Fine for one night, but a little cramped - no hot water at taps and shower either very hot or cold.

Nice Local AccommodationThis place is not for everyone - it's not a hermetically sealed, chain establishment. It's a charming local pub that has three comfortable rooms attached. As such it has a few quirks, but you will have a much better experience staying here than at some faceless national 'inns'.Pros: Jan and Stan are very friendly, run a local village pub along with several members of their family. Members of the village stop in regularly and are friendly to visitors. The rooms are clean, the food is tasty pub grub, and the cider is cold. There is free wireless, but it only worked in the pub (not the room) whilst I was there, and dropped sometimes. There is also an Indian restaurant nearby that I didn't try, but is relatively popular with locals, so probably good. Shower pressure was fine, stall a bit small, but the same as many other places I've stayed. Best of all, it is linked to Oxford by a flat bicycle path that you can use to be in city centre in 25 minutes or to Nuffield Orthopaedic in 15, and see a little countryside on the way. Very much recommended if you are doing National Cycle route 57 and want to stop somewhere for the evening.Minuses: The wonky internet, also stayed there on the most boiling week in England in three years and one of the owners was funny about having my window completely open. Also the rooms are right next to the beer garden, which I found nice, but means it's only quiet if you have the windows shut, so may not be the best option for a very private person in the warmer months.

Weekend breakVery friendly pub style accommodation. Very good food in the pub itself. Accommodation separate entrance to pub so this was convenient when going out early and returning late.

Slightly hard to find. Lots of car parking available. Very friendly staff.

I was initially very impressed with the value for money and location and setting of this hotel. the rooms were nice, fine for one night. The problems started when we tried to use the shower facillities, no matter how many times we fiddled about with the dial the only two temperatures we could get was freezing cold or scolding hot, there wasno hot water from the taps so a wash in the sink was out of the question in the end we had to boil the kettle to get hot water and wash as best as possible in the sink. Not a great way to start a romantic night on the town to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. We wanted to complain right away but had taken so long trying to wash our taxi was outside ready to take us to town so we planned to bring it up in the morning. When we went to leave the next day we could not get into the pub and there was no sign of any staff, we bumped into another couple staying who said they had been up for about an hour and there was no sign of any one so they left their key in the door, we reluctantly did the same but had to be on our way.

Easy to find. Plenty of parking. Rooms are in an annex to the pub so have separate access. Only downsides were a noisy fan at the back of the pub near the rooms (not good if you're a light sleeper) and couldn't find anybody to hand the key to in the morning or pay the bill ! - Clearly the latter wasn't a problem as my credit card was deducted and a receipt was promptly sent through the post.

Excellent value and in a delightful village location.

Unfortunately food wasnt served after 8pm on Friday or Saturday evening. However we were able to have food in a local indian resturant in the same village.

The room was excellent, but somewhat noisy as it faces the car park, and guests were leaving while we were trying to get to sleep. However that was a minor drawback; we were very favourably impressed with the toom and the service.

We were very happy with the hotel. We were concerned that it might be noisy, being a pub, but it was one of the quietest hotels we have everstayed in. Beds were comfy, shower was fine. Our room was very well equipped for disabled people, the knock on effect of this was that the wash basin was alittle low as it was placed for wheelchair use. Otherwise everything was fine. We didn't eat at the hotel, but the menu looked good.We will certainly use the same hotel next time we stay in Oxford

I found the queens head easily with the sat nav - however when i arrived they didnt have a booking for me - they did luckily - or not as the case may be have a vacancy. The room was clean and nice. However while eating my evening meal the couple at the next seats were eating each other this I found completely unacceptable. not while sat alongside people who are eating food in a very well lit room right by the bar . Being with my daughter I didnt like to say anything at the time I kept hoping they would stop. and the staff didnt say anything The beds were the most uncomfortable tnat i have ever slept in and i did try the both - i think it was just a case of them being cheap beds and the one had a big dip in it. Having travelled up after a full days work I was looking forward to an early night but the outside of the room was adjacent to the outside door to the bar and everyone congregated here to smoke making it very noisy. Even when everyone had finally gone home and said goodnight loudly and often there was a very noisy fan outside the door which was going all night. As I had been asked to settle my bill the night before because there wouldnt be anyone there in the morning I have not been able to speak to the hotel about my complaints. I have used Late Rooms before and have always been pleased with where I have stayed. However on this occassion i was very unhappy.

Oxford is an expensive place to stay and this seemed reasonable for the area. However, you got what you paid for. We were in a disabled friendly room (they may have all been like that, not sure) which had a very cramped bedroom and large bathroom (but no bath and a shower that didn't drain very well). Fixtures/fittings and furniture all very cheap, OK if you literally just want somewhere to sleep (bed was comfy!) but would look elsewhere next time for sure.
