The Royal Resort Cancun is the resort I will compare to every resort I go to for the rest of my life! The staff at this place is unreal. That?s right from the front desk Manager X on down. They are constantly asking if there is anything they can do to make your vacation better. The restaurants are unreal. Some of the best food I have had in my life. That?s not just one but all of them and I was there for 14 days. No reservations at the restaurants was icing on the cake. The rooms and view were also beyond our expectations. The place isn?t cheap it?s five star. That?s what we wanted, paid for, and got!!

We left feeling disappointed. If you don't care about the food, then this is a great hotel. Comfy bed, all suites have oceanview which is beautiful. Kept the balcony door open all night and fell asleep listening the ocean waves... But the food, which is really important to us, was utterly disappointing. First of all, the place has lots of seafood and meat, however, it is NOT fresh! You could taste the freezer burn on the fish and the meat was so tough, our jaws hurt after awhile. We even asked for medium rare and they keep making it medium well. Also, the food was so inconsistent, sometimes so salty and sometimes so bland. And the funny part is that we're not that picky eaters but one thing I do expect is fresh food. Asiana - we ordered sashimi, don't bother, the fish looked so old that we were scared to bite into it. The tabenyaki is okay. Maria Marie - we had lamb and fish - terrible. But I heard there meat is good. All in all, despite the good (clean nice hotel with nice amenities), the bad (awful food) outweighed the good and we would not go back. Go with low expectations, maybe you think the food is okay. Lastly, we've been to seven all inclusive hotels in the past 4 years and for the price of this hotel, I don't think it's worth it. Good luck !

We spend 4 nights at the Royal and had a great time. We went to relax and enjoy the pool and we did just that. You do have to play the "towel game" -- claim your pool chair or cabana by "no later" than 7:00 am, if you want a good spot. We thought the pool was the best pool we have every been to. The view was gorgeous and the pool itself was large. We aren't "sun worshippers" so we chose the covered cabanas -- they were comfortable and we were able to stay "shaded" all day. The rooms were lovely -- clean and roomy. We stayed in a ocean front room and had a great view. The staff was courteous and helpful. We were told to "tip" for better service, but we aren't sure that really made a big difference. The food was good -- not great, but good. We did all-inclusive and we felt we got our money's worth. If we stay here again, we will definitely go "all inclusive". We did not hear the "time share/vacation club" sales pitch, because we had no interest and didn't want to waste precious vacation time. We did not think the nightly entertainment was very good. We only saw one "show" and I've seen better productions performed by "high schoolers". We did take our 20 year old son and this is definitely not the place for young adults. He enjoyed himself, but there wasn't much for him to do at night, but I would definitely stay here again, if the opportunity presents itself.

I would return to this hotel again. I loved the all inclusive. Many restaurants to choose from. Amazing food, mexican, asian, japaneese, italian, seafood. I must have gained 10lbs in one week!! I will probably return to the Royal for future aniversaries with my husband.

Corner Suite is a complete disaster. There is a connecting door which has about a half inch opening on the bottom which allowed us to here everything going on next door. Thank god our neighbors were only there for two nights we were there because of those two days i only slept about 5 hours. The view was definetly not worth the headache. Forget the Corner suite if you plan on sleeping at all or you will regret your trip. And when you first get there they want to offer you a tour of the hotel which is a Timshare presentation so if you value your time tell them no you don't need the tour. I will probably not go here again for fear the rest of the rooms may be just as noisy!

My boyfriend and I stayed for 5 days/6 nights at the Royal in September 2008. It was absolutely amazing. One poster said the food was terrible...as somewhat of a food snob, I have to disagree. Everything was beautifully presented and wonderful tasting. Each room has a "magic box" in it. It is basically a little box next to the door to your room so room service (or anything else you want delivered to your room) can be left and you don't need to be interrupted. We simply left a tip in the box and our food was delivered in it. The beach is rather small (long enough, but not very deep) and was being renovated during our stay, but it was still very clean and nice. The staff was very accommodating and helpful (especially at the desk to book excursions). The grounds are beautiful and in a very ideal location (short cab to Senor Frogs, etc.). There is a small indoor mall across the street where alcohol, gifts, etc. can be purchased. There are always activities going on in one of the pools (volleyball, dancing lessons, etc.) All in all, it was amazing and we are planning a return trip this upcoming November for my birthday!

