The hotel was very nice and the staff were brilliant there was only one thing the mattress was very hard and uncomfortable i do feel that maybe they need to spend out on updating their mattressses and using some mould remover on the shower cubicle also the shower could do with being updated. The food was really lovely though and as i said the staff were very kind and helpful. If you upgrade the matresses then I would definetly go back again.

Royal Fleet Clubit was very basic no clock ..no telephone ..but talking to recption staff a millonaire ...has now bought it and is slowly refurbishing it..could not have the breakfast as ferry left at 8am and sunday breakfast served 8-10...the lounge area was nice ..but it is as it was a room for sailors...but it served its purpose would try it again to see if the improvements have been done.

The Royal FleetThe staff at the Royal Fleet were very helpful when I rang and informed them that my partner was disabled. They changed our room immediately to a first floor with no steps. The room was basic but spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. There is a very pleasant bar with good beer and the breakfast was excellent. It was buffet style with lots of choice. The area around the hotel is very run down but the Barbican and the Hoe are only a few minutes in the car and the town has a great selection of shops etc. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a short stay.

wouldn't pay full price to stay hereBecause it only cost us £40 for the night through late rooms (breakfast included) it was ok but if we have had to pay full price for our "executive twin room" we would have gone else where. The hotel is in severe need of a complete over haul!

The Young OnesLittle money is being spent on the details in the room; wallpaper peeling/torn, cistern lid cracked, shower knob broken, etc. The bed has obvioulsy been well used, the matress had no firmness to it at all. Having said that the service was good. When we arrived the restaurant was closed but the receptionist pointed out a nearby Chinese takeaway and said we could take the food back to the hotel to eat, he even provided disposable plates and cutlery. Breakfast couldn't be faulted, it was a buffet breakfast and the food was warm and tasty. On the Saturday night there was a wedding party in the bar and this was not open to residents which was disappointing.

It's a long walk from the city centre - but the hotel itself is a quite lovely, old-fashioned place. The Royal Fleet Hotel is a 37 minute walk from the city centre, which is much further than I thought it would be. On the website and on LateRooms, it states that \"Due to its central location the Royal Fleet Hotel is only a few minutes car journey from Plymouth City Centre\" - I can tell you that the car journey is around 10-15 minutes, and a taxi we took from the city centre cost approx. £6.00. If you look at the map provided on LateRooms (by google), you'll notice a railstation only 7 minutes away - this is not Plymouth Rail Station, something which is not made explicit and which I mistook for Plymouth Rail Station, rather it is Devonport Rail Station. The hotel itself has a lovely traditional/old fashioned feel to it. The hotel itself is very good value for money, the building is interesting and it's very much like stepping back in time. It's in what appears to be quite a run-down suburb of the city. We had visited Plymouth for a very specific purpose, and I had hoped to have been within walking distance of the city centre as I needed to make a number of trips from the hotel into town. In my case, the inexpensive cost of the accomodation was negated by the fact that I had to pay for taxis.

A view of Torpoint FerryThis hotel used to be a seamens' home. It has a certain patina of age and is clean, quiet and spacious. The views from our top floor room were very good. The English breakfast was very good. Staff were very helpful. I liked the secure parking. It's not a luxury hotel but we'd certainly stay there again.

April stay in PlymouthI was a single person looking for a reasonably priced bed and breakfast hotel and found that The Royal Fleet Hotel fitted the bill. The staff were extremely friendly, courteous and helpful. My room was large and fitted with two beds, TV, plenty of storage room and an en-suite bathroom. The breakfast was enough to keep you going all day and very well cooked. However I did find that the hotel looked rather 'tired' (I last visited there about 15 years ago and it didn't appear that the decor had changed) and I would recommend that the showers were updated, although it was adequate the bathroom could do with a 'face-lift'. All in all though I enjoyed my stay, the hotel is central to most places and they offer secure parking which is a definite plus.

Room was basic but adequate for our needs as we only stayed 1 night. Not in the greatest area in Plymouth but we felt perfectly safe and the hotel has a free secure car park. Excellent value for money with beautifully cooked fry up included! Our room had a good view of the docks.

Run down & in need of refurbishmentThe hotel receptionist was very pleasant! Now I've got the good bits over, I'll tell you about the bad! The room was very shabby and in need of a complete revamp. The shower in the bathroom had broken fixings and the tap on the basin spat at you when you turned it on! The mugs provided for tea/coffee were dirty. The kettle had old water left in it. The bed base was very old - and the bed was hard. The windows were dirty - very dirty. (Funny though, because my boyfriend is a window cleaner!!). We went into town for the evening to eat, because the receptionist didn't have a menu to show us at 5pm!! The walk to the bus stop was more than a little scary as we had to walk through a very tough looking council estate (we caught a taxi home!!). Next morning, we went down to breakfast. The chef was 'out the front having a fag' - not a good start! It was to get better! The chef said \"full English?\", to which I replied \"we are both vegetarians\". She was not amused! She stormed back into the kitchen saying \"how ridiculous!!\". The breakfast was okay... apart from the uncooked tomatoes... and the fact that the chef was hovering around our table the whole time - despite the fact that the restaurant was empty!! We couldn't wait to check out!!!
