Very good but could do betterWe were very impressed with the room decor and the size of the suite (we had bedroom plus living room). The Voya toiletries were fab, and we really enjoyed our meal in the West restaurant (which catered very well for our 2 young children). And the flashing coloured lights in the bathroom were great! Oh, and breakfast fantastic quality too.All the foundations are there for an excellent hotel, but there were a few really simple things that weren't quite right: - There was a mix up with our room and we were given a standard bedroom when we had paid for a suite. This was put right but first impressions weren't great. - The toilet in the bathroom had not been cleaned since last being used - not flushed and urine on the seat. - We had to ask for a new kettle as black bits kept coming out of it. - The curtains weren't big enough to shut properly, so we couldn't get the room dark enough to get the kids to sleep. - We (and more importantly our kids) were woken at 6am by the alarm clock (I would have thought one of the things the cleaner should do is check the alarm has been reset??)

Little gem in BearnaIt wasn't until after we had made this booking that we realised the hotel was about 5 miles outside of Galway but actually this suited us perfectly. From the outside the hotel doesn't look anything like the quality that you get when you enter. Boutique hotels are all the rage now and this is arguably the nicest we have stayed in to date. After parking in the secure underground car park we buzzed the lift and immediately got our first pleasant surprise of our stay, the lift walls are leather padded! Sounds a bit S&M but it wasn't, it was tastefully done. Check in was all straight forward and we then made our way to the room. Another nice touch is that you have to enter a door from the main corridors into a 'waiting area' and then go into your room i.e. the door to your room doesn't open out onto the main corridor. The key cards are wireless so you just wave it near the door and it opens. The rooms are more than big enough and very tastefully decorated. The bathroom was uber modern and multicoloured lights added an extra special touch.Facilities were spot on, robes and slippers, HD TV and an actual proper coffee machine complete with real ground coffee! On returning from our sight seeing we found a plate of chocolate coated strawberries and flapjack on our desk together with a hand written personalised note from reception welcoming us to the hotel. There is a swanly bar that does food and an even swankier restaurant both very reasonably priced but we chose to eat over the road in Donnellys pub (had too many hotel dinners!).Breakfast the next morning was a huge Irish breakfast and a very respectable 12 euros each(ours was included in the room price). We had come from the Clarence in Dublin where breakfast was 26 euros each! All in all a beautiful hotel in a beautiful part of the world. Highly recommended

I was very impressed with the quality of service at The Twelve. My husband and I stayed just one night in August as our son was visiting the Gaeltacht. Rooms were modern, bed nice and comfy, bathroom stylish. We had lunch on Sunday, which was lovely and breakfast on the Bank Holiday Monday was huge and cooked to order with a self service style buffet with cereals and gorgeous pastries from the bakery next door. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The bar on the Sunday night was packed and buzzing with all ages and had a small jazz band. I would definitely stay here again as the area is lovely. Marion from Dublin.

The rooms were spacious and well equipped with huge comfortable beds. However, the room lighting was subdued and this made reading difficult. Bar meals were excellent and reasonable value for money. On the other hand, breakfasts were disappointing. All of the items were pre-cooked and kept warm in trays. This meant that the food was warm rather than hot and for me it was far too early to have several food items heavily cooked in garlic. Compared with top class hotel breakfasts in similar places, the quality of breakfast was disappointing. The staff of many nationalities was friendly and obliging. Overall,

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Twelve. The decor of the rooms and whole hotel was fantastic, the beds were the comfiest we've ever slept in, the food was delicious and we really didn't want to leave. The only negative was that as a couple, we really wanted to relax with a glass of wine in the bar but there were children everywhere and while that's great for families, it would have been nice to have had at least a child free area. Even so, we can't wait to go back and are trying to round up a group of friends for our next visit! Fantastic location (stumbling distance!) for O'Grady's on the Pier aswell (the best Seafood restaurant in Ireland 2008).

My husband and I agreed that we would happily return to this hotel. The hotel itself is stylish in a casual manner but I was a little disappointed with the West restaurant. I felt it lacked atmosphere and the staff were very friendly but somewhat amateurish. On checking in although we booked a suite we were shown to a double room. I asked if we could change which was not a problem. When we were changed to a suite nearby I have to say I was a little disappointed and felt the first room was every bit as nice. The only other down side was the following morning our breakfast was lukewarm. This is a pet hate of mine, I think cooked food should be served piping hot on hot plates. I did not complain even though I know I should have. However this would not deter me from returning to the hotel on another occasion and I would recommend it to my friends.

The room was very smart, but with inadequate lighting. The atmosphere in the bar with live music on both Thu and Fri nights I stayed was great.

Found the bathroom a little on the small side i.e. Bathroom door opens straight back onto washhand basin and anyone standing at washhand basin was getting hit by the bathroom door.Found the kitchen and living area lighting a little too dim.The perculated and instant coffee sachets in the room were not good. The bathroom toiletry products were excellent and a very good idea and am very interested in purchasing these products and have since emailed the company to purchase same. But would like to say... that the hotel was excellent and the staff very friendly... and will definately go back again... Well done.

We loved this hotel! The food was delicious, the staff was exceedingly friendly, and the atmosphere was quite luxurious. We will definitely return next time we are in Ireland. We only wish there were more of these hotels everywhere else!