WOW!! What a great place! Check in was easy. We chose our room on line before we arrived. The room was perfect. The staff couldn't have been better. The food great and they looked for us to bring drinks at the pool and beach! Great location near other night spots if you want to party late (we did). Good entertainment but got over early. That makes it a good place to sleep. We left our sliding door open all night to hear the surf. The beach was small do to last huricane but there are plans to build it up again. In fact it was getting bigger on it's own while we were there! One thing some may not like. You will have to get up early if you want a lounge chair by the pool. People were saving them before 6:00 AM! You snooze you lose! Another thing was sometimes we could hear furniture being moved in rooms above and beside us. They could fix that with felt on the legs. We told the manager and he seemed to think they would fix that. The best thing I can say about any place is "We'll Be Back!!!"

My girlfriend and I arrived at the Royal tired from our flight. We had to go through the usual orientation/time share appointment meeting. We just nodded our heads, said thank you, and ignored the reminder phone call. The rooms, food, view, pool, drinks, and staff were excellent. The beach was not. It seams after talking to the staff the hurricane Wilma took it to Isla Mujeres. I had just a bit more sand in my shoes before I got there than was on the beach. It does not look like the photos any more. 30 feet wide at the widest part, 0 feet at the narrowest. The place does not party if you are looking for that. The drinks are a bit slow but a tip speeds things up a lot. I will say it was one of the most relaxing places I have stayed yet. Live music every night but over by 9pm. The breeze blows all the time at just the right speed. Casual dress for drinks and dining. We were all inclusive but if you were not you would be killed by the cost. The prices on the menus at some of the restaurants were $20 to $30 entrees. In there defense, all of Cancun has gone high dollar. It had been 10 years since I had been there and the exchange rate means NOTHING. There is an Outback Steakhouse and a Bubba Gumps across the street with $5 beers and $7.50 drinks (that?s 55 pesos for a beer but it?s still $5 bucks no matter how you slice it). Be warned: Cancun is not for the cheap anymore. Finally, a special thanks to the staff. Especially Fernanda and a bell man that I can't remember his name. My girlfriend got sick and they took me (physically took me) to 3 different pharmacies to find some medicine for her. I would have been lost without them and their help. Mucho gracias amigos. Usted es el mejor. You deserve a raise and I hope your boss reads this. Best trip I have had in a while.

For all their attention to detail going into the room design, amenities, consierge service, and restaurants, they seriously missed the boat on this one: the noise factor. We stayed in a corner suite that had a connecting room. Why would anyone want to have a room connected by a cheap hollow door next to complete strangers? We heard EVERYTHING they said and did. We had to endure their TV at 2 AM (so loud that it sounded like it was in our room). To make things worse, every morning we got a 6 AM wake-up from the room above us when they dragged the furniture all over the place. I cannot believe that the tables and chairs do not have felt or some covering under the legs to prevent the god-awful SCREEEEEEECH they make when dragged across the tile floor. We have stayed at cheap 3-star hotels that had felt under the chair legs to prevent noise. Overlooking this simple detail is unbelievable. I would have expected that the comfort of guests staying not 5, not 7, but 10 days, would have been a concern. This cost us over $5,000 USD. After 3 days of sleep deprivation, we begged the consierge to give us a different room. Anything upper-floor, no connecting door. We'll take a cheaper room?.anything, we don't care, we just need to sleep. We begged, literally begged him. We cannot live without sleep for 10 days. But he refused. He said, all rooms are noisy, so live with it. We were miserable the entire time. When guests who pay a lot of money can't get any sleep, they have a serious problem. We will never, NEVER stay there again.

This is the 3rd all inclusive I have stayed at in Cancun and the best so far. All restaurants were incredible in the quality and presentation of food. All liquor is top shelf including those stocked in room mini bar each day. No problem with getting domestic beer either. Rooms are clean and extremely comfortable! Loved the jacuzzi in room and spa salts. Pool area was fun with plenty of lounge chairs and cabanas. The beach are has gotten small due to the recent hurricanes but still the water is beautiful. Stayed for 5 days and would definitely go back. Even though a romatic location, the singles in our group had a great time too!

The place is great. The people are awesome. We had a great time the view is grea,t the rooms were very clean. I only wish we had stayed more days. All inclusive is the way to go. I will be back for sure. The staff treats you like royalty and if you tip them a couple of bucks the go way out of their way for you. I did not want to leave the hotel the restaurants are very clean and the food was great. I ate like a pig and I drank like a drunken pirate. You won't regret it.

"Brand new facility - customer service is outstanding -- very romantic rooms. Nightly turn down service with the lighting of aroma candles. Pool, lobby bar are beautiful and fun to hang out at. Shower has great pressure, with jets, and a window to view ocean. Hammock on balcony. Has romance conceirge -- room service dropoff box. Food is gourmet type. Can ask for anything not on menu. They assist with anything you need. Oh, you have a bar in your room with food, drinks and even bottled liquor. This is a wonderful place, especially if you want romance. I will go back....."
