Very fine bedding, and charming little bathroom, functional and clean. Fine TV +DVD + radio player in the room. However, the street noise (cable cars) is very audible, and the walls with neighbors rather thin too. Il Fornaio , the restaurant, is on the ground level and was very practical for a single woman traveler like me: chic, decent food, good service. Valet parking is the big drawback of the Sainte Claire, though: it is impossible to park yourself in this busy neighborhood (the Convention Center is across the street) so they got you trapped: 21 dollars overnight for valet, and hardly any space on that corner to park your car to wait for the valet to come and pick it up.

I am from sa jose and i wanted to get away with my girlfreind without going to far or paying to much. This hotel was a great location and it was very nice. The lobby is very nice and the rooms are even better. The bathrooms are delicate but nice and the beds are very very comfortable. We had a problem with our dvd player and a guy was sent to fix the isssue and he would not leave until the issue was resolved. i was there only for a night but my experience was great and i plan to go back soon.

The bed was super soft and the pillows very fluffy! A little hard to figure out where to park. Valet was the only choice and had to drive around the block a few times to figure it out. This historic hotel was re-furbished beautifully. It is so much more enjoyable to stay at a one of a kind hotel rather than the same old hotel chains I've been doing. There were many nice touches to the room. The bathroom ceiling was had a recessed square ceiling that was hand painted with a scene of a sky and birds. The sink was a wood veneer and lovely. The bed and bedding was soft and comfortable.

When I arrived at the hotel they didnt have any rooms available so I couldnt check in right away, the staff went out of their way to make sure I didnt have to wait too long - The room was immaculate with a wonderful view, INCREDIBLY comfortable bed and the room service was VERY fast. I was there on business but I will MAKE SURE that I stay at this hotel again and check out some sights in San Jose

Free internet access. Asked for my credit card at check-in for incidentals. Would not return slip at checkout. Well worth the money I paid! The amenities were great and the room and hotel in general were clean.

Lots of charm. No airport shuttle. This hotel is on the national registry of historical landmarks. Both the exterior and interior have classic charm not found very often.

The St. Claire was a delightful and classy hotel with a very friendly staff and excellent accomodations...wonderful decor, comfy bed, free internet access, great food, clean fitness center, excellent location to down town and freeway access. I am a very discerning traveler and the charm of this renovated yet historic hotel kept me bragging about the accomodations to all. I will definitely stay again.

I would highly recommend this hotel. No rental car needed if attending events at the University. Variety of restaurants within walking distance. I felt pampered and the staff was friendly and attentive.

Good Location Downtown. The television set did not work and I was told it was not just my room, but I felt that I was given a bad room for paying a lower price. The Staff was very courteous. They just did not seem to have a handle on their television system which was of frustration for me as I was planning on relaxing in front of the television for the evening. It was if they did not have cable which they did but I could get better reception with Rabbit ears.

The Sainte Claire is an elegantly restored historic hotel with more modern amenities than most new hotels. The staff is overwhelmingly friendly and helpful, and the location is great. Stay here to feel welcomed, special, and spoiled. Downstairs, there's a large, elegant lounge worthy of royalty, and a fine restaurant. You have easy access to downtown San Jose's myriad arts, entertainment, and restaurant amenities on foot, or via VTA train. Rooms include featherbeds and three choices of pillows. If that's not enough, they'll bring another pillow from the pillow menu. For all the comforts of home, rooms feature DVD players, refrigerator, a Boston Acoustics clock/radio/CD player, and a cable to connect your iPod or MP3 player. Bathrooms are compact, but elegantly furnished, complete with faux skylight and motion-sensitive lighting. Free wireless internet is provided throughout the hotel, and local community wireless is also available. This is a marvelous hotel.

It's near Original Joe's restaurant. Lousy water pressure/nozzles, no non-skid in shower, crummy location for highways, noisy. It's good-looking, well-kept, but only a good location if what you're doing is in downtown. Way too noisy inside and from sounds outside. Clerk full of s__t, arrogant, etc., definitely NOT knowledgeable.

The Saint Claire is an old hotel that has been thoroughly updated. The rooms and bathroom are small due to the original age, but they have been updated to very modern and upscale standards. The hotel is in downtown across from the light rail system that can take you anywhere. There is a great bakery across the street and several upscale restaurants nearby. The Italian restaurant in the hotel is excellent. It is also close to the airport. Although downtown, it was quiet.

Comfortable beds. No parking! It was nice clean well organized. I stay there for the value to quality rating. I visit my daughter who live close to hotel.

The St. Claire has been restored to excellent condition. The lobby and meeting areas all showcase the inherent beauty of the art deco elements which are harmonized with the modern comforts and facilities (e.g. flat screen tvs). The in suite bathrooms have retained the orginial decorative tile elements with modern tubs and ceiling frescoes with recessed lighting. The Il Fornaio italian restuarant on the ground floor is good as its bakery. There are two light rail stops within a short step of the front entrance. The St. Claire is now my first choice for my business stays in San Jose and I will likely try to arrange company bookings for the major tradeshows we participate in throughout the year at the convention center across the street.

You cannot compare a "Historic" Hotel with a chain. Lots of charm Along with historic you might not have all the electric outlets you need. Historic hotels are my favorite type of hotel and the Sainte Clair has all of old world charm with an open spacious lobby and marvelous ceilings. The staff was extremely helpful and could not do enough for us. Although the electrical outlets were few we did manage to get our cell phones charged and the free internet usage in the business center was a plus. The rooms although not spacious were nicely appointed with good water pressure, air conditioning, etc. We were attending a wedding in Santa Clara and did not have a chance to eat dinner but managed to have a great breakfast at their restaurant. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
