A real 'home away from home!'Wasn't really too sure what to expect as this was the first 'serviced apartment' I'd stayed in. Checking in was weird as it's more like an Office than a Reception Desk but the Team were polite and friendly. The Apartment was spacious and we were lucky enough to be on the top floor complete with balcony (which I'd request again). The lounge/kitchen is really well equipped and you could easily fix a decent dinner if you fancy cooking, there's even a dishwasher to help with the cleaning up! The bathroom is functional although the water pressure is pretty low so you can brush your teeth or run a bath, but not at the same time! The sleep experience was OK, mattress comfortable but would be better with a quilt and pillows upgrade! Overall, for the price, excellent location and quirky factor, I'd recommend The Spires.

While The Spires is a serviced apartment facility and not a hotel as such, The services rendered were more than adequate. Just across street from the Mailbox, with many upscale shops, grocery, 15-20 restaurants, with more pubs and restaurants along the canal. Eight minute walk from Center City and New Street train station. We were attending a convention at NEC, which could be reached in less than 10 mminutes by train. Apartment was well appointed and spacious(we entertained 20+ friends one eventing confortably). Resident manager Claire was great and willingly helped us in many ways. All requests of housekeeping housekeeing were responded to quickly and efficiently. We highly recommend The Spires!

Modern, clean, spacious.Tesco just around the corner plus many restaurants. Can park on street, free after 6pm. Better value & standard than most hotels.

Would recommend The SpiresThe Spires is a great location opp The Mailbox pleanty of resturants and a Mini Tessco for provisions however if you were travelling with a small child the sliding patio door in the bed room and living area could possibly be a hazzard. The apt was very well furnished, equiped, and spotless. I would most definately stay there again and I have being recommending it to some of my colleagues.

I got a good weekend deal with laterooms. Lovely accommodation in a great location. The only annoying thing was it looked like it needed a good dust and there was several maintance issues. Apart from that would stay there again.

The check in was easy and the kind reception stayed behind an extra 10 mins as we arrived dead on 7pm.Breakfast was already in the kitchen/fridge and was a little light but you have everything you need to cook for yourself. There's a Tesco express near by which is perfect. What I found helpful was that there was a book that had a list of restaurants and local deleivery and takeways which is perfect!Great service and I would def stay there again

Clean anid modern. Nice to have more space than a hotel, but missed having a bar. So close to the Mailbox for bars and retaurants though. Found a little noisy, street noise, corridor and neighbouring apartment. Very difficult to use the keypad when getting back out of reception hours especially after a few drinks in the dark.

I booked the Spires for a saturday night and it was for a romantic evening in. We had an amazing time and the place was just perfect. I would definately stay here again. The only problem was parking but they make no false promises about that.

Excellent short or long stay venue. Good access and helpful service. Breakfast available if required but Tesco Express is just around the corner as are at least 10 bars/restuarants. Quiet location unless you have noisy neighbouring guests as I did on this visit but bedroom still managed to shut out noise.

A little difficult to find the hotel at night, but a very convenient location right behind the Mailbox Mall. Very nice and friendly office staff. Clean and quiet rooms. Love the fact that they are large suite rooms. Ask for the breakfast to be left in your room for the next day. A big help when in a rush...

The staff weren't the friendliest. Made me feel stupid when I couldn't find the apartments. The apartment was clean but small. We had to keep the bedroom curtains closed, as there were offices overlooking us and there were no net curtians to prevent people seeing in (we stayed in the week. Doubt this would be a problem at the weekend). The drainage in the bath and sink was very slow, so it was annoying when cleaning your teeth or washing your face as the sink could overflow. Apart from that, great location - right next to Mailbox and walking distance to main shops and other bars at Arcadian or Brindley Place.

The Spire is not a hotel, but a place where you can stay for self-catering, preferably for a week or longer. I was expecting a hotel, and was therefore dissapointed that this place wasn't run like a hotel. I was unlucky, by having a not working telephone line and when I was upgraded the suite lacked towels and pillow cases. There wasn't anyone at the reception in the evening, but there was an emergency number to be called. The staff was very friendly though!

Found the full glass front with no veils a little open, and was a little disappointed that there was only a network connection downstairs, but mostly good.

I stayed at the Spires on Saturday 7th June. I was accompanied by my girlfriend and a friend with his wife. I have to say I was very very disappointed with my stay. Here are some of the things I would like to point out:- 1. The description online and the email I received said one room would have en-suite. None of the 2 bedrooms had en-suite, which you can appreciate caused problems with couples. 2. Only one room had a wardrobe.3. The main light in one of the bedrooms did not work.4. 2 lights in the kitchen did not work.5. The shaving light in the only bathroom did not work.6. The alarm sensor kept beeping all night.7. The rooms were very very dusty which kept my friend and his wife up all night sneezing and suffered the whole day because of it.

I would NOT recommend this hotel at all. When I arrived at the hotel we were given a 2 bedroom apartment but with no on suite, after working for a while in the apartment I could hear a banging noise and realised that it was the main door downstairs. When I reported this they moved us to a 2 bedroom apartment with on suite. This was what we had booked anyway, however the problems started again as it was on the 4th floor and the lift was out of order then walking into the apartment I noticed some used sachets of coffee and sugar on the side. (a little annoying but the rest of the apartment seemed clean) When getting ready to go out both me and my colleague had to have cold showers as there was no hot water (it said about pressing a boost button in a manual which helped my colleague in the morning but my shower was still cold). After a meal in a Thai restaurant just off the Mailbox (which was fantastic) we returned to go to bed. Both my colleague and I could hear a very annoying humming sound all night (which I now believe to be the air-conditioning unit on the roof)When reporting this in the morning they didnt seem to care much and offered no discount.I also couldnt believe that this apartment only has 1 allocated parking space which was taken, I parked in the Mailbox carpark which was £18.

A huge apartment with 2 bedrooms and 3 TVs (though none of them seemed to be able to be tuned in). Rather sterile setting and lots of instructiosn and directions to find the room but definitely a good place to stay if you're tired of pokey hotel rooms.

This is a great set of apartments, sat nav finds them! They are ideally located near the Mailbox which has a Tesco Express as well as a number of bars and restaurant, good quality shops and parking. If you're staying a while, the Mailbox car park althought pricey, is the best. Otherwise you have to move your car on the surrounding streets every 4 hours! The apartments themselves are clean with good facilities, everything you could need apart from a tea towel and foil! The breakfast is good, you get museli, a croissant, muffin and jams/butter as well as orange juice.

Brilliant brand new apartment. All the facilities I could have expected. Very clean, very handy for everything. Only worry was parking - needs to be booked in advance, but you can park on the street outside if you get up before 8am.

I stay in Birmingham at least once a month and have stayed in most of the hotels in the City Centre. The Spires Suites was the best experience so far, it is ideally positioned next to the Mailbox and easy walking distance from New Street. It was really great to have all the facilities of home whilst beng away on business. Highly recommended and worth the money.
