FAQs

The following questions have been answered for you by The Westin Nova Scotian...

What are your breakfast options?
In Elements restaurant (our full service restaurant) we offer full buffet breakfast as well as a breakfast menu. The buffet is available daily from 6:30am - 10:30am at a price of $17.25 + tax. Our breakfast menu is available from 6:30am - 11:00am with prices ranging from $13-$20 + tax.

For guests looking for something faster than a sit-down breakfast, we also have Eve Cafe where guests can purchase coffee/tea along with muffins/bagels, etc., from 6:00am - 11:00am. Guests can also order breakfast through our 24 hours in-room dining option; breakfast is available from 6:00am - 11:00am and is similar in pricing and choices to the breakfast menu offered in Elements restaurant.

There are several coffee shops (Tim Horton's, The Wired Monk, Uncommon Grounds to name a few) within a five minute walk of the hotel where breakfast sandwiches and/or pastries are available.
What transport is available to get around?
Transportation to and from the airport is available by cab for around $50 per way, or by a service called the Airporter which stops at all the major downtown hotels. The price for the Airporter is $19.50 per trip or $36 round trip.

Most major downtown restaurants, markets, attractions, etc. are within walking distance of the hotel. However, the hotel does offer complimentary transportation to the downtown core weekdays from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, otherwise a short cab ride is the alternative. Driving your own vehicle in downtown Halifax is also an option but like any city, parking can be a challenge at times. The city also has a good transit system with pick-up on the far side
of Cornwallis Park (directly across from the hotel). The cost is $2.25 per ride and it's very easy to get down to Spring Garden Road (main shopping/eating district in the city). You can also get across the harbour to Dartmouth and Mic Mac Mall (largest mall east of Montreal) or out towards the Halifax Shopping Centre and Bayers Lake Business Park. It can get time consuming depending on the day (weekends are not as good for bus transit as the weekdays) but it is relatively straight forward and cheap. During the summer months (normally July - late October) Metro Transit also offers a service called FRED (Free Rides Everywhere Downtown). FRED has a set transit route along Barrington St, Spring Garden Rd, Lower Water St and up passed Citadel Hill. It is a hop on, hop off daytime service and is great for tourists as it passes most of the main tourist areas in the city.

You would require a vehicle to get to most beaches around Halifax as they are at least 30-45 minutes outside the city. However, most of the drives are along the coast and are quite lovely.
What can I do nearby?
The Westin has live local entertainment five nights a week in our lobby (5:00pm - 7:00pm outside of Eve Lounge). We also have a tennis court available during the summer months for guest use. We have a full Westin Workout Facility with cardio room, pool and hot tub. Yuk Yuks comedy club is located in our lobby with shows Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

There are more entertainment, dining and attractions outside of the hotel within 5-10 minutes' walk of the hotel.
Do you have internet?
We offer high-speed internet access and wireless high-speed internet access in all of our 310 guest rooms. The cost is $9.95/24-hour period.
Do you provide parking?
The Westin does offer valet and self-parking (both outdoor) to its guests. Self parking is $18 per night and valet is $22 per night. There are some metered parking around the hotel as well but not in any large amount.
