The bed sheets are 100% comfort. And the design of the rooms are very chic with a bit of tradition. They have bits of history on the walls, so it's interesting to read while on your way to your room. The valet guys were really friendly and extremely useful, especially for directions to the nearby stadiums and theaters. It's located in the city, ,so there are things that some people might not be comfortable with.

Location was very convenient. Room was very small. Nice older Hotel (built in 1926), rooms are small with showers only so bathrooms are very small too. Staff was friendly and helpful.To make up for room size the rooms are fairly well furnished. Modern interior with a lot crammed into a small space.

Perfect for anyone wishing to stay downtown. Surrounded by plenty of restaurants, bars and shops. Ideal for anyone going on a cruise as it's very near to cruise terminal and airport is also close by. Rooms were a bit small but very cosy. Definitely would stay there on my next visit which hopefully is sooner rather than later.

The hotel has a wonderful staff, lounge, restaurant, and is within walking distance of the Gas Lamp district and Horton Plaza. The cab ride from the airport was $10. The restaurant is expensive but excellent, and there are many other options available nearby. The closet space is a little small.

The front desk staff was great. Even though I came earlier than check-in time, around noon, they were able to find an available room for us. They also gave us a map and some tips about the general downtown area. I loved this hotel because it is clean, relaxing, and in the perfect location to explore San Diego and use public transportation. The only downside is a slight design flaw in the bathroom, because water splashes out to the bathroom floor whenever you use the shower. But it's tolerable because there is daily maid service. They have a mini-fridge and a microwave, ethernet cable in the room, and very simple designs. The hotel is within walking distance of the harbor and Gaslamp district, local San Diego spas, and right next to many bus lines and light rail lines that can take you to the San Diego Zoo, Pacific Beach, Old Town, and more! It is nice to be near the night life, but not on a street directly part of the night life, since you want peace and quiet too. The view of our room wasn't too great, so next time, maybe we can get a corner room in the front. But it's okay, we don't spend too much time in the room anyways. The room is pretty compact, but it's perfect for 2 people. This is downtown, in a historical, renovated building, don't expect too much in size, and you'll be happy!

This wonderful hotel is quite amazing. The staff was great especially the front desk clerk ([...]). The rooms were very clean and elegant. The down side is that the rooms are very small. With 2 kids it was a little cramped. I would love to visit here again, but probably without the kids.

Super clean, modern and friendly staff. No public parking around the area, which meant having to pay $28 dollars per night for hotel valet. Everything that you need is walking distance. The Greyhound is half a block away, the trolley stop is one block away, if you don¿t mind a little walking, definitely recommend not driving there, because it's expensive to have to valet park everywhere you go, oh and get a suite if you are going with family.

I loved this hotel and it was perfect for an overnight transition stay. Loved the staff's advice to take the airport bus. Super cheap and very very easy. Room might have been small for 2 people, but was perfect for one person. I always wear ear plugs in hotels, so noticed zero noise from greyhound bus station next door. Easy walking distance to good restaurants. Very pretty hotel.

This hotel is beautifully decorated, clean, and just blocks from the Gaslamp district which has many restaurants, shops, etc. The staff is extrememly helpful and the posh hotel restaurant (Currant) serves good food and drink. The standard rooms are very nice but they are also very small. We upgraded to a studio suite after the first night and it made a world of difference for us. Please be advised you will hear routine sirens and bus activities with the hotel being in the downtown area. We were overall very pleased with the hotel and the entire San Diego experience! Oh, the yoga room and gym with weights and treadmills came in handy too!

We loved everything. Amazing central downtown location, walking distance to practically everything. Room was beautiful and very nicely decorated. We were lucky enough to get a Broadway corner room with a view towards the harbor which was wonderful. The digital HVAC system was easy to use and set to maintain a comfortable temperature, which is much better than the ones that are just ON the whole time and you have to guess at the temperature. I was really happy with that! The staff was excellent and very helpful. We were very pleased with our stay. Walking distance to Amtrak/trolley/buses made for a great 'car-free' trip thanks to San Diego's excellent public transportation system. Can't beat the location!

