Description:
The Midland is one of Manchester's most famous landmarks and best loved hotels and has recently undergone a £15 million full refurbishment. There is no better example of Edwardian architecture and it is considered to be one of the finest hotels in Europe. The Midland has welcomed many famous names through its doors and has been the backdrop for many a fascinating tale and significant meeting. This is the place where Hon Charles Stewart Rolls first met with Frederick Henry Royce in 1904 and formed the legendary Rolls Royce Ltd. The restaurants within the hotel present guests with a choice; the Octagon Terrace is the perfect place for light snacks and business meetings over coffee. For those just wishing to relax and enjoy, afternoon tea is a tradition that has carried through the years and is still as popular as ever. The Colony offers Bistro Style Cuisine, whilst those looking for that something special can visit the opulent surroundings of the French restaurant, one of the finest restaurants in Manchester and highly recommended by all who eat there. The popularity of The Midland can be accredited to its elegance, comfort and warm hospitality combined with outstanding facilities and meticulous service.

The hotel was of a high standard and I would not stay again due to the price. If I could afford it, I would stay again.

Hotel room was excellent. Staff service excellent. Pool facilities poor. Central location, valet parking. Recommended.

The hotel is in an ideal location in the centre of Manchester. We arrived at Piccadilly by train and then used the free bus to drop us off outside the hotel. The hotel itself is very impressive with a big open main lobby area. The staff on check-in and throughout our stay were very friendly and helpful. We didn't use the restaurants/bar but the breakfast was very good. The only problem we encountered was some hairs found in the bed and one of the towels, presumably from the laundry process as everything else was spotless. We complained and it was dealt with immediately. Definitely recommend this hotel.

I was extremely pleased with the Midland. My colleague and I were each upgraded to a beautiful VERY large room (Jr. Suite, maybe?) with a sitting area that came in quite handy for business meetings. The hotel was totally redone a few years ago and is quite luxurious - but since this is Manchester, you pay a fraction of what you'd pay for the same thing in London. The staff was very friendly and competent. All in all, an excellent stay.

Great Hotel and location. They upgraded my room to a junior suit on arrival. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Prices in the mini-bar is abit dear however. Apart from that its one of the best hotels in Manchester, and also its the place where Rolls met Royce...

Good, central hotel. However, the cost of the valet parking was expensive, so advisable to make alternative arrangements if possible.

Staff were extremely friendly and more than helpful. As we were travelling with two children, we noted their kindness and were made to feel at home. Our room was large and very comfortable.

Excellent hotel, high standards maintained and all the staff I have encountered have been extremely friendly and helpful! Gave good rating for facilities purely because the pool is small and Good rating for pricing as I wish it was less expensive so we could stay there more often!

Very nice hotel - good service, very well maintained room, elegant and grand hotel throughout. Brilliant location - close to everything you need in city centre. We had problems finding the hotel - we used the link from laterooms.com to a location map and it tried to take us in totally the wrong direction! Expensive parking - £16.50 for 24 hrs!

Polite and helpful staff. Lovely breakfast, good variety of food to choose from. Rooms large well decorated, bed very comfortable. Did run out of tissues as the box did not appear that full. Coffee provided but the complementary packets of biscutes did not appear to have been replenished, there was only one packet containing 2 biscutes left. Good mini bar, full of various drinks if required,(pay on check out) Did not use the gym or swimming pool, although these facilities were free to use at ones leisure within the delegated times.

Absolutely fantastic hotel with great ambience and supurb facilities. Staff extremely welcoming and helpful as well as friendly. The renovations are very sympathetic and have mixed new with old leaving a lot of the character very evident alongside contempory twists. This has been our second visit, the first before it was renovated and both were extremely memorable. Cant wait to go again!

we were extremely happy with the level of service from the staff and had an extremely enjoyable stay. our only criticism is of the small pool and slightly unusual arrangement of having to walk through the gym area but i understand that area is due for a refurb. we would definitely go again
