In 1893, The Pfister opened its doors and became one of the nations grandest hotels and a "palace for the people." The Pfister Hotel is a 307-room luxury landmark hotel in downtown Milwaukee, featuring 24-hour room service, concierge service, valet, and indoor pool and state-of-the-art fitness center, both with great views on the 23rd floor. Elegantly restored to its original splendor, The Pfister's lobby features a heavenly ceiling reminiscent of the hotel's original skylight and the word "Salve," The Pfister's way of greeting everyone with a warm welcome. The Lobby Lounge has been the place to see and be seen for over 100 years. Over 80 original oil and watercolor paintings grace The Pfister's grand hallways, lobby and restaurants. Begun by Guido Pfister, this is the largest collection of 19th and early 20th Century Salon and Genre works on permanent display in any hotel in the world. The Pfister has been honored with numerous awards, including the AAA Four-Diamond Award for the past 27 years, the "2003 World's Best Business Hotel Award" for Milwaukee by Travel & Leisure, and has been named to the Conde Nast Traveler "Gold List of the World's Best Places to Stay."

My flight landed around 9:30 a.m. and I thought I may just need to leave my bag at the hotel and poke around the city before the check in time. The hostess was absolutely delightful and got me into a room right away, which allowed me to enjoy the hotel a bit more during my short trip.

Very friendly and helpful hotel staff. Drinks in the hotel lounge were very expensive. Very pleased with our stay.

I payed 149.00/night and stayed in the tower portion of the hotel. Rooms were small but nice. Breakfast was pricey but the portions were large. Desk was helpful for finding places to eat and making reservations for us. Pool has great view but walls had mold on them. Bar on the top floor - Blu had great view and atmosphere but really smoky and we couldn't even finish our drinks. The cigarette smell started the minute we got off the elevator and it stunk!!! Hotel was quiet for a great night sleep.

Our experience was horrendous. We showed up at the hotel to check in, and we were informed there were "electrical" problems and that we were booked at the Milwaukee Athletic Club, now while the MAC has excellent facilities, these do not rank up with the luxury of the Pfister. I was greatly disappointed to be frank. I had booked a room at the Pfister expecting to experience the grandeur of this old hotel and was bumped. I am not satisfied, to say the least.

Location was not convenient. Coffeemakers, glasses, and bed were filthy. This is not the upscale hotel it claims to be. We requested a roll away bed, and after 3 times asking, we gave up. Our bed had a soiled comforter - again, hotel staff did not do anything about it. The glasses in the bathroom were clearly not washed properly, and the coffeemaker had mold/fungus growing in it. The hotel was not near anything convenient - all businesses/restaurants within walking distance were closed.

I have heard a lot good things about the hotel from taxi drivers to locals who have never stayed there, but seemed to have based their recommendations on brochures and its rich history. It made me look forward to my first stay there, which I now think is also my last as well. For the price, my expectations were definitely high, but I was utterly disappointed the moment I entered the room. It was roomy enough, but the bathroom was cramped, the internet connection is not included in the price (also slow), the room is quite spartan compared to the glitter of the lobby and the hallways, and you could hear the street, particularly early in the morning. I enjoyed the many artworks in the halls, but I thought my company?s money would have been better spent at the Holiday Inn. Visit the hotel and stay elsewhere.

overall it was a nice place, the lobby is quite elegant. stayed the night to go to a ballgame. staff was nice however, when I ordered the room online I was told it was a suite with a king bed. what we recieved was a deluxe room with a king bed, room was smaller than expected.

I went there for a romantic getaway for New Years. I should have went to the party there, but stayed somewhere else. The bathrooms (including the blowdryer) looked as though it had not been touched since 1950. We definitely paid more than we should have to stay there, And be wary of the Sunday brunch when they have to move it to another area (because of crowds). You probably won't even get seated. If you do, good luck on getting any food. And management didn't even care. They just wanted to make more money.

NY charge, Milwaukee service... Not as good a I was charged for... Go somewhere else and visit the hotel...

Great downtown location where all the visting sports teams stay. Multiple local bars & restaurants run shuttles to the athletic venues & are very friendly to their patrons. Its also a short walk to the lakefront & museums. Our only issue was the hotel not having our reservation on file despite numerous confirmations provided by Orbitz prior to the stay. Front desk quickly confirmed & processed the room as booked.

It was a beautiful historic hotel. I loved it. Parking was confusing when we first arrived. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Pfister hotel in Milwaukee. I definitely would stay there again and will look to Priceline as the way to book my stay. It is a classy, historic hotel and everything met or exceeded my expectations.

Classy decor, upscale feeling, comfy rooms. Cost of parking $25 per day.

This is a 5 star facility with a 2 star management and staff. They need to improve their customer service and be more concerned with the quality of their guest's experience. Their superior attitude is not justified. They are overpriced for the service they provide.

I had a chance to visit Milwaukee WI and a few people recommended the Pfister when I asked where I should stay. I am very happy they we decided to listen and stay there. From the moment our taxi pulled up we were treated so nicely! The staff was very helpful with everything we needed or asked about. Our room was always clean. The beds are extremely comfortable. We had an excellent view of some of downtown and the river as well. We were in the city to see a show at the Riverside which was just a short walk from the Pfister. Also there is a shopping mall a short walk away too. Tons of stuff to do right within walking distance. I hope to have a chance to visit Milwaukee again adn I know where I will be staying again!

As soon as you walk in to the Pfister it is stunning! We were in Milwaukee for a graduation ceremony so my entire extended family stayed at the hotel. We had about 5 different rooms and everyone was very satisfied with the Pfister and their experience while staying there. It was a memorable weekend anyway but the Pfister made it even more special.
