My impession of the hotel was mixed. I did get a smoking room as requested (A big + these days) and the staff was very friendly. I ate in the restearant once with a big family group and the food and service was excellent. On the down side the room was very small for a couple and there was a problem with the heating. It was very, very warm in the room, so much so it was difficult to sleep. A fan was provided in place of the A.C, but it was not adaquate. Also lack of hotel parking was a inconvienienceIn summary the room was very poor, but the front of hotel (reception, restearant etc was very good.

We pre-paid but hotel couldn't find payment details and took our credit card as backup. We were told our card wouldn't be charged. A month later we received a receipt showing that they'd charged us twice. If you're in a business suit you'll be treated well, but don't dress down or expect to be treated with less than wonderful service. We were not impressed and won't be visiting the Thistle Manchester again.

I read several reviews of this hotel before staying there and was a little worried, but the hotel was actually fine. The hotel looks and feels like a good quality hotel when in the lobby and bar/restaurant, but the rooms and corriders really need refurbishment. The room was quite small but clean and adequate. As other reviews have said, I would have been disappointed had I paid the full advertised price, but at 71.gbp for a central Manchester hotel it was fine.

A feature not listed anywhere on description: THIS HOTEL HAS NO AIRCONDITIONING! Not that its broken, it doesn't exist. Windows have locks allowing the 6 inch legal maximum opening. Not a great summer stay! Excellent Maid Service, friendly staff. WIFI is about 20 for 1-hour.

The staff at the hotel that we encountered were all helpful and friendly, but the quality of the rooms was poor. The bed was comfortable and the linen and towels were clean but the rooms themselves were shoddy. There was wallpaper hanging off the walls, the curtains did not close properly, the carpets and bathroom floor were dirty, the mirror in the bathroom was coming apart, the rooms were cramped and the walls were waiver thin. Sorry but not the best experience and one i will not repeat.

The hotel was covered in scaffolding outside on arrival and then as we walked to our room there was masking tape on the walls where they had half painted, pictures were leaning against the walls after being taken off the wall! The room was boiling the a/c didn't work and the electricity didn't either, called reception and someone came to fix. Only booked hotel for the Jacuzzi, Pool and Sauna but Jacuzzi was out of order and there was only a sauna in each of the male and female changing room, no mixed so couldn't speak to wife. I will be writing a complaint direct to Thistle.

OK, it was European cup final night, but I had appalling restauarant service: 2 hours for a 3 course dinner.I had to request a glass of water 3 times. The wrong white wine was delivered, at room temparature [not chilled] and corked.I waited half an hour for the wrong pudding to be delivered. There was no toilet brush in the bathroom.

No Hot water available all day. Phoned reception and said that there was nothing that they could do. Rooms are very small and there is no view from the windows. The walls are thin and you can hear people talking from the rooms next to you.

This is the scruffiest hotel I have ever stayed in. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone even if it was free. At over £100 for one night it was the worst value possible.

Centrally based. Unfortunately my room smelled of a combination of fast food (from the many outlets nearby) and stale smoke. The rooms may now be non smoking but the curtains and carpets have not been cleaned since July. The hotel generally apeared grubby. I was woken several times during the night by my neighbours snoring. The staff however were very fiendly and helpful. Restauant food was ok but I would not pay £12 for breakfast. The price of the room was way over the top.

I only stayed 1 night and didn't take the breakfast so I can't comment on the food. The hotel was really handy for Piccadilly Station and the centre of town which was our main concern. We had a small but very clean central room with a terrible view, but at least it was quiet.

If I was paying full price for the room I was given I would have been extremely unhappy. The hotel public areas were very nice and in no way reflected the condition of the bedroom. Bedroom was barely bigger than the double bed, there were marks and dents on the walls and the only way to keep the window open was to use the air conditioning hose to prop it open.

The hotel was not as modern as the Thistle website states. The room was very small and felt stale. The location is fantastic and this hotel would perhaps suit people who are not concerned about the decor or quality of lodgings.

Stayed 1 night for business, arrived at the hotel late at 9.45 so couldn't get seated at the hotel restaurant. (Walked in the rain to the next nearest one), breakfast was very expensive so did not eat. Were originally given a smoking room despite leaving notes that required non-smoking and airy room due to claustrophobia. Changed rooms to non-smoking which was significantly smaller, very tight (door did not opent to 90 degrees as the handle hit the wardrobe behind!). Again reminded the desk about my claustrophobia and requested to move to a room the size of the original one. On the third move, the room was again the same size as the second one so I have come to the conclusion that non-smokers are penalised with smaller rooms!Overall, roms are very small for £95 given breakfast is not included and there is no free parking, I have stayed in some lovely rooms for that price and this was not one, not a good place if your claustrophobic.

The room was ok the bathroom was absolutely disgusting, the grouting was black and the bath was yellow with smoke stains. The sink was leaking and was absolutely horrendous - luckily i only stayed one night

There was a mix up with my booking on arrival but this was sorted out pretty quickly, the hotel was fine but the room although clean had wall paper peeling off the walls and looked like it needed a paint job. Also no tea and coffee in room just a minor detail!! I would however stay there again it was very handy for town and im sure not all the rooms are like that.

The hotel was excellently placed in the centre of town, however, was a little over priced. The room was very clean but was small for the money. I think it would make very good three star hotel but a slightly disappointing four star.

The hotel appeared tired and in need of a facelift. The bathroom was extremely tatty with a broken air vent in the wall. It is well situated just off Piccadilly but no off street parking and it cost an extrea £11.50 to have the car garaged, which put the price of the hotel up - also breakfast would have been another hefty extra had I chosen to eat there.

Very disappointed with the hotel. The room was shabby and cold and everything was very dated. I could not close the window properly at night time and and as this hotel is located in central Manchester, it can get very noisy outside. My nights sleep was not helped by the fact that the person staying in one of the rooms next door decided to phone his girlfriend at 2am, talking very loudly on the phone for what felt like an hour. Really not worth the £105 that my company paid.
