my daughter and I stayed for 2 nights the lady that works at Chicory grille was rude and very snobby. I bet she cannot afford to stay at this overpriced place but yet she treats us like dirt. amazing

This was a special gift for my daughters, our "girls" night only and I was sorry I picked this hotel. I must have got the room for repair room, although they were by no means sold out. the pull out was broken, and nasty. I slept on the floor and let my daughters sleep on the bed, but not till I changed the sheets, there were little curly hairs in the bed, it was nasty. This hotel was a real let down for me, never again.

First stay in Birmingham in a long time. Wanted to spend a little extra money for what I thought would be a nicer hotel with all the little extras. Turned out to not be worth the money at all. However the upside first, the staff was very friendly. The rest; decoration very old, not renovated in a loong time. They charge you extra for *everything*, no free breakfast, no fridge, no free parking. Any of those options will be roughly $10 a day extra. The pool was very small and unappealing. You can stay at the $80 hotels, and get a fridge, bigger tv, bigger pool, free breakfast and free parking.

I requested a smoking room. Did not learn that the entire hotel is smoke free until our arrival. The desk clerk said that it was done thru law/legislation of the state. Ha! I find that hard to believe, since other hotels in the area have smoking rooms/suites.

The handicapped room was the worse I've ever stayed and we travel frequently. A wheelchair barely fit and there was no counter space.

I basically went to this hotel because I wanted some place that was safe and secure and not located in the woods! I reserved this hotel because I was in town for the Davis Cup Tennis Tournament betweeen Switzerland and USA. Although it might have been more convenient to stay in town closer to the Jefferson complex, I wanted access to shopping, etc. This was the best place simply because they arranged for a shuttle to and from the tournament daily. The hotel met my basic needs as I really only used it to sleep. I wished there were better restaurants in the area besides chains but other than that I was pretty satisfied.

Nice Hotel. Excellent location at Mall. Beware they charge extra for items standard at hotels that are half the price such as 10 for internet access/11 for parking & the list goes on. We will stay elsewhere on future visits to the area.

This was our first visit but we had heard great things from friends and family, so we thought we would give it a try. It won't be our last! The service was very good. We got there early (before the 3:00 check-in time)and was able to go on to the room. The front desk staff was courteous and helpful. The room was very nice and the bed was really comfortable. It was a little dated in spots but very clean. The only problem we had was not being able to work the TV options very well but we didn't spend much time watching tv anyway. The convenience of being connected to the mall was a big plus. No driving except to go to church. We enjoyed our stay and would definitly go again.

We stayed only for 2 nights but I had never slept in more comfortable beds... it was awsome. Staff was very welcoming and accomodating and the wake up call we got was the friendliest. We checked in late and the girl at the desk was as nice as they come!!.

Comfortable bed. This hotel has multiple ballrooms located on the lower level. Thus providing late night noise and antics if you happen to visit during a busy weekend.

No staff said thank you. There were food trays in hallway at 5:00p.m, Room not ready at 4:00 p.m. as promised, finally after waiting another 30 minutes and going back to desk the clerk 'found' a room, but I got a lower quality room and paid the same price, no adjustment offered by the staff. No apologies made for the extra wait. Clerk said that I was not the only one waiting...like this really mattered to me. This is just not the same quality of hotel as 7 years ago. Will not sray there again.

Lovely room service. Has changed the management many short cuts now we have come for 18 years. They closed the Chickory Grill&changed many of the most wonderful aspects of the hotel but the room service was tops, great pay movie selection, very clean room is in safe location, some may have problems with paying for the parking each day. Have stayed there over 18 years and they are in transition. They had a wonderful program called the executive club which gave great discounts for room and the great buffets but they discontinued that and appear to be in a state of flux. We have stayed there about 40 times.

The staff was great. The beds were very comfortable. I would expect an upscale establishment to have free wireless internet. The staff of the hotel made us feel welcome from the beginning to the end of our trip. I appreciated the comfortable bed. I had tons of work to be done and I did not get to do it because of the lack of wireless internet. The wired connection had a $12 fee. I have stayed in one star hotels with free wireless.
