Formal receptions remained a central activity of royal life during the British period. For this reason, the Thakur Sahib made the Swapna Mahal (which translates as ‘The Palace of Dreams’). Imitating the great houses of the British and French nobility, this hall is completely fitted out with European furniture. The high ceiling has breathtaking crystal chandeliers and silk curtained panels. These are complemented by several beautiful arches and coloured glass.

Today, the Swapna Mahal is the restaurant of The Raj Palace. Every aspect of the restaurant is so elegantly designed that you may feel you are actually present at a state banquet. Serving various types of cuisine, the Swapna Mahal is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The Royal Lounge:
This coffee shop was once where Thakur Sahib met his officials for small meetings and breaks. Completely fitted out with royal furniture, the Royal Lounge has beautiful arches, decorated in tones of pink, green and gold. The floor is embellished with Italian marble.
