We are repeat customers to the Sandman Inn and know how things are supposed to go. This time we hit some bumps in the road. Ready to eat; our taste-buds were all ready. The microwave didn't work and we wasted good food. There was an awful stench coming up from the bathroom sink. I called the front-desk immediately and was told that they would swap-out the microwave and pour bleach down the drain to get rid of the raw-sewage smell. We were very unhappy about this decision. I called back the front-desk to see if we could have another room. The response I received was off-putting. My nose is NOT to blame! I'm NOT being too overly sensitive! The Inn is full so there is nothing to do but swap & pour. Unable to even take a shower; I continued to plead my case. A few minutes later, we were granted a new room. Great - right? My sister went to hang up a towel in our new room and the rack fell off the wall and hit her on the foot. The caretaker who originally came to pour bleach down our sink, returned with new hardware. The next morning, my sister shrieked loudly because there was a spider crawling out of her bed-sheets. The bugs are everywhere. We enjoyed the rest of our stay. The pool & jacuzzi were excellent vacation therapy as was the healthy continental breakfast! We will most likely return to the Sandman Inn the next time we are in beautful Santa Barbara!

the rooms were clean, a trifle worn but nothing terrible, the staff were helpful. The pools were very nice, there was access to a gym about 1 block away. easy wireless access and the hotel is conviently located. the grounds were being upgraded and were very nice. My one negative was breakfast, the muffins and bagels were dry and could have been more fresh.

I stayed at the Sandman with my kids and we all loved it! The room was big and the pool was awesome :) Very reasonable price....loved it!

Mom and dad stayed there before, and loved it. We stayed and found it to be.......fun. It's a dated motel, but, everything was great. Rooms are clean, the grounds are beautiful w/ tree's and flowers. Next time we'll bring our daughter. The two pools are awsome, so's the hot tub! I'll stay there again, for sure!

No frills, but clean, includes breakfast. A great value as Santa Barbara accomodations are very pricey.

Rooms were very clean. Furniture had some small tears that showed age, but it had every amenity you could ask for: comfy bed, pool, free breakfast, flat screen TV, free DVD rentals at the front desk or bring your own, just a few minutes away from downtown by car.

Really surprised that such a low cost hotel/inn (for Santa Barbara) would be so nice. Nice beds/pillow, LCD TV + DVD player in room, hair dryer, fridge/microwave, free internet. Breakfast had lots of options and very kid friendly food. Inn's building/decor/carpet is old, but they make up for their age with service and other extras. I'd definitely stay there again, especially if I was with my family. Great "bargain" type of place to stay in Santa Barbara.

There on business, used motel only for after dinner work and sleeping. Did not use pool or spa but appeared clean, well kept. I was disappointed because wireless internet as advertised was spotty at best, very hard time getting any work completed! A plus was quiet, convenient to stores, restaurants and really anywhere in Santa Barbara.

The hotel is a nice; located in a quiet place on the State Street. It is a large hotel. Location wise - it is far if you want to walk to downtown Santa Barbara. It is about 5-6 miles away from the waterfront. There are a few dining places next to the hotel however not too many. The staff at the hotel was very friendly. The room was clean: flat screen TV and DVD player available. Coffee machine, little fridge, and a microwave was there along with the hairdryer. A continental breakfast was a plus! A great place to stay I think. One hour away from Solvang and Los Olivos!

This place is great for families, they have two pools, a jacuzzi, free breakfast, a microwave and refrigerator in the room! They dont allow you early check in not even half hour before so be prepared for that. Bring your own towels, they give you those tiny, scratchy towels but at this price who cares. There is a sports bar next door along with some fast food places on the same street. The freeway is close by. Ive stayed at different places in SB but this was one of the best.

The room was small, needed A LOT of work, and I'm glad I was only there 2 nights

Very comfortable hotel. Older property, but well kept with very nice landscaping and many conveniences. Refrigerator and microwave in room. Free breakfast. DVD player in room and large DVD library at front desk. Free wi-fi in room. Free YMCA passes.

it was the best stay we had on the trip

The photography done on the website is deceiving. While the place was clean and neat, and it definiely served the purpose of a quick stay before leaving for the airport, I thought the rooms would be nicer. No decorations, no draperies, and broken venetian blinds were disappointing.

The room is older but kept clean. If there are people or cars doors shutting you may hear that. It was quiet during the day and night. I guess it depends on the types of guests that visit. We kept our air running all night and we didn't hear any noise. Room is older style but clean. Having a refrigerator and microwave ia a PLUS to this place. Showehead was old and it was hard to control water temp. Overall I had a great experience!

We were there for a wedding. OUr fist time staying in Santa Barbara. I wouldn't stay here for the unmenidies, but it's location is very good

The staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The room had a nice flat screen t.v. with a dvd player, and free movie rentals at the front desk. The inn is located in a safe area, and it was just about a 5 min drive to downtown SB. Great for the price.....we are definitely staying there again.

The hotel is older but very well kept. Rooms have a dated appearance but have all you want and need and are very clean. Facility is spread out over a large lot.
