The Westin Casuarina was a good hotel. The Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Upon checking in to my Ocean View room I was disappointed in the view which was of the Parking lot and the roof of the Casa Havana, no ocean in sight. I immediately complained and was upgraded to an Ocean Front room which had a beautiful view of the pool and Ocean. Pay the extra money and booke the ocean front room. The only problem with the room was in never got cold the AC just didn't seem to be doing its job. The Hotel was clean but lacked certain amenities that most hotels provide for free today such as internet access. They wanted $1 C.I.($1.25) per minute for a very slow internet connection. Also, if you drink Beer and liquor it can be very expensive. It is cheaper to buy your drinks from the liquor store across the street and bring it back to your room. Skip the breakfast at the Hotel. There is a Very good and inexpensive restaurant across the street where you will eat well for half the price at the hotel. Splurge one night and eat at Casa Havana. It is expensive but no more expensive then eating out in New York. The food was phenomenal. Overall I had a good experience and truly enjoyed the beach where you can see sting rays and turtles in the reefs right off the hotel. Just ask the staff were the best place to snorkel is. If you are a swimmer and love the beach this is the place to go.

Exceeded our expectations. Gorgeous hotel and fantastic staff. Not a thing, everything was fabulous. Expect to be enchanted. Received complimentary chocolates, strawberries and champagne when told about the fact that it was my birthday. Fabulous facility, very clean. Didn't meet one person in the hotel who didn't smile at us and was not friendly. Every night, mini rhyme cakes were waiting for us. Perfect location with great cheap restaurant across the street. Heavenly looking resort, in case you forgot it's a resort; you look around and just know you're in heaven. Super safe too, the guards are not there to intimidate the guests like in some hotels, but make sure you feel safe all the time. Pool bar food is really good, with fabulous service from the lovely pool girls and price affordably. And what fun it is to eat in the pool for the kids. Couldn't think of anything else that would have made it better. Perhaps some little friends for my kids since we were the only family there, lots of young couples. We chose to go during fall break but I think most families go in the summer. All was better for us since there were maybe about 20 people on the beach at the most; we had the whole pool side and beach to ourselves. Would go again in a heartbeat.

Location is great. Service at the pool and beach is great. They charge you an extra $20/day for beach towells and beach chairs. Thought that was a little ridiculous since they are already getting $***/night for a standard room. Hotel is beautiful inside and out. The beds are only doubles (not queens) and are in need of new mattresses (very soft). Be sure to bring your lap top computer if you want to get online. They have computers available, but they charge $1.00/minute. Legends Sports Bar across the street has casual food and a good place to watch sports.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Westin 2/4/08-2/9/08 for a romantic week away from NY in winter. The weather in Grand Cayman at this time of year was 84 degrees every day but it also rained every single day for a short while. The rain ranges from light sprinkle to complete downpour, but like, I said, it doesn't last long. The staff at the Westin were always smiling and said hello when we passed them. Our first room smelled so strongly of mold and mildew that it was impossible to sleep in there even after leaving the balcony door open all day to try to air it out so we called the front desk and they gave us a different room but did not upgrade us as is customary at most hotels when there is a problem. It truly was an inconvenience to have to pack up and move all of our belongings, but oh well. The Restaurants are both very good. Casa Havana is excellant but pricey and Ferdinands was also very good and cheaper. I highly recommend the breakfast buffet at Ferdinand's for 15. My boyfriend and I love Ritz Carlton hotels so we couldn't resist walking down the street to check it out and it is beautiful! We decided that if we ever come back we will definitely stay there next time. We ate the their restaurant Blue and I did not like it as much as Casa Havana and the check came to 350US for 2 of us and that's with a 50 bottle of wine! There were very few children at the Westin which I loved!

Overall, we were dissatisfied with the hotel. We had read some great reviews & were really excited about going, but when we got there, we were disappointed. Our first room, which was supposed to be partial ocean view, was somewhat dirty (stuff splattered on the mirrors) and dingy. Our view consisted of looking out onto the hot tub which was surrounded with "caution" tape & a bucket of chlorine. You could see the ocean if you stood on your tiptoes in the corner of the patio door. Our first evening, we were looking forward to sitting out on our patio & watching a storm roll in, however, there was a couple in the hot tub 20 feet away...awkward. The next day the hotel graciously moved us to the second floor which had a much better view of the ocean, but was still not that clean. The decor seemed outdated & the room was in need of some repair (the carpet was separated from the bathroom tile, leaving a gap that hurt if you accidentally stepped on it, our bathroom wall had brown stuff splattered on it, and the towel rack was oxidized.) All little things that could have easily been taken care of & would have made the room a little nicer.

Right on 7 mile beach. Stores and downtown not far away. Very noisy. Had problems getting to sleep. There was construction in the morning so it was hard to sleep in.

The Westin turned out to be a really great place to stay. When we got to our room which was "garden view", we realized that we overlooked the parking lot and main road. I went downstairs and asked if there were any other true "garden rooms" and the woman at the desk was absolutely wonderful and gave a bottom floor room with garden and ocean view! The staff at the Westin could not have been any nicer. The beach seemed to be the nicest on the seven mile stretch and you could snorkel right there! We truly had a wonderful time and look forward to going back one day!