The staff was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The room was a bit smaller than expected but very nice and clean. It's evident that the Sofia Hotel is making a considerable effort to 'Go Green'. The walls were a bit thin and leaked noise into the room.

The Sofia has lovely staff! I have never had a nicer cleaner room. They are small but quant. The gym is amazing and a definate plus. We walked to the gaslamp, horton plaza and the pier from the hotel it is in a great location.

This was a wonderful hotel to stay at. The room was small but functional. I booked the two double beds, there were 2 of us. We each had quite a bit with us, as we were in San Diego for 6 days total and we did not have space issues. The shower was not a problem at all, water did get on the floor, but was not a big deal, there is a bath mat. The staff at The Sofia was great from the time we checked in. I did get a chance to eat at The Currant for breakfast and this was fabulous. Location was perfect for us as we walked or used public transportation. I would stay at here again and will be recommending it to everyone I know.

Perfect location, right on Broadway which leads to the Gas Lamp, Seaport Village, Little Italy, and freeways. My husband and I went for four nights to celebrate his birthday. Upon request, chilled champagne was waiting in our room. The room was on the smaller side, but very comfortable and very clean!! We loved the Currant downstairs, great service and food!! The staff was really friendly and even offered to call another hotel to see if we could use their pool, since there is not one at the Sofia. We had a great time and would love to stay in this place again!!

We just came back from California and had a great time. We are just blocks from the bay, the gaslamp quarter, and every major public transportation hub. The rooms were small but i had no intention of spending the whole day in it. We had a great view of the city streets and the decor was great. It is an updated historic building with all the upgrades. -Things to watch for are the bathroom stall which might be bothersome to others but didn't irk me one bit. -Bring a laptop since there are only three computer stations and people like to hog it for hours. They have wi-fi in the lobby. -The hotel has its own parking but at 28 dollars a night. I don't think I could ever spend another stay at some chain hotel ever again. The concierge service was very helpful in giving out suggestions on where to eat.

All the rooms have recently been renovated and they were very comfortable. Upon check-in we were asked if we wanted to upgrade to a suite for a minimal fee. We went to both rooms and there was no contest the suites were amazing. When you check in you should ask for an upgrade, they gave the price to us based on our length of stay and the hotel availability. The only down side to the experience was that there was no hint of being environmentally friendly. Our towels were replaced each time. In todays day of "waste" it is unfortunate that they were not set up for this. The location of this hotel is perfect! It is walking distance to trains, harbor, gas lamp and yet far enough away that it isn't really loud at night. If you are renting a car the hotel will have someone pick you up in the morning and take you to a rental place. We just rented the car for the day each time and didn't have to pay the valet parking. It worked out great. Overall a great stay

This is a small boutique hotel. i had a very nice stay there. the people at the front desk were very nice and helpful. my room was lovely with fresh crisply-starched sheets and lots of light. also very clean. i would definitely stay there again.

All in all our stay at the Sofia was GREAT!! Yes, the room is small. We knew this going in and it really wasn't a problem. Like someone else said, spend your time out in SD, not in the room. The bathroom was obviously also small, with the main "issue" being the non-shower curtain/door. But it wasn't a big deal. I felt worse for the cleaning lady. If she doesn't mind wiping up the water, why should you? Just put a towel down; problem solved. Fantastic location!! My girlfriend and I walked everywhere as we were so centrally located. Blocks to the bay, Gas Lamp, Horton Plaza Mall, and Coronado Ferry Landing- it was awesome! Busses and taxis run right outside the front door. Buesses easy to use and the transit center office is next door. Our room did face the back which was under Greyhound, however, they weren't a problem at all. My girlfriend is a light sleeper and she had no issues with the busses. Staff was very friendly. Save your and use the business center for internet. It's available 24/7. FYI: Lots of homeless roaming around DT SD. Mostly harmless, but just a head's up. You will be asked for some .

it was nice.... small room but we didnt spend much time in it so it didnt really matter. super close to gaslamp district where there are lots of good restaurants and good shopping. the staff was nice.
