Many promised amenities were non existent (incl no heavenly bed). Were given a full bed when King was reserved, upon complaining they told us they were ""the same"" - not true. Room was tiny and cramped, staff was unable to move us when we complained. Shower flooded the bathroom. Had to call Starwood to get help, only solution was that staff offered ""free breakfast"" which we had already paid for as part of our package! So unhappy we ended up switching to a different hotel.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. My biggest gripe would be with the parking, which there isn't much of. This posed a problem later at night after I went out of the evening and had to park at an overflow lot down the street away from the attendants. Also, although I would expect to pay $20 per day for parking at a Westin, I wouldn't expect to pay that in Columbus. I would have parked on the street if the hotel hadn't been somewhat removed away from activity. I was too afraid given the isolation that someone might do something to my car. Westin's lot is attended 24/7.

Beware booking the ""traditional room,"" as you will be directed to the smallest rooms in what is otherwise a beautifully refurbished property: you will see the carpet change to a cheaper stock and the doors are cheap replacements. These are the ""junior suites"" without even a chair or table and about half a foot between the bed and walls; the a/c units haven't been replaced and they're utterly ineffective in Columbus's swampy, fetid summers. Pay more for a larger room as the hotel has some beautiful suites. Parking, at 20.00, is much too expensive for Columbus.

Historic Southern Hotel has great charm, but room sizes are small. Fine for a single or couple, but limited on space. The Westin has done a great job in updating the rooms. Wood floors, comfortable beds, flat panel TVs, heavenly showers.

Stayed here for my wedding night. I was given a corner room, so we heard everyone and they could hear us. The beds were NOT heavenly. The rooms were very tiny and had very little amenities. they were clean, but outdated. Valet was same price as reg. parking. Food was great. DO NOT get the romance package. It was not worth the extra 100. We will not stay here again.

What a dump! The lobby is spectacular, but as you exit the elevator, the hallways, and carpets are dirty and musty. The rooms are very dated, dirty, poor furnishings and lighting. Parking lot next door is a nightmare to navigate. Skip this dump and move on!

The staff was welcoming and friendly and the building clean and fresh. A problem with the toilet in room. When mentioned to front desk, the staff apologized and credited my parking charge graciously and unexpectedly. A very nice gesture. I would definitely stay again!

Room was generous in size, nicely appointed, but needs more light. One fixture seemed inoperative, but it was unclear if broken or removed. Front desk staff was uninterested in taking note. Appreciated the room for the price, however, we did get a suite.

In addition to being rude, the front desk staff were rude. The rooms are tiny, and the toiletries were of a low grade. The parking lot - no valet available - is a block away.

The hotel was very nice; the beds were like sleeping on a cloud! And best of all for me-the A/C was phenomenal! It would be nice if it were in a different location. It is almost next door to a deserted mall. Kind of creepy.

The hotel was awesome but the parking situation is typical of many major downtown hotels be prepared to pay an extra $20 per night to park your car.

Overall the hotel was very nice. The staff was very nice and helpful. My only problem with the hotel was that the rooms were very small. It seemed to me that they were 2 star hotel rooms that they tried to turn into a 4 star hotel room with nice furniture and decorations, but I would rather have some space to move around in my room.

While in Columbus on business I stayed at here for 2 nights. The staff was all extremely pleasant and helpful. Everyone from the parking attendants to the cleaning staff should be commended on their hospitality and attention to detail. The lobby and public spaces are beautiful and they keep the character of the building. Linens and bed were comfortable and the room had a flat panel TV with HD. Bathrooms were clean and well decorated. Had I been traveling with anyone else, it would have been an issue, but for a single traveler it worked out fine. If I had any complaints it would be the ridiculous parking rates ($20/day), and the fact that they expect guests to pay for Wi-Fi. When the Best Western down the street is offering free Wi-Fi, why are 4+ star hotels still nickel and dimming those of us that are more apt to be repeat business.
