Hotel was value for money, room clean had everything we could want, lesuire experince was great. On arrival we were met by friendly receptionist who checked us in smoothly and made us feel very welcome. When my partner went to the bar he was ignored for a good ten minutes before beeing served this was are only negative comment would go back to hotel,

Great Weekend AwayWe spent 2 nights at the Thistle Hotel and had a great time. The first impression was that of the very friendly and most helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a lovely meal and the service from the bar staff was excellant. The room we had was immaculately clean although a bit on the small side. It also had some torn wallpaper which slightly disappointed. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definately go back.

Tired In need of UpgradeWhilst the staff at the Thistle were extremely frinedly and helpful the room I was in had no Tea & Coffee making facilites, the sink was cracked and there was mould around the shower, bath and sink.On the whole the hotel is very tired and in need of repair. If I was paying full price I would have demanded my money back on the room.

Thistle IvernessVery basic hotel. On the outskirts of Inverness with nothing within walking distance. the room was boiling hot and couldn't open the window. If I did open the window the motorway noise was unbearable. Did not sleep well. Not recommended

Poor qualityPeeling wallpaper in the room, and mould round the bath not good. £75 a night too expensive.The staff polite, but offer a very poor service. they seem to be out of their depth. I am not sure that there was a manager on site, and certainly no one visable.I think that they need to get a reality check as they will be a very empty hotel if they carry on.

Inverness ThistleRoom was clean and comfortable but not well serviced. Two lights did not function and after reporting there was no apparent action or feedback; no laundry forms or "Do No Disturb" card. Drinks service in the restaurant was slow because everything had to come from the bar and possibly some understaffing.Food was good..

Thistle Review - 2009Hotel appears dated from the outside but inside it is relatively modern - a little bit too much dark wood make it appear a little dated. Staff are very friendly, the rooms are clean and the food is very good (although a little expensive)

The hotel was all right over all, only real complaint would be the bell on the lift my room was right next the it so every time the lift doors opened i could here it but apart from that all was good.The Free parking was also a good point other hotels in inverness are now charging to park.Overall i will be using this hotel again if i need a hotel in inverness

Quality & good valueI stayed in this hotel as the Thistle chain are normally very good and it was nearly half price compared to the Holiday inn along the road and some local B&B's were looking for the same money for a single room which I think is a scandal in the current financial climate.

somewhat disappointingOver the years we have stopped overnight in Inverness on the way north. The Thistle hotel used to be predictably pleasing, offering room service in a clean room, with a good wholesome breakfast. This time we were struck by the second-rate appearance of the building both outside and in the corridors which on opening the lift doors are gloomy and worn to the visitor's eye. The room was OK but there were some obvious problems viz: No light working at the RHS of the bed, a filthy cup in the drawer with the tea making kettle etc and a very tired duvet which had slumped into a solid felt matting! There was no room service provided and the worst element of the stay was the breakfast. There was no indication as to the cost of the breakfast and once in the restaurant one discovered that regardless of continental or cooked it was all £12.95. Perhaps that might have been acceptable but the cooked eggs, tomatoes, scones etc were cooked en masse and left to become inedible under the hot lamps, no fresh items being offered, indeed no member of staff present to assist in keeoing a steady flow of fresh food. There were some quite astounded visitors, we were not alone! Imagine a family behind us asking if they had to pay this exorbitant amount for their two small boys as well? I am afraid that we will not be back until we hear that they have put things right and I have already told friends and colleagues to avoid it.

The hotel messed up the booking so rather than having the 4 twin rooms I booked via Late Rooms, all they had for us was 3 twin and 1 single room. So our party was one bed short. The hotel was fully booked so spent half an hour waiting for them to come up with a solution. Thankfully they managed to find a further single room. However it was disappointing that we did not get what we booked. The single rooms were at the opposite end of the hotel from the rest of our party.

Poor value breakThe best about this hotel is the staff but there are too few of them. Right from the hotel's situation,next to a busy road,the poor state of the exterior,the dirty curtains,mouldy showers,uncomfortable bed,tired furniture and smelly corridors,this is a very unsightly hotel and one I cannot recommend. The leisure facilities were a bit better but very small pool.

Room very small for 3 star but clean and pleasant. Set up for one person although 2 were staying! Tea/coffee etc not replenished before we took over the room. Breakfast not included and was very expensive for wjat it was. And why cannot any hotel below 5 star produce a breakfast buffet area where the food is hot??!! Overall disappointed with the hotel.

A Thoroughly Good Nights stayMy wife and I had a thoroughly good nights stay in this hotel. The room was spotles, well supplied with extra towels , pillows douvets. There was also loads of tea, coffee and biscuits etc in supply. The staff were pleasant efficient and helpfull. the only negatives that can be found is that exterior could do with freshening up, to make it appear more welcoming as you arrive. Very good value for money. Five minutes from the City Centre
