Queens LeedsThe Queens is a lovely central hotel. It’s close to great restaurants and bars. The main galleries and shopping area are just around the corner. The hotel staff couldn't have been nicer. The only failing was the really weird purple ceiling and the outdated music in the main bar. Not really conducive to getting inebriated!

queens experiencestayed at the Queens with my husband for two nights, hotel was very central walking distance to all the shops and sights, abit disappointed on the hotel as it was very dated and looked like something out of a poirot episode room was very dusty, staff were wonderful and made up for the hotel, especially emma the manager who got us more tea and coffee and biscuits when ever we required, would stay for the location but could be doing with an update

Relaxing Weekend BreakHotel & staff were excellent, very polite and extremely helpful, the fact that secure car parking is available is quite unique in this day and age! The room was good especially as we asked for a quiet one away from lifts. Very clean hotel with Art Deco furnishings making our stay quite relaxing. We found the location perfect for a pleasant shopping and socialising stay. We would recommend this hotel to our friends and would most certainly stay again.

The hotel was an excellent location to explore the city with numerous shops, bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. The only minor issue would be the description of the special offer on the Laterooms website. The original price was quoted as over £300 per night, therefore I expected a bigger room, but as I was already prepared for far less it did not spoil our stay. All of the hotel staff were very helpful and made us feel very welcome. The car parking facilities made the stay very easy and would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to any friends or family.

Staff brilliant, food inedibleNice room, if a little small. Bath was tiny. Staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful - first class.Unfortunately the experience was marred by the appalling food. We sent back the first meal - supposed to be chargrilled chicken tikka skewers on saffron rice with mild chilli chutney. Each of the two skewers had a single lump of chicken - the poorest quality meat, it felt like rubber and was undercooked inside. It had some paste smeared over it but didn't appear to be chargrilled. The rice was plain boiled rice, no hint of saffron, and arrived as a congealed lump, topped with a tomato and onion salsa - not chutney. The second meal was sausages - again really poor quality, gristle and tubes inside. Despite asking for them to be well done, they weren't. The accompaniments were one tomato, a top of a mushroom, some dried up salad and a small pot of boiled potatoes - some of which were bad. This is the worst food I've ever had at a hotel.

Hard to find (by car); easy to stay atIt took me ages to find this hotel, I drove round and round Leeds and could find every hotel but the Queens. In the end, I parked in the station car park and walked there! They gave me a map and clearer directions and so I finally (despite two closed roads!) managed to park in front of the hotel for the welcome valet parking service. I usually have no problems at all finding hotels. This was a first! The room was clean and pleasant enough. The bathroom was immaculately clean in particular. The in-room refreshments somewhat sparse and the TV signal not the best I've ever seen. As a female, I found it a bit offputting to have to navigate through the Adult Channel option with its accompanying graphic image to get to the terrestrial channel options! I arrived late and so plumped for room service. The first dish I chose was unavailable because of a problem with their fryer; as was the second... but my third choice, the risotto, was absolutely superb, one of the best I've ever eaten. Truly delicious. The person who delivered it was very friendly, efficient and apologetic for the unusual problem in the kitchen. The rest of the service was OK, the staff were friendly enough but nothing to rave about, apart from one or two who stood out amongst the rest. In the bar in particular, one waitress was excellent and attentive, the other could barely raise a smile and left me and my business guests sitting amidst a pile of dirty crockery. All in all, this Art Deco hotel is unusual and original which I liked (none of your bland, 'same-y' hotels which you find in any city). I'm not sure the service was consistently 4-star, but the food I tasted certainly was. I would recommend it and, now that I know where it is, would go back again.

The location of this hotel is perfect for exploring Leeds. Next to the station is really convenient. We travelled by car and parking was expensive. The room had a fabulous view over the town square. Five floors up meant we were not bothered by traffic noise. Bathroom was spotless and well stocked. The staff were very pleasant and efficient. We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

ExcellentTop quality, what you would expect from a 4*. Great location, handy for shops and nightspots, and next to the railway station.Only slight downside was the 11am checkout. All 4*'s are doing midday checkout as standard nowadays - they need to get that sorted.

Great value for four-starFor three nights at £44 per night (a special offer rate), the Queens could not be better value, particularly if you want a touch of character about your hotel. The Queens, on City Square in the centre of Leeds, has old-style grandeur of the kind few hotels possess, enhanced by the art deco-style interior. My room was on the front but on the eighth floor, the advantages of which included being sufficiently removed from street level to be unaffected by traffic noise, even if the wall along the top of the facade meant there was not much of a view.Inside the room, the walls were a little dusty, and something had been spilled and not cleaned up in the mini-bar, but otherwise it was all clean. A bit stuffy at night, although a window marked 'do not open' plainly did.Breakfast was standard fare, the cooked food kept warm under lights. And you could have as much as you liked for £9.95, provided you paid at the desk the night before, or when you checked in.Car parking on site is a bit pricey. An alternative is the long-stay car park at the adjoining rail station, although this is only good value at weekends, when it costs £8 per night. This jumps to a forbidding £20 on weeknights, including Sunday into Monday. The car park at The Light, off the Headrow, offers a better value overnight rate at £6.50 (leave by 9am) and is only 10 minutes' walk away.

queens hotel-excellent choice.very good hotel in centre of Leeds, ideal for getting about and visiting surrounding area. The hotel staff were excellent and the room was of a very high standard, parking isn't a problem either, ask reception staff and you get a voucher for overnight parking at car park which is 5 minute walk away for £3. Will definitely stay here again and would recommend hotel to anyone.

Art Deco MasterpieceFrom the outside the Queens looks tired though formerly majestic. Then you step inside and it's like being in a time machine. The lifts are from a Hercule Poirot (though on closer inspection you see that is a facade) and the whole of the interior is art deco. The bed was comfy though not large (a double whereas most modern hotels are at least queen size) and both the bathroom and the bedroom were a bit poky.Great idea to have an iron and ironing board rather than a trouser press.Fabulous location in centre of town next to the station.

What a lovely hotel! It was very clean and the decor was impressive. Our room wasn't the biggest I have ever stayed in but it had everything we could have wanted and it was spotless. The bar was very relaxing and not too expensive, though the wine list could be bigger. The staff were friendly and polite, and were happy to keep my bags for me after we had checked out so I could go shopping which was much appreciated!
