is 100 times nicer .

it was my second time to this hotel. The breakfast buffet was spartian and poorly set out. I understand it is in low season, perhaps the staff could have made a smaller buffet table, and kept a better watch on empty platters.The staff were lovely and obliging. pleasant to stay there, and i will go back there.

Average hotel, well overpriced if you pay the full rate but of course you are paying for the location and the trade off is they can get away with an average hotel for a lot of £. Life.

Having often thought about staying at the Thistle the £50 deal for bed and breakfast was too ggod to resist, however the hotel did not live up to my expectations. Most of the hotel decor is tired, wall paper peeling back in the room which could easily have been repaired with some paste. The shower curtain was mouldy although genrally the bathroom and bedroom was clean. Having booked via laterooms when we went to check in we were told they did not have the reservation - they must not print them off during the weekend - the duty manager was very pleasant though.! The manger of the restaurant at breakfast was surly and her reception was not great. The cooked breakfast was very good, served by friendly staff although the buffet area was not fully replenished. It always amazes me that the attitude of some guests leaves a lot to be desired also which might account for the surly attitude - but we are not all the same. All in all worth the £50 we paid - would have been extremely diappointed if we had paid more

Breakfast didn't live up to the menu, especially the description of the continental menu. I think it said 'cold meats' and 'cheeses' - there was some ham and one kind of cheese.The whole place is a little shabby. I am aware there are a number of private hotels and guest houses in the area which provide better value for money.

I booked a superior room which was small and could have been cleaner. Recption hadn't received my booking but fortunately they had rooms available. Location was perfect very close to the theatres and the centre of Stratford. Was suprised to have to pay to use the car park! Breakfast was good but service was slow. Price was high for the facilities/ room on offer.

It was very very cold when I stayed and the heater in the room had not been turned on. It would have helped warm the room, if only slightly, and improved the first night.Everyone is helpful and nothing appears to be too much trouble.

The room was small and somewhat shabby. There were many broken and missing things including an exposed/broken light fitting above the bathroom basin, cracked tiles and mouldy grouting, non working electric towel rail and no extractor in the bathroom. The bathroom door did not close properly and the toilet flush was 'cranky'. The wallpaper in the bedroom was stained and torn and there was sufficient dust on the pelmet to assume that some areas were never dusted. The bedclothes were of poor quality, were stained and torn and the pillowcases were put on inside out. The pillows were terrible! The common areas in the hotel were less shabby but at breakfast we noticed that curtain tie backs seem never to be dusted and on our first morning there were party streamers and food debris on the floor underneath the tables. Breakfast was OK, But I would be unhappy if I had to pay for it as the food was overcooked and of poor quality (rubbish sausages full of gristle). Finally, the frontage of the hotel was spoilt by the tide of fag ends which did not seem ever to get cleaned up, though the broken bottle which was there one time was cleared away (good to see some standards anyway, but surely they must have noticed the fag ends?)

The Thistle at Stratford is great for the £50 room rate I paid with breakfast included. If I paid £100 I would not be so happy. The rooms are OK but dated - fortunately this suits Stratford. The dining room is very well presented, the breakfast satisfactory. The location is perfect opposite the RSC and easy walk to all the town ammenities - Dirty Duck pub just down the street. Car parking £4 very reasonable (paid £13 at the Crown Plaza B/ham next night).
