nice big rooms, great location on sandy beach, great decks, I upgradeed to a 1 bedroom when i got there and it was worth every penny. Small consrtuction didn't bother us, it was almost done anyways.

Comfort and location awesome. Outside was under construction but was not a problem. The Whaler was great. It was right on the beach in the middle of all the action. Excursions and dinner right at your door. Having a condo made you feel more at home then just a hotel room. Friends stayed at a nearby hotel and I feel that we had it better. Would definitely return to The Whaler and bring my kids.

Great location and a very nice property. The hotel is in the process of redoing its courtyard which made for some daytime construction noise, but it wasn't too bad. 2 of the 3 elevators on one of the towers were out of service for much of the week which was very inconvenient for everyone.

We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary in Maui at The Whaler in mid-October 2008. The property was undergoing an extensive renovation program at that time. The courtyard landscaping had been removed thus exposing the concrete roof deck of the underground parking garage, the swimming pool was being reconstructed, and structural repairs of the parking garage were underway. The beauty of Kaanapali Beach had been supplanted by a major construction zone. It appears The Whaler is making a serious effort to improve its exterior infrastructure. Overall, the interior public spaces and finishes are well kept. However, judging from the condition of our room some interior renovation is also required. The room was spacious, we loved the layout, and the kitchen area was well stocked with whatever we needed. However, room 565 in the south building was well worn. The carpet and tile floors were not clean. Painted surfaces were dirty and in need of recoating. The furniture was marred and ready for replacement. Obviously, this weekly rental had been neglected for a long time and its condition was not worth the price we paid for it. If you decide to stay at The Whaler, try to get a north side room in the north building with views of the grounds at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel and the island of Molokai. Our south side balcony in the south building faced the shopping center and was subjected to the constant noise of its HVAC power plant. Bottom line: If you're staying at Kaanapali Beach you can do much better than The Whaler for about the same price or less.

Room was badly in need of updating, carpet was stained, veneer on wood furniture was chipped, drawers broken. No water pressure/little hot water. Staff was surly and unhelpful.

The hotel was horrible and had construction everywhere even the rooms surrounding us that we were not told about. The staff was horrible and internet did not work so they gave me a number to their internet provider so I could sit with support on the phone after I paid thousands for our trip and did nothing at all to make it up to us. Your staff at orbitz did not tell us about this and said he would give us a deal since our other reservation with another online travel company was doubled last minute. After spending $5,000 total, it was the worst vacation I have ever gone on and this is due to Orbitz and the Hotel staff. I will not book with you ever again or stay at that hotel. I definately expect something from this disaster as it was a huge waste of money. I would like to be contacted soon about this or I'm going to have to write reports everywhere about it. Very disappointed to have this happen to us after going through you and having the worst trip ever, especially for how much I spent. We were told it was a 4 star resport and they are timeshares and we were given the worst room there and had to pay more money every night for a better room that wasn't surrounded completely with extremely loud construction. Hotel staff talked down to us because we were not told about it and said it is our fault. Absolute worst trip I have ever gone on and saved for the trip for a long time. Very disappointed with both hotel and orbitz. -Kelly

The hotel was centrally located to the beach and shopping. The room was large. My balcony overlooked the clubs which prevented me from leaving the windows open at night. This was a great place to stay. It had great facilities and a friendly helpful staff. I would recommend staying here.

Our stay at The Whaler was great. Our room looked like it had recently been updated and was very nice and clean. It was like staying in a beautiful, tropical apartment. We loved staying on Ka'anapali beach. The location could not be better. There is a great boardwalk along the beach and you can easily walk to any of the other hotels. There are approximately 6. Great to be able to walk to dinner, a show or just another hotel to have a drink. My husband is a wheelchair user and rental fees on an accessible van are very high. Another reason the location is so great for us. We can get out without having to drive. This helps us save on our vacation. The Whaler is also right next to Whaler's Village. Fun shops, restaurants and even a little grocery store. Pefect. The only disappointing part of The Whaler is its pool. For adults it is fine but for kids it is a bit boring, especially after seeing the fun pools at the Mariott or Westin.

THIS IS THE BEST LOCATION.NEXT TO THE WHALER MALL AND MANY restaurants as well as great entertainment. Previously this November we stayed at THE WESTIN Maui and Spa. Let me tell you The Whaler impressed us way more then THE WESTIN you cannot top the whalers rooms. We had a studio that was great for two people. You cannot beat the price its very reasonable and well worth every dollar trust me dont spend your money going to the well known chains. The whaler has furnished studios as well as 1bedrooms or 2 bedrooms some with 2 bathrooms. The kitchen has everything you need a fridge a microwave a stove, a toaster, coffeemaker. The rooms are spotless very clean. To me I been to 5 star hotels and this is even better then a 5 star condo.

