can be betterThe stay was nice, though the laundry was piled up in the hallway which does not give a good impression. Room and bathroom were clean. Breakfast was good, but not much choice.

Quite impressed with this, despite arriving just after 7 p.m. to be told that no food was served after 6 p.m. The decor you either like or you hate, but the place has been fully refurbished. Friendly people, and they upgraded me twice, very considerately moving me to a back room to avoid a disrupted night's sleep owing to karaoke downstairs. Breakfast was fine, but a little on the economy side.

Cheap but not so cheerful!Friendly, helpful staff, a good English breakfast and inexpensive by Eastbourne standards. Now the "buts"! Front 2nd floor sea view room was VERY noisy well into the early hours on Friday night with a loud lively bar on the lower ground floor and pubbers/clubbers congregating at the Pier opposite - we moved to a much quieter rear room after the first night. Stairs were narrow and steep and the lift was not working (had been out of use for months, I believe). Half-landings on stairways were used as storage for piles of bags of dirty linen (spilling out onto stairs themselves one morning - surely a health & safety issue). Many bulbs in light fittings in passageways/stairs had blown and not been replaced. Old sash windows needed maintenance in the 2 bedrooms we used - some wouldn't open, some wouldn't close fully and one needed coaxing to stay open! Overall, the hotel looked tired and sad.

Hotel wasn't too bad. The room was very claustrophobic and the view was terrible. My husband went to have a bath and the tap fell off.On our booking form it stated that we had to depart the room at 11am, somebody came round in the morning and told us we had to be out by 10.30 - wasn't impressed with that!

Pleasant stay in EastbourneThe hotel room was spacious, clean and well presented. Bathroom the same. Breakfast was delicious, quickly cooked and with plenty of buffet extras. Hotel staff pleasant at all times. However, the hotel had no record of my LateRooms booking, so upgraded me to a twin room from a single room. There was no problem at all with this and staff were apologetic and friendly throughout, but I would recommend double checking your LateRooms booking with the hotel several weeks before you arrive, just in case they are fully booked.

Upgrade - no thanks!!When we arrived at the hotel we were informed that they had upgraded us to a seaview room on the 3rd floor, which sounded quite nice as we were across the road from the beach. After climbing 3 flights of stairs we arrived at our room which was pleasant enough, with as expected, lovely views. However when we went to bed about 11.30pm on a Saturday evening, we noticed that there seemed to be a lot of noise coming from outside. No problem we thought, close the windows. UH....UH this did not make any difference whatsoever. Across the road from the hotel is the Pier which had a constant stream of people(mostly under the influence of alcohol) coming and going until about 3.30am. My wife had great difficulty getting to sleep. So if you are offered an upgrade and you are a light sleeper, say no thanks!

ReasonableThe room was small, a little outdated and overall pretty average but it was decent value for money seen as we booked so late. Very nice people. Not a romantic retreat but good to use as a base if you are not looking for top class accommodation.

Pier hotelVery friendly helpful staff. Room was a little on the small side and I could not open the window in the bedroom which was unfortunate as it was quite hot weather during the stay. Bathroom window could be opened to get some fresh air circulating to the bedroom. Lift was unfortunately not working as room was on third floor so quite a lot of steps.

The hoteliers couldnt have been nicer but the hotel could be improved to live up to a 4 star rating. There were quite of lot of laundry bags in the corridors. The rooms were quite small with quite a lot of furniture in them. there was a lot of noise outside our hotel in the early hours with people coming out of the night club below! Breakfast was awful (sorry). there was no menu. the cereals, juice etc were on the side but the presentation and organisation was lacking. It felt like we were eating left overs. The cooked breakfast was all deep fried and had not been cooked fresh for us (im sure it had been standing in the kitchen for a while). This hotel is probably best for people who just want a place to rest their heads after a night out.

New owners trying very hard to pleaseThe new owners of this exquisitely situated, very good value hotel, went out of their way to accommodate a very late check-in, which was no fault of my own. They kept in contact throughout the evening and I was able to access the hotel early in the morning. They showed concern and flexibility, and deserve to make a go of their new venture.

fawlty towersthe hotel was like fawlty towers, with scaffolding all around the building and builders waking you up at early hours. the rooms were tiny the bed was far too small. i originally booked the hotel for 4 days but checked out after the first night of stay, i was also charged for whole duration when i only stayed for 1 night as the cancellation policy stated that i can only cancel after 48 hours of arrival to which i am annoyed at how can you cancel something when you dont know what you are getting. i feel late rooms has let me down and the hotel was nothing like the web page suggested i wouldnt recomend this hotel to an animal as it is awful.
