Friendly staff. The hotel was clean, but in need of refurbishment, particularly the stairs and also the grouting in the bathroom. Single room was a good size and clean. The mattress was very poor quality, you could feel the metal springs just under the thin cover. I sleep on anything, so it was just about okay for me. The breakfast was truly excellent - high quality and a good variety of choice.

breakfast menu limited and unvarying. radio-alarm in my room not working - not fixed when I asked. Radiator full on and not adjustable - receptionist very helpful, changed my room when she couldn't fix it. Only ventilation was window overlooking main road. No closed bin for sanitary towels - no bin in bathroom at all in second room.

I would not dare eat the food due to the quality of the accomodation being so bad.

At a price of £30 it was great value. At full price I don't think soLift not working and will still be out of order till January sometimeBreakfast was OK but had been standing for ages so not at its primeRoom comfortable, could do with a thorough clean especially cobwebs on ceilingShower falling apart and window blind not working

Room was too warm - control knob had broken off the bathroom radiator and it was very hot. Plug missing from sink. However, bed was comfortable and towels/bed sheets all very clean.

Rooms are dated and in need of decoration. Carpets are stained. Bathrooms are particularly bad. Hotel smells musty. Lift is out of order. Web site says the building is new when it must be at least 30 years old.

The staff at this hotel were all absolutely lovely and very helpful, they were also very accommodating when I needed to cancel my second night stay, and the location is very convenient for the city. It was nice and warm and I had a good nights sleep. However, I was very surprised at the quality of the hotel as compared with other 3* hotels. I would have been horrified had I paid the regular price, and not gone through Late Rooms, I was very disappointed at what I had paid even with the discount. The lift had a carpet in it that was covered in marks and what appeared to be used chewing gum, the lift doors were all scratched inside, vandalised ? Out of the lift on the 1st floor there were some picture hooks left poking out of the wall, partly pulled out with no picture. My room was very tired, the table and drawer had part of the trim peeled off, the tele had a front panel missing and no remote control. The cup had a sticky handle. There was an avocado ensuite, some of the wall tiles were coming away from the wall, the ceiling tiles had been lifted throughout the room and not put back in line and some of them were, what appeared to be, water stained. The hotel just felt unloved, a bit given up on. The scrambled egg was watery and not a good texture, was it powdered egg ? The white toast tasted as if it had been made with the cheapest of cheap white bread. But once again the staff were really lovely

The breakfast was the best part of our stay. Room was boiling hot, could get no sleep whatsoever. Shower didn't work until we got someone out to sort it. The bath had the plug that was meant for the sink. The halls & lift stank. You could only get the lift up a level,to get down to reception we had to use the stairs, looked asthough we were walking into a dungeon. Late at night the place was very dull also if you were on your own getting the lift or walking down the stairs you'd be scared. When we complained the receptionist said nothing not even sorry & just told us how much we owed. Was a terrible nights stay, would not go there again & to be honest would warn people not to go there.

On our arrival staff were very efficient and friendly. We were apprehensive having read some negative reviews so we were very pleasantly surprised. This hotel was clean, the rooms were spacious and clean every thing worked as it should. The staff were helpful and assisted in calling a taxi that arrived within minutes. On our return, late at night or early in the morning the porter was nice and friendly, the bar was open and we had an enjoyable chat with other residents in the lounge. This is not theRitz but it is very good value for money and just a £7 taxi ride from the centre. We could not associate any part of this hotel with the negative reviews we read

Check in was a breeze, room was better than I had expected after reading some of the obvious whiners who have reviewed this place. Its what it is - you dont pay £30 and expect a 5 star hotel. More than pleased with the experience and I WILL be staying there again.

This hotel was much to my liking, allthough i read reviews on other sites about there being a bad smell, i found that was not the case. The hotel was clean and friendly and totally worth £30 a night. I would also like to thank the staff for an enjoyable stay, one night I had a problem with the electrics in my room and I was moved to a new room and my problem was sorted instantly. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other people and stay there again.

I was looking for a hotel with easy access to nec which this one was said to be but was not. 45 minutes by car at the best.I needed wi-fi service in the room which this hotel was supposed to have yet they didn't which was not convenient for me.The food was indian in the restaurant which I do not like but it was nowhere mentioned. The phone in the room didn't work and they had not made our room up when we arrived so we changed room.I am disappointed and feel that the price was totally out of order