Located next to whaler's village shopping center, several very good restaurants, and a terrific beach! It's a time share resort. No upscale hotel ambiance, just a check in/out office. Friendly, helpful staff will provide any info you need for sightseeing. Outstanding location for shopping and dining. A perfect beach for moderate surfing, parasailing, swimming, or just relaxing in the sun.

There was much construction giong on with noise starting at 7am each morning. Not exactly the "Hawaiian experience" desired. Also, leaf blowers started up at 7 in the morning. The property was lovely and the setting was perfect. Lots of places to walk to and close by activitiesThe sofa bed was the worst we had ever experienced with a big wow in the middle. The staff was great and security was good.

I would never stay at the Whaler again - and have told many about my displeasure. There was major construction going on from 8:00 a.m. - to 4:00 p.m. - it was so loud we could not stay in our rooms and hear each other, the TV, even think. We rented two side by side condos, both were unbearable. When arriving the arrangements of getting two rooms side by side took over half an hour to figure out. Parking non existent. We paid an exhorbitant amount for daily parking and could never find a place inside the structure. There was absolutely nothing convenient about this experience. Two calls for sheets for the fold out sofa the first day resulted in my walking to the front desk and picking them up myself to be able to make the bed.

It was a condo room. No restaurants needs refurbishing. This hotel has very few facilities no restaurants. The hotel is in need of complete refurbishment, the rooms are very dated. We arrived at 10pm at night and there was nowhere to eat the hotel had no food. The local restaurants would not serve you with a baby so we ended up at midnight in safe ways. Trying to buy food.

When were first arrived and got our room I was never so disappointed in my life! The room #1264 was very run down. Carpet was filthy...so bad I wouldn't walk barefoot on it! The garbage disposal didn't work, the dishwasher leaked water under the sink, the microwave didn't work, etc. The entire condo was disgusting. Our son had rented the condo across the hall #1263 and everything was brand new and totally renovated, which was made ours look even worse and we had paid the same price, and NOT so cheap either. So after a day and a half I couldn't stand it and we were moved to the condo below. It was a little but not by much. It was a big inconvenience and disappointing that we had to move and not being on the same floor as our son. I think the "Whaler" had ought make sure it's owners keep their condo's maintained and not just rake in the money! I love staying on the Kaanapali Strip and I recommend if you stay at the Whaler check the room out first! I will not stay there again, nor recommend any of my friends or family in the future! BTW the same owner who owns this condo owns another one on a different floor, I think #364 and it is in the same condition and the employees knew that when we arrived but still put us there! Disgusting!

The location and size of the room was great all of the amenities. A little old. Could use some updating in the rooms. The hotel itself is very nice. Some of the rooms could be updated with new furniture. Other than that the whole place is very nice.

My wife and I stayed 11 nights at the Whaler for our honeymoon. We stayed in one of the ocean view studio units on the 12th floor. We had a beautiful view of the ocean and it was nice having our own kitchen to cook a couple nice meals to help us save some money. The room was great for the price, the hotel grounds were clean and well kept, and the front desk and other hotel staff were excellent. The best part of the Whaler is its location, lots of activities nearby and the most beautiful sunsets every night. We would recommend this condo-hotel to our friends and family or anyone trying to find a good place to stay in Ka'anapali. Overall we were extremely happy with our Hawaiian experience and with the Whaler as our hotel.

The property was undergoing renovation to pool area, which we knew before we went. We were able to use the property next door's pool so it wasn't a problem and work was during the day when we were out/busy. The concierge was very helpful in book our excursions. It was a great location, right next store to Whaler's Village market where you could find restaurants on the beach, fast food, shopping, coffee and ice-cream.Having a full kitchen was great for breakfast and snacks.

Location. Check in. Check in was the worst. "Welcome to the whaler Mr. Curran, may I have you credit card, thank you, oh no you have the worst room we have, ground floor next to the elevator". "We can upgrade you to a nice room on a high floor for an adult. but can I please have a room away from the elevator. "No you can¿t, enjoy your stay".

The rooms at the Whaler were wonderful, very spacious , clean and well appointed. The location was good. Some of the staff were very helpful, some were not too friendly. Our major compliant was the construction going on, including the jack hammers. The pool was being remodeled so we had to use a neighboring pool. There was continuing work being done, including cement trucks and all. It was very much like your commercial, that talks about construction at hotels and advising the guest before they get there. Though this is a non-smoking facility, it would have been nice if they had a few outside smoking areas with chairs. The location and the rooms are wonderful.