A little expensive, but the whole island is. The location & the services were worth it

Excellent over all resort. Fantastic beach, nice property, upgraded room to ocean front on check in.[...] at the front desk knew me by name and greeted me the entire stay. [...] gave an excellent massage at Hibiscus Spa. One downside is that food and drink are overpriced as you would expect at a hotel property. Nothing surprising here but if you want to budget your travel funds, I would recommend eating off of the property.

We stayed at the Westin for the third week of January. It was a beautiful hotel. The room was great the bed was truly "heavenly" as well as the shower! We go to the Carribean every January for the past ten years and this was the nicest hotel we have stayed in. The hotel recommended PRIME restaurant it is a short walk across the street. The food was amazing, but very pricey. Everything on this island is pricey, more than double any other island we have been to. We visited the butterfly farm, small but neat to see. Also the Dolphin Encounter was fun. The Turtle farm was neat to see had a great gift shop. Be careful not to go when the cruise ships are in its very crowded. George town was a short ride into town everything closes around 5pm for the day. The first trip in was a waste because everything was closed except for restaurants. Overall it was a great vacation but very expensive.

When booking my room, I booked an oceanview room and received an island view room and the staff would not change it even though they had room available. Other than that it is a great place to stay on the island.

We decided about 2 weeks earlier to fly to Grand Cayman and stay at the Westin. It wasn't the cheapest or most expensive hotel on 7-mile beach but a great value! The location can't be beat - you step off the elevator, walk by the pool, and the glorious clear blue water laps at your toes. Beautiful!!! Since we went in off season, the hotel had an occupancy rate of 11% the bartender told us so we had the place to ourselves. Normally this would have bothered us since we prefer a lively atmosphere but it was perfect for a romantic trip. At night we would walk down the beach to other hotels/restaurants for food/nightlife and then return to our quiet haven at the end of the night by moonlight - that is something you cannot do at home. We had a 5th floor (top) oceanfront balcony room and that was key!!! In the morning, you would open the curtains and door and remind yourself that you were really in this paradise. The view of the water (over the Casuarina trees) was amazing!! And we enjoyed our drinks on our little balcony as we watched the sunset (7-mile beach is on the west side of the island). INCREDIBLE!!! Though not the best and most glamorous of 7-mile beach hotels, it certainly met our expectations and we would stay there again.

we saw rum point ,Hell and the whole island. ALso went on the pirates dinner cruise .WE had a blast.WE missed the bus one night because the place that we ate was full. The owners of the restaurant drove all 7 of us in their car. I though that was so nice of them.Actually allthe people of our hotel and of the island are very friendly and helpful about directions and things to do on the island.

Older property than we thought with a slight aroma from the moisture and older carpets, but only in certain areas (elevators and along one corridor of the hotel) Other than that, the experience was terrific! Westin has a very intimate and relaxed atmosphere with the staff being very friendly and willing to share their island-life experience! The large lounge and pool area is well-kept with amazing views and the beach access is the best along 7-Mile Beach - very easy access - and far more organized than the Ritz (the Ritz have their chairs all over so there's barely any beach area and the umpbrellas are in the way of the view!!) Westin's restaurants can take care of all your dining needs if you truly want to be in one place! Casa Havana offers a peaceful fine dining experience with tantalizing dishes and phenominal service with very reasonable prices as well! Ferdinand's Buffet is definitely worth the $15 Caymanian when you're ready to eat a lot! And the Cafe has the best Caramel Machiato that's as close as you can get to a Starbucks Mocha - you won't be disappointed! The Westin is very close to bars and the nightlife - we went Salsa dancing at Senior Frogs and The Wharf - but were disappointed with the food at The Wharf. The Lounge at the Ritz was packed and entertaining

In our opinion, the Westin was the best facility to stay at on 7 mile beach compared to (1) Ritz which has their guests stay across the busy street from the beach (2) Hyatt was under construction. Didn't see the Marriott but the Westin was definitely a fresh, clean facility that one could feel good about coming back to or just staying out in the beach. There was many choices to eat (in the hotel) or across the street at "Eats" (good value) or one of their sister restaurants (like Yoshi or the Lounge). Wesitn was also great for exchange - no fee and 0.80 Cayman for 1 USD vs. other locations at lesss for the buck. When the season was not too busy (August) they upgraded us to an Ocean view which was nice in the morning when you opened the curtains or soothing as the sun set... the staff was also helpful in directing us to sights, activities and how to get around the island (yes, we even tried the bus system). We'd definitely come back; we definitely had an environment that we could unwind in and get re-energized!!

We took this trip to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Our reservation was for an island view room but when we arrived we asked if we could possibly receive a free upgrade. We were told that there weren't any available ocean view rooms on that date but to check back. When we approached the front desk the next afternoon, we were greeted by the use of our name which still astounds me. We were given a free upgrade and I thanked the desk clerk for giving us such a wonderful room for our anniversary present. The day we moved into our new room, (our anniversary) we had a complimentary bottle of wine and chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us! Amazing service! The service was like that all week long.
