My wife walks with the aid of a stick, and we found that the lift did not stop level with the floor and she had to be extra carfull when entering and exiting the lift.

Hotel good VfM on laterooms, but a few annoying gripes. Directions to hotel could be a bit better; parking ticket didn't work; room card didn't work on second night; only one large towel instead of two for a double room on second night; invoice was wrong at checkout as another room's meals and room service had been added to mine; no apologies offered. Dinner in restaurant was very good; leisure facilities were excellent; decor nice.

Ok just okStayed for buisiness, lobby ect very nicely styled but room was dated. Wardrobe was broken but other than that no faults with the room. Seemed clean enough.

One July night at the Thistle. The hotel was convenient to the M5 & reasonably quiet. The room was clean and pleasant enough but lacked ventilation and had no air-conditioning.The bar drinks were over priced & lacked a real beer.I didn't sample the food but that didn't stop them trying to charge me for some! The car park was at the rear of the hotel and for a hotel on the outskirts of a country town jolly expensive. Charging for a parking space at this sort of hotel is a blasted cheek.I could have parked nearer than the car park for free but to reach the hotel you have to drive through the barrier and once inside you'll be charged. To make matters worse the ticket machine would not work properly & I had to repeatedly walk from the rear of the hotel to reception and queue up for some time to resolve the problem. As a result we were 15 mins late leaving the hotel on Saturday night and arrived at a function (the point of our visit) late. After checking out the next morning we had exactly the same problem, as did (at least) one of the other guests.Having the receptionist repeatedly tell us that, "we weren't putting the ticket in the right way round" didn't help very much either .... How B****y stupid did she think we were! From the point where my car was parked to reception desk is (one way!) in excess of 125yds. On the Saturday evening I walked it 6 times! I payed good money for that pleasure and if I hadn't thrown a wobbler the receptionist would have made me walk it twice more..I've checked-out this distance on Google Earth. What a "Shambles". I could have stayed at the newer Travelodge just over the road for considerably less trouble and money..Not a "Happy Bunny"!..... & NO, I would not stay there again.

ParkingHotel ok but certainly parking issues not only for us but many other guests also - as an out of town hotel we felt it totally unnecessary to charge £6 a night for parking it would have been quite simple for the hotel to validate ticket for staying guests - would suggest if they wish to raise more revenue they increase the room charge by that amount then no one would be any the wiser and the hotel would have far less irate customers complaining in reception.

Pleasantly surprisedThe room was nicely decorated, beds comfortable and the bedding good quality. The shower was a bit quirky, but function okay. The reception area and bar/restaurant areas looked attractive. An all round good deal. The only disappointment was the extra charge of £6 per car per night's parking and taxis into the centre of town were expensive (£8.00 - £9.50)

Good and bad at the ThistleStayed here several times, much better now non smoking hallways. Attention needed to curtains, each room we have stayed in has had curtains off the hooks. Would certainly benefit from air conditioning. Staff have always been friendly.

Good value if you don't pay twice!!Hotel room excellent. Pool small and busy. Breakfast was ok but only offered one coffee half way through breakfast. I questioned receptionist when he put my card through again when leaving hotel. He assured me that no money was taken when we booked in. Just checked my statement and I had paid twice, so not such a good deal!!!!! Would stay again but be very careful when paying.

Thistle Hotel, Cheltenham - Saturday Night StopThe hotel was clean and the public areas were modern and fresh. The bedroom and ensuite were a little tired but satisfactory for the weekend rate, had we have paid the full weekly rate we would have been a little disappointed with the bedroomand ensuite. The reception and restaurant staff were very pleasant. I disliked the fact that as residents we had to pay for the car park. I travel a lot on business and stay in a lot of hotels up and down the country and in particular around London - hotels in my experience do not generally charge for the parking unless the car park is operated by an external organisation like NCP.

Poor Experience at Cheltenham Thistle HotelThe room was messy, did not have any tea and the kettle didnt work. The mirror in the bathroom was broken and had been tapped up. Blue stain in the bath. The decoration was dated and in poor condition, the wall paper had been ripped of in a couple of places. So overall was an awful experience, we use late rooms all the time and have had lovely experiences apart from this one. We will not be going back again and dont recommend this one to any one else!!! It is not what you expect for the price and not a 4* by any means... The pool had a class in which we were not informed when we went down to swim.

vegan farceThe hotel was fine and the facilities were good. We decided to stay here so that we could use the pool and gym and have a relaxing evening without having to travel too far for food. Unfortunately although the food itself was on the whole good it took 40 mins to even have our order taken. My partner is vegan which means he does not eat any dairy products as well as no meat and I had attempted to make the dining experience go smoothly by mentioning the fact that he is vegan to the check in staff, who assured me the chef would have no problem rustling something up and also to the resturant manager half an hour before we sat down to eat. None of these measures however did make the experience go smoothly. The restaurant manager did not manage to talk to the chef and 40 minutes later we were told rather testily that 'he can only do a risotto'. I had a very tasty piece of fish and a normal amount of food but my partner was presented with a risotto about an hour after we sat down that was slightly on the small side. He ordered a bowl of chips to supplement the small portion and they arrived uncooked. It then took the staff about another 30 mins to produce a replacement bowl of chips. We however were not the worst off there were diners in all sorts of strife all around us and some of them really quite angry. It is only slighly unfortunate that in hindsight I realise I should have asked for a discount of some sort or at least for the chips to be removed from the bill but I wasn't angry and it didn't occur to me at the time.

Evening stop over at Thistle CheltenhamA great value for money evening in the Thistle. I had read a few other reports on this hotel and was a bit worried after booking. However the hotel room my wife and i had was great. Recently refurbished, tea and coffee, big plasma screen...all very nice. The reception staff where helpfull and the breakfast staff keen to help out. The hotel has a leisure complex, that we did not use, but it looked well frequented. All together a pleasurable stay and I would return.

A very well laid out Hotel- but with one big problemOur check-in at the Hotel was very quick, efficient and the staff were very friendly and helpful - just as they had been on our previous stay last year. We were infact given a free upgrade to an Executive Room which was a very nice gesture. We did not have Dinner in the Hotel so are unable to comment on the standard of food, however, Breakfast was absolutely terrible and not what would have been expected in a Hotel of this standard, especially at £14.95 per person. The tables were far too close together so there was no privacy what so ever. The food was very sparce and did not look appetising, and was cold. The staff did their best, but this is definitely an area that the Hotel need to review. We must say though that it hasn't put us off returning to the Hotel again in the future.

OK for business useIf on business, and only using for somewhere to sleep, this hotel is fine. The room looked to have been refurbished, and was good apart from the bathroom, which could have been cleaner. The reception / bar area had an odd smell and seemed very dated. Staff were helpful, but a few more of them would help - Took half an hour to check in. OK value for money, but would not choose for leisure purposes

A reasonable hotelThere was a large function on and consequently the level of service may not have been as good as at other times.

Currently being refurbished so allowances made for current state, but at reduced price still good value for money.
