This is a very old hotel and the rooms are far from boutique. If you want a crowded European experience this is it but if you want elbow room and American class hotels there are better deals around.

We arrived at the the 3pm, which is check-in time, and we were told that it wouldn't be ready for another 15 minutes. The room wasn't ready until 3:45. The guy at the front desk was very polite and apoligetic about the situation. The TV in the room was very small and outdated, so was the clock/radio. All in all, it was an average stay at an average hotel.

Location. Loud outside traffic. We had a group that stayed to attend the Giants game. We walked to and from the game and also enjoyed the shopping, restaurants and bars close by. A great recommendation for shoppers and giants fans.

It's hard to beat the location and value for money if you're attending an event at Moscone Center. It's not a big chain hotel experience - it's a nicely renovated older hotel, that combines funky charm with a carpet you shouldn't be afraid to step on. I had a corner room, so it may have been larger than the average, but it was a very good size. No drawer storage for clothes. Good working desk. I've had better WiFi connections, but I've also had worse - it never dropped me.

Overall great. The robes and chocolate in the room were a nice touch. Staff was very helpful as well. The $32 dollar charge per day for parking is too stiff for overnight guests. This added over 30% to the cost of the room! Tub faucet was in poor shape, as was the water stream. Once you open the first window to the room and then open the second, you can see just how old the hotel is. I would come back though. Good Deal on the price!

I only live about 20 minutes from the hotel and made reservations for my birthday to stay due to it's close proximity to several clubs/bars I frequent. The weekend of my birthday there was a torrential rainstorm and the overnight stay just didn't seem like a good idea. So I called the toll free reservation hotline to see what would happen if I canceled my reservation. The call center couldn't find my reservation so they transferred me to the front desk who also couldn't find my reservation. I explicitly asked if there would be any charges or penalties for canceling my reservation and was told no because as far as they were concerned I didn't have one. About a week later I going over my credit card statement online I was shocked to see a charge for the full amount of the room. I called the front desk immediately and they still could not find any information regarding my reservation or credit card information. I was advised to call the accounting department in order to sort out the mess and reverse the charges. The lack of customer service I received in this situation is appalling. The accounting representative actually told me I "screwed myself" when I told her I tried to cancel my reservation the same day and that their policy is to charge no shows the full amount of the room. When I attempted to explain the misunderstanding to her she hung up on me. When I called back to speak with a general manager or supervisor she refused to provide the information.

The room was very small and the furnishings dated. The hotel needs some sprucing up (new paint in the hallways would help a lot!), but it was conveniently located within walking distance of Moscone Center, which was important to me. Free Internet connectivity was available in my room, but connectivity was sporadic and very slow.

Stayed there for 10 days for WWDC. The housekeeping staff were very friendly and remembered me and always made the room very clean with nice finishing touches. The front desk staff was very helpful as well. They are not very responsive to email, but in person and phone are excellent. The fitness center is just what's pictured: just 2 treadmills, and elliptical, and a stair master. No weights which was disappointing. It was a good stay and I would stay here again.

Excellent location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was small but very clean and the bed was very very comfortable. Only negative wa the INTERNET. The WIFI connection was very patchy. I would recommend this hotel.

The Pickwick Hotel is in a great location for those looking to explore the city as both the subway and bus/trolly system are only a block away, allowing for easy access to most places. Double bed rooms were a little tight, but fine if you aren't spending all day in the room. Staff were friendly and it was convenient to have the business center and small fitness room available.

nice hotel have stayed here before like it because parking gargage is under hotel easy in and out Not walking down the street with luggage to get to your hotel. Thats a plus for us as we are senior adults. Walking distance to Curan threatre and downtown shopping right next door . rooms are a little small but what the heck they are clean and comfortable. We'd stay again.We don't recommend their restaurant. There are other nice places near by.

My friend and I stayed at the Pickwick for three nights. I have described the hotel to friends as a dump. The rooms are extremely small and lacking in amenities. The bathroom is smaller than my half bath at home. The renovations they supposedly did were really just some paint. I would not recommend this hotel. Pay the extra 10 or 20 bucks a night to stay someplace else.

Good food downstairs off Lobby, an inexpensive restoration of an old hotel, beggars & homeless nearby on street, staff you could find were nice, room needed maintenance and touching up, vinyl windows that did not fit the frames...etc. Worth the cost ($) compared to others.

My wife and I stayed here and probably not stay here again. The walls are way too thin and the outside noise kept us up. located near union square made the hotel bareable. also the staff was friendly, but i'm sure you can find a much more comfortable place for the same or a little more money. it served its purpose for our stay but is not recommended for comfort.

We arrived before our room was ready but they happily checked us in and stored our bags. Very friendly and helpful staff pointed out the highlights to see. Conveniently located within a short walk to public transportation, restaurants, museums, shopping. We'd definitely recommend this hotel to others and stay here again!

I stayed here with my husband and adult daughter- the room was spacious for the three of us, an excellent value, quiet, nicely decorated, and in a great location. I have stayed at other downtown SF hotels but I think this is my favorite so far, and well worth a return visit. Staff couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming. First time I've been South of Market. Far fewer street people than closer to Union Square, which was another treat.
