room / hotel was "ok", but had good leisure facilities - freefirst trip to ieland and it was our "arrival night after ferry across", so had nothing to compare to.not great start when we tapped address into sat nav and hotel wasn't on that road!parking outside to drop off was difficult and you have to enter hotel to find car park - not easy to access.security of hotel was good, with swipe cards for access to accommodation areas. [this complex is also the local leisure centre, so i guess this is how they only get hotel residents safely to their rooms].having stayed there now, i thought it was pricey even at the laterooms price, but it's never worth their real rates.having said the above and having travelled around ireland for a week, i am surprised about the cost of living there, so this was a fair price for a reasonable hotel with good, free, leisure facilities. i'm sure it would be more enjoyable if we'd stayed 2-3 nights.

my stay at the royal was very good i really enjoyed the food they had a great varity for breakfast the pool and gym were excellent the pool staff were so nice and friendly over all my stay was great i go home to ireland every year and this was the first time i have stayed in a hotel my american friend who came with was very impressed with the whole holiday

carpark hellStay was poor from the beginning - were sent rudely away from hotel carpark as there was no space . Others were complaining in vain about rudeness to reception when we checked in after parking elsewhere ( managed to get in on second day ) . Room stank of smoke and was beside the aircon for the hotel so very noisey. Despite requesting to the chamber maid the room was not touched over our stay and no new towels etc. When leaving we tried to pay by another card to be told it would take 3 days to replace the money in our first card . To cap it all our car was blocked in and there was no car park attendant .We had to work with other guests in the same predicament to get our cars out

Quite an austere building from the front, but on entering the front door you will not fail to be impressed. For a 3 star hotel we were very impressed and it is true what they say about the folk from the South, very friendly, attentive and helpful to their guests. Being very central to Bray makes this hotel a good base for those who enjoy being at the hub of activities and people who have left the car at home will not have far to walk to all the local amenities. Be aware that the hotel has no parking of their own, but discount is offered at a 24 hr staffed car park right behind the hotel. Discount for guests is 5 euro per night, but this gives peace of mind and does not chain you to the car park for the evening, as you can get a ticket to come and go. Would recommed this to all.
