I was in New York for the Boilermaker 15K race in Utica. I also enjoy the gaming experience so the casino connected to the hotel was great for me.

Internet access is a problem.

The rooms were very clean and quiet. They had a restaurant on the premises and there were other restaurants in the area that were very good. There is a casino on the premises which has video machines only. We would have preferred a few gaming tables. The Turning Stone Casino is a short distance away and does have gaming tables. We were busy seeing family and did not have time to take in the pool and fitness rooms. We would definitely stay there again.

Location, reasonable, clean and very kind staff. Wish check-in time could have been earlier. My husband and I were very happy with this hotel. It was a very nice room, the bed was very comfortable. The staff that we encountered was very nice and helpful. The price was very reasonable and the location was great for what we had planned. We would definitely stay there again. The only thing that we would change is the check-in time, 3:00 pm is a little later than we like. Over all a very positive experience!

We were pleasantly surprised by the cost of the stay and all that Vernon downs had to offer. We had a wonderful time and would recommend staying and playing at Vernon Downs Hotel and Casino.

Good rates for the room and having the amenities was nice. Ate the restaurant Luckys it was horrible waited over a 1hr & 1/2 for our food, and after all that time the food was gross. Ice machine was broke. The hotel itself was fine the kids had an indoor pool to swim in. The rooms were fine I only sleep there so I don't need anything fancy. But the food at the restaurant was horrible, we waited over an hour and a half for our food, and it was gross and my pasta was burned. The waiter never kept his order pad with him, so a lot of running back and forth to get it. Clearly they need to hire more staff because the waiter had to tell us that he was the waiter, the cook, and bartender until 6 pm that night. And we had a peek at the breakfast buffet, not worth 7.99 so we went to a better restaurant somewhere else. I do not recommend this to restaurant to any one. The buffets didn't look any better.

They have an inside walkway from the hotel directly to the casino. Staff was very friendly.

Great indoor pool. Good restaurant that has family friendly prices with theme night buffets. Also has gambling and a friendly bar .

When we arrived we put our things away & went right down to the pool. When we came back we turned the air conditioner on as it was quite stuffy in the room. It smelled a little bit when we first turned it on but we thought it was because it probably hadn't been turned on in a while. Went to dinner & did a little gambling in the casino. When we came back to our room around 10:00pm the room smelled like something was burning. My husband turned off the air condtioning for a little while thinking that was the smell. When he turned it back on it made a terrible noise, went out & filled the room with the same terrible odor. We called to the front desk, the maintenance man came up & said it was broken. He called down to the front desk to tell them & they asked him if he could fix it but he said he was going home & wouldn't fix it until the next day. So we had to repack all our stuff up & move to another room. Now this was around 11:00 pm. It was very inconvienent. When we checked out the next day we told the receptionist about it & she said they hadn't gotten around to check all the air conditioners yet. Bad excuse. Other than that our stay was good. It was a special occasion for us, it was our 25th wedding anniversary so I wish things would have gone a little bit better.

I like the casino end of it, attached right to the hotel. The smell of the new carpet, although it is a good upgrade! The atmosphere is very friendly, they welcome you like old friends, it is a nice place to relax and enjoy the scenery. Good stopping point between Utica and Syracuse, NY.

We love to gamble and this hotel really accomodated that. It s right next to Turning Stone Casino and it is connected to a casino and race track. Two thumbs up!!

Had lots to do and eat and not have to leave to do it. Casino closed at 2:00p.m. And opened at 10:00 a.m. I think it was rated 3 stars and it should be more. It was close to Turning Stone Casino 5 miles away were we went to a concert and shopping. You could swim use hot tub, eat, gamble, drink, horse races were off season but they were training and simulcast was on. You can watch movies put beer in fridge and drink in room all while they was a snow storm going on and we don't have to leave the building. A lot more reasonable than staying at other casino. And the complimentary breakfast was excellent not like in Canada.

The hotel at Vernon Downs was AMAZING. I had never been in the area before and they were extremely helpful with directions and stuff and the hotel was just wanderful. Great staff and the room was to good to be true for the price. I've traveled quite a bit and I know I've paid double that price for a dump - this place was beautiful. I would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to the area.

N\a. NA. This hotel was by far not accommodating. The casino in the hotel was shut down for legal purposes I guess, and due to this inconvenience for us they would not budge on the room price. However, I did hear the hotel desk clerk quoting lower prices to people on the phone due to this inconvenience. The lobby was dark and uninviting as well.

Friendly staff. The food wasn't very good (breakfast). The hotel was ok... The rooms were clean and efficient.

Room was clean, complimentary coffee was good. The restaurant food was inedible, wait staff was inexperienced. Hotel satisfied our need in terms of location, but it was far from a three star hotel, restaurant was beyond terrible, in fact, I ordered breakfast, and when meal arrived I left money on the table and walked out, it was vile looking and smelling. Desk staff was helpful and courteous. All in all, glad it was only overnight.

Location to our concert. Under construction - only 10 rooms open. Wish we knew the place was under construction - looked like a war zone with a skeleton crew only - not worth the price at this time.

Great value for money. Its kind of isolated. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this hotel given price and location. The rooms were very large and clean (2 double beds and pullout couch) and the staff was wonderful. I would highly recommend this hotel for people visiting the Vernon, Clinton, Hamilton College area.
