from the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home. The room was very clean.Every member of staff from the owner Karen to the chamber maid were friendly and polite. We will be going back as soon as poss.Thanks for the very warm welcome.

Eastbourne is wonderful! And so is the Sherwood.Managed to haul a very heavy suitcase [actually rolled a suitcase] down from the railway station in about 10 minutes. So very easy to get to. Small single room but very well laid out, everything was there in its place, and lots of little special touches. Breakfast was a real treat. And the staff were very, very helpful, pleasant and caring. Would love to stay again.

Take care filling in the parking permitWelcoming and friendly service convenient for town centre activities and for walkers it's close to the South Downs that you can walk straight out onto. Although the hotel doesn't have a car park, you are supplied with parking permits for the days you stay, although I learned the hard way how to fill them in and did get a parking ticket because I forgot to fill in the car number plate section!

Quirky and CharmingIt was a lovely place to stay - we had the family room which is the big 1st floor room which has been partioned off to provide a small bunkbedded room (still big enough to include a tall window, 2 wardrobes & a tv though) leaving the grown ups with the main part of the room (with the lovely bay window to balcony) and a little ensuite. The furniture was all twiddly bits and faux Louis the Somethingth - definitely not corporate samey-ness. It felt very roomy - esp with the high ceilings. If I had a complaint about the room it would be the double bed was a bit on the small side - or maybe we're just too fat / used to a kingsize now! Proper size mugs and decent teabags - this made a change. Also the mini chocloate eggs were a thoughtful touch. I was also pleasantly surprised that there were flannels and comp toiletries (as well as towels obviously) - didn't use them but they were there. My children wished we were staying longer than overnight so they could have made more use of the board games in the lounge. The breakfast in the morning was a treat, buffet style for fruit/cereal and juice then a choice for cooked breakfast (inc kippers if you were so inclined!!) Bit tricky for parking (on street - and get a voucher from hotel) - we were lucky - but I'd imagine it could be different at the height of season. There isn't a lift - and the dining room is downstairs so no good if you can't do stairs - also if you have lots of bags and you're on one of the upper floors you may need to do it in shifts!!! About a minute's walk to the prom/beach and the same from the Winter Gardens and Devonshire Park. All round friendly and value for money.

Excellent serviceThe Sherwood is just off the seafront and therefore the hotel parking voucher is a big help. The service and vibe was friendly - I was up a few flights of stairs which was fine for me - and the room was very comfortable with nice extras such as a range of tv channels and wi fi. Breakfast was chilled out and very tasty. I would use it again - perhaps not for a long holiday but for sure for a short break.

Rooms were lovely. You very much felt at home staying here. Just a shame about so many stairs to climb. There were 40 leading up to my room (No lift) is not suitable for the disabled as there are steep steps leading to front door also. Nicely situated for easy access to Eastbourne town centre and seafront.

Great location; well-maintained hotel. My room had the fresh-paint-aroma from an obviously very recent - and tasteful - refurbishment. Wall-mounted LCD television was a nice touch. En-suite was a fair size, well laid-out and, most importantly, clean. The only negative for me was the lack of advertised Wi-Fi due to a faulty router. This was fixed, but not until the morning of my departure a full 6 days later. A small niggle, though, with an otherwise thoroughly pleasant stay.
