The hotel is being refurbished at the moment. From 9-6 every day, there is constant banging and dust. We stayed in the 4th floor, right next to the noise and it was unbearable. The hotel did nothing to move us, despite us requesting a move to more quite area of the hotel. The hotel is about 10 blocks away from the good restaurants. Stay at the Loews or Gansevoort, if you can.

Great placeLoved the palms. so fresh and luxurios. We loved every minute of our stay. Big rooms, great view from the large windows. We had complimentary Thai Chi on the beach one morning its was great! Beach was lovely. The staff never took our order on the beach though... we waitet over 1 hour and gave up. Expensive drinks in the bar - but the beach bar had a happy hour. Nice pool area.

Although the location is not the best in Miami Beach, the hotel itself is very nice and cosy. They have sometimes very nice price deals through internet what are worth using also for the lower class traveller. great experience!

Not a good impression when during check-in, the front desk clerk blatantly flirted with my fiance and acted as if I were invisible. Pretty unprofessional but that was just the start of consistently poor service at the hotel. Our first room was not bad - spacious and well decorated - however it smelled of mold. We soon found out that wall our bed was shared with the elevator which made falling asleep nearly impossible. At our request, they agreed to give us a different room but offered no assistance. We had to be out of our old room by noon and the new room would not be ready until 4, so we were displaced for the entire afternoon. To make it even more inconvenient , we had to bring our bags to the bellhop for safekeeping and then go back and retrieve the bags 4 hours later. The hotel has 243 rooms and was about 70% full so this could have easily been handled better. We spent the majority of our days lounging by the beautiful pool and garden area. The chairs and towels were abundant and comfortable. The restrooms in the pool area were nice and clean but smelled quite bad the whole time. All the housekeeping staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, they were the only staff members who were welcoming. The bartenders and servers seemed annoyed whenever you would flag them down for a drink or a menu. They begrudgingly delivered drinks or food and never came back again. 18% gratuity is added to each order so they are not getting stiffed but they act like it, even when you give more$$. If the staff gets some customer service training the hotel may survive. Otherwise, there are PLENTY of better hotels in South Beach.

Recently spent 4 wonderful vacation days at the Palms with my grown son and his girlfriend. We arrived late after an airline delay and had called the hotel to advise them of late arrival. No problem! We were courteously treated by the check-in clerk who 5 minutes later called to make sure everything was allright. The room with an ocean view was lovely and the whole hotel was tastefully decorated in the Miami design style. The beach was fabulous, the food in the dining room very good if a bit pricey. The best thing about this hotel is the plentiful and attentive staff who do everything to make sure guests leave the hotel with the feeling of having had a positive experience. Any minor irritations are ignored when you are treated so well. Only drawback was the pool which was a bit warm and salty. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others!

This hotel was terrible. Room is very noisy. No balconies and no chance you can open window. No room service except salads. No jacuzzi next to the pool. Third floor ocean front waste of money, no glimpse of ocean. If you will complain, you will basically be ignored, because cruise companies use it and it is full anyway.

The folks at this Summit property are quite proud of their hotel...........and it reflects in their prices on everything! Only parking option was valet and it cost us more to park the car than to rent it. Many items were not working, the TV remote, the internet wireless router, a oouple of the lights and the a/c had two settings off and deep freeze! We noticed construction on one side of the hotel when we arrived, we were assured that it would not affect us, but first thing in the morning the jackhammers and hammers were pounding away in the room next door. Housekeeping was trying to get in to clean our room before 8am, (not that it mattered, the construction had woke us up long before that!) Check out was at 11 am. We asked for a late checkout because or flight was not until after five, they were not accommodating at all. Our room was very small and fixtures were dated and worn. Not a pleasant experience for the price...........expected much better, we stayed the Miami Beach Double Tree 3 weeks earlier, much nicer, friendly staff and half the price!

None. Tiny room. Terrible staff survive. Iwanted a 4 star hotel but this is really closer to a 2-2.5. even the hotel staff stated it is a 3 star hotel.I feel ripped off in getting this hotel.I would've been willing to pay $100 more to really get a 4 star location. In fact, of the two nights I'd booked,I stayed at another location the second night because it was so horrible.

The only qualm that we had with The Palms in South Beach was the fact that we booked an ocean view room with a online travel website, and then they only had city view rooms available at 5:30 when we checked in. The staff and resort was top notch on every single other detail included from the restaurant, to the softest linens on a bed that we've ever experienced, to X, the concierge who pointed us to one of the finest Italian restaurants that we've ever eaten at as well. They looked it up for us, reserved the table, and even called our car from the valet while we rushed to get ready. In mid process of preparing for dinner, my wife dropped a earring down the sink, and maintenance was there to tear apart the drain elbow and retrieve it within 10 minutes. Their service was astoundingly perfect in our experience, and we will definitely stay there again. We will also book it through our online travel website because it saved us about 40% on our room as compared to the front desk rate.

Staying at The Palms was a great experience. I have no complaints what so ever. The customer service was excellent. The staff was extremely friendly. I would definitely stay there again. They cater to your every need. The food is a bit costly, but good.

The resort is unique with an exotic theme. I recommend it to all those who seek a relaxing holiday and plan to stay in the hotel most of the time. However, it is quite expensive. Also, it is far away (30minute walk at least) from the main shopping street in miami beach which was unexpected according to the reviews I read. I had to take a cab everytime I went out.

The restaurant and patio dining were excellent. Heavy construction going on in the hotel. Sounded like a jack hammer across the hall and on the floor above us. Beach area and pool were very nice. Beds were comfortable, but the on going construction noise was very loud. We couldn't even talk in the room over the noise which kept up until after 6:00 pm. We retreated to the restaurant which was very nice and had seating outdoors which was very pleasant.

Hotel was decent and in a good location, however the staff was terrible, they somehow lost a piece of luggage and seemed completely unconcerned, even rude. The manager was left a message and never called. The service in Miami seems to think they are doing you a favor by you spending money at their establishments.
